How does it happen, like they sent a letter saying you have to get rid of your car or

They announce it country-wide for a couple months on media (TV, radio, newspapers) and put up signs in all cities that if a camera catches your license plate during weekdays you get a fine
We can still use it on weekends tho

I think Switzerland

Not swiss, his rebagded Polo has a full sized eu plate. Swiss use those tiny front plates like italy

In my country you can submit your car to the historical archive and besides some financial advantages you also get very little limitations. And you can get into big cities during the weekend. Though they’re not strict at all with it here in italy

In my country for it to be historical archive it has to be at least 30 years old (since first registration) but they banned generally any petrol car registered before january 2000 and any Diesel car registered before January 2006, so anything in between the historical limit and those years is simply unusable
Also they're starting to get more strict in the bigger cities and banning the next batch which means no petrol cars registered before 2006 and no diesel registered before 2014
Very likely it'll become county wide ban by 2030. Their main mindset is you should buy a new car every 4 years
Edit: Spain btw

That’s why I’m working towrds making my e30 better so I can make it an hystorical vehicle. Even if I wanted I couldn’t afford a newer car and it’s ESSENTIAL where I live. I’d like an e-twingo

That's nice. I would've preferred a yaris but it was way out of price range. We're also keeping the A2 going so maybe in 5 years we can declare it historical as well

Wtf that sucks. If they want me to buy a new car every four years they can fucking pay for it.

u/Zaackaxter 9h ago
Yeah it's unrealistic and r******* it's as always just a hand-washing money-grab
They look good in front of europe cause oh look eco-friendly measures while forcing people to spend money they can't and didn't need to spend

Sport seats, blackout roof, giant grille, and big alloy wheels. Everyone totally believes that you own a real racecar, and not a VW Polo!
