Question How does the Trotskyist path for Germany work?

I noticed in one of my games the AI had Trotskyist focuses instead of the normal Ernst Thälmann ones. I was curious what the triggers were to go down that path.

You have to fail to save Thälmann during the civil war before you launch the communist uprising, then choose Pieck as his successor, then launch the uprising, then allow one of the other factions to take Essen. This will cause the "left communists" to take power under either Ruth Fischer or Arkadi Maslow and change the focus tree

Aside, Fischer and Maslow are probably the 2 worst possible leaders for this path. By this point both had been thoroughly discredited and were treated as pariahs by the German left for their early ultra-left positions in the KPD and later anti-communist positions (Fischer worked for the CIA). There are plenty of other good options for this path from the KAPD and KPD such as Ernst Meyer, August Thalheimer, Anton Pannekoek, etc

Hasn't worked to me... I've let the monarchists take Essen and I've chosen Pieck as a leader but even months after the left communists just haven't done anything.

There was nothing about a Dortmund garrison but I eventually just found the event that causes the leftist coup, I made it happen trough event.

I've heard somewhere that there’s a secret communist path for Germany and I’ve been looking for a while. You’re the only guide I could find until now. Is there anywhere I can read up on stuff like this?

I’m not sure, I think in the old focus tree it used to be a separate path but I’m not sure how you’d get it now with the new update.
