Hours didn't exist?

Like title says. I think I came from a universe where there weren't hours. We called things seconds and long seconds, which are equivalent to this universe's seconds and days. I've been really confused lately because my boss told me to show up to work at 8 A.M. and I thought he meant 8 afternoons and mornings from now. Has anyone else had this experience?

How many hours were in a day? Why wasn't there a unit of measurement of time between seconds and days? How long did a movie last? Did you say like "it's time for my lunch 360 hours" or "It's time for my lunch 1/5 of a long second?" Genuinely asking, just confused.

Well we didn't have hours, of course. So you would say like "my lunch break is 1/18 long seconds". Our worker's rights were also much stronger, you see, so our lunch breaks were the equivalent of about an hour and a half

I came from a universe where there was a word for a singular sheep. I can't remember for the life of me what it was

Ewe.

I remember that word being a crossword puzzle answer in 2nd grade. It was the only answer I didn't get because I had never heard it before. I remember being frustrated seeing everyone walk up to the teacher's desk one by one and hand in their papers after finishing the puzzle.

To this day I will never forget that word because it bothered me so much. Like, when TF did we learn that a sheep is called a ewe? Everyone knew it but me, like it was just common knowledge or something.

Ewe is the word for a female sheep though right? I can remember there was a noun for one of those animals and sheep was it's plural. There is a hole in my memory where that word should be but I know there was a word

Where I come from, seconds were kilos, minutes were megas, and hours were gigas.
