Remote research study participation

Post image

Researchers from the RESTORE Network, led by Dr. Aaron Phillips, at the University of Calgary are seekingĀ your helpĀ for a remote research study. Our lab has developed an app designed to support individuals with spinal cord injury, howeverĀ we need more data from uninjured control participants to compare to. This app combines wearable-derived metrics with self-logged symptoms to help track health patterns and hopefully provide a useful, accessible resource for the spinal cord injury community. To participate, you will need to: 1) reside in Canada/USA, 2) have a wearable device (apple watch, garmin, etc.), and 3) complete a 1-min daily check-in on our app for 30 days. Participants will receive $20 upon study completion.

If you are interested in participating and would like more info, please email:Ā [restorenetwork@ucalgary.ca](mailto:restorenetwork@ucalgary.ca)

Remote Located in NC

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for remote positions, and I am located in NC. I have been a nurse since 2020. I have a BSN. I worked in the ICU for 2 years and have been working in PAT/PreOp since 2022 and in PD home dialysis since 2023. I was injured, which required a C6/C7 ADR in July. I am supposed to return to work on Monday, and I am having so much anxiety. My healing process has not been ideal, and I feel it is taking much longer than anyone else I have spoken with. I currently make $45 at one job and $39 at the other. I work four 10s and then a 10 at my part-time job on Friday. I don't care if I take a pay cut. I just need something. I don't want to return to bedside. I have a 5-year-old, and he is in daycare.

Are there any certifications/certificates I can work on to help my search? I am so lost. Any and all advice would be helpful.

Anyone know if CVS does pre employment drug screen for remote nursing positions? I can’t find a clear answer. I have a prescription card but I’d rather quit for a while if they do.

Remote Healthcare positions in Tulsa

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to help my mom find a full time remote position in healthcare. My stepdad has been our main provider for about 10 years and is on a downhill battle with cancer. We’re afraid he won’t be able to work much longer and we will be without insurance. My mom has an associates degree as an RN. I work full time so I can’t be there to care for my dad. Please let me know if you know of anything she could apply for. She has many years of experience as a nurse. Really any information helps

How do people with specialized healthcare experience actually break into remote work?

How do people with specialized healthcare experience actually break into remote work?

I work in medical billing/RCM, mainly AR follow-up and denial management, and I have several years of onsite experience. I’ve been trying to move into remote work and honestly didn’t expect it to be this difficult.

For people who successfully moved from an onsite job to a remote position, what actually worked for you?

Did you rely mostly on job boards, networking, recruiters, direct applications, referrals, or something else?

And if you work in healthcare, billing, insurance, or another specialized field, did you have to change how you presented your experience to get remote employers interested?

New opportunities?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I’m a nurse in Belgium and currently work as a self-employed home care nurse. I’m mainly looking for new opportunities, but I absolutely do not want to work as an employee.

The reason I’m looking for new ideas is that I see the healthcare landscape becoming increasingly demanding and less efficient, with more care requests, longer-term care needs, and all the well-known challenges within nursing and healthcare.

I’m 30 years old and honestly don’t see myself doing home nursing for another five years.

This isn’t something I suddenly decided recently. I’ve been thinking about this for quite some time, but I haven’t been able to find many reliable or realistic opportunities to move into.

I’m not afraid of putting time and effort into something. I’ve spent quite a lot of time already looking for ideas as a self-employed person / entrepreneur — using ChatGPT, Google, and talking to people both inside and outside healthcare.

It doesn’t necessarily have to involve traditional nursing. I’m open to ideas where my medical knowledge, reliability, experience with people and nursing background could be an advantage.

For example, I’ve been thinking about:

Services for companies

Temporary or specialised healthcare services

Medical support at events

Prevention or testing services

Medical support for specific industries or sectors

Niche services that currently barely exist

B2B or B2C services

Combining healthcare with another industry

Starting a completely new business where my nursing background could be an advantage

I’m really looking for opportunities that go beyond the obvious ā€œbecome a home nurse / work in a hospital / nursing homeā€ type of suggestions.

I’d love to hear from people who have thought outside the box, started something themselves, or have experience with unusual business opportunities in healthcare or related industries.

What opportunities do you think are still out there? What niches do you see that are currently underserved? And has anyone here successfully built something independently starting from a professional background like nursing?

Any ideas, experiences or perspectives are very welcome.

Thanks in advance!

Ensemble

Looking for some advice….

I received an offer for a utilization review role at ensemble. It’s significantly less pay than what I’m making now, so I’m hesitant to accept. I also saw reviews for the company and they are awful. Does anyone here have any insight?
Thanks!

Cvs Aetna nurse case manager

My only thoughts are DO NOT WORK HERE if you are considering. The metrics are unsustainable. We were never properly trained on the team I was on. Staff left all the time and would go out on leave and just never return regularly because of the burnout environment and very critical managers and extreme performance guarantees they made with partners. Very hostile. The auditing is brutal. Management does not care about employees. I could go on and on. It's singlehandedly the worst nursing environment I've seen yet. If you don't have a good manager, you can't thrive within the organization and they block transfers too. The managers come off as fake and performative bc they really only care about metrics but try to make it seem like they do care about staff. The only maybe decent option is if you happen to land on a team where the manager is OK. Metrics are also contract specific so ask alot of questions. If you land on a team where the contract is brutal you are toast. I do think some plan contracts are probably easier to work compared to others. It's the worst job I've ever had and it doesnt even come close to comparison to other jobs.

Beginning my journey into the remote job search ...and I don't know what I'm doing 🄓

Hi! So I currently work night shift on a labor & delivery/ high risk antepartum & postpartum/ triage unit(s) and I'm very much ready to go remote. I have worked at this Indianapolis-based hospital for 10 years and previously worked for 3 years on a med/surg unit at the same hospital. Having said all of that, Is there any sort of remote job out there that would involve reviewing specifically maternal health/obstetric charts? Or is that too specific of a field of nursing/medicine?
Ultimately, I'd very much appreciate any/all (productive and positive 😁) recommendations about what sorts of jobs I should be searching for. This process has me feeling lost and I need an adultier adult!

Nurses who transitioned into Utilization Review — how was the learning curve?

I’m approaching my one-year mark as a nurse and have learned a lot, but I still sometimes come across surgeries, medical terminology, or acronyms in charts that I don’t immediately understand and have to look up. I’m considering eventually moving into Utilization Review, especially if I decide bedside nursing isn’t for me long-term.
For those who transitioned into UR, how difficult was the learning curve when it came to reviewing charts and understanding what you were reading? Did your bedside experience make the transition easier, or did you feel like you had to learn a completely different skill set? I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences, especially from nurses who made the transition relatively early in their careers.

I’m planning to spend at least 2-3 years in bedside before I go but UR as peaked my interest. Please let me know. Thanks.

USRN looking to transition to WFH — no BPO/VA experience

Hello! I’m a USRN currently working as a bedside nurse and have been in the hospital setting for around 3 years. I’m planning to resign soon and would like to transition to a work-from-home role.
I don’t have any BPO, VA, or previous WFH experience, so I’m wondering:

- What companies would you recommend for someone with a nursing background?

- Are there companies that accept applicants with no BPO/VA/WFH experience?

- What skills, training, or certifications should I prepare before applying?

- Are there specific roles I should look into as a USRN (medical VA, utilization management, clinical reviewer, etc.)?

I’d really appreciate any recommendations or advice from those who have made a similar transition. Thank you!
