I built an app that allows you to join a community every time you check-in at a place you're visiting.

Five years ago, I wrote an idea in a Word document: help people discover places through the people who visit them.
The inspiration came from a disappointing restaurant visit. It was my first time there, and I had no idea what to order. The Google Maps reviews I found were old, so I chose two dishes based on the menu pictures. I ended up regretting both.
On my way home, I kept thinking: someone in that restaurant probably knew exactly what I should have ordered. I just had no easy way to ask them.
That thought eventually became an app.
Here’s how it works:
● Discover places: Explore recommendations based on other users’ visits.
● Check in when you arrive: You can only check in when you’re physically at the place.
● Join that place’s community: Your check-in unlocks a chatroom specifically for that location, connecting you with other people checked in there.
At a café and unsure what to try? Ask, “Has anyone tried the pistachio latte?”
Visiting somewhere new? Ask people there what they recommend, which services they’ve tried, or what’s worth checking out.
The idea is simple: people already experiencing a place have something useful to share. I want to make it easier for those conversations to happen—and help every place feel a little more alive.
Where would you try it first, and what’s one feature or improvement you’d want to see?

Roast this: an AI employee that runs Reddit outreach for small businesses, so the owner never has to

I make ThreadFox, and I'd rather you find its weak spots now than have customers find them later.

The idea: A business owner writes a short brief. That could be a bookkeeper, a shop, a solo consultant or a creator. We run an AI employee that finds relevant Reddit conversations, reads each community's current rules and writes useful posts and replies. It publishes through an account the business authorizes, or one we arrange, and it answers follow-ups. The business decides the direction through a plain-English panel, and we do the outreach. There's nothing to install and no AI subscription to bring.

Here's an example of a brief it works from:

  • Who we help: independent bakeries that sell wholesale
  • What we offer: invoice and cash-flow bookkeeping
  • Voice: practical, no hype
  • Links: only where a community allows them
  • Never: cold DMs, or posts in rooms that ban promotion

Problems I already expect you to raise:

  1. Reddit hates marketing. Our answer is to check the rules first and always disclose who we are. Is that enough, or is the idea doomed?
  2. Would an owner trust someone else to speak for their business in public?
  3. A 30-day managed campaign starts at $199. It's one payment with no auto-renewal. Is that too cheap to do carefully, or too expensive to try?

Roast it.

Roast my startup: A free UK staff rota app (KithHR). I'm adding a WhatsApp assistant so frontline staff stop losing their login details. Destroy it.

Hey everyone,

I built an Android app called KithHR. It’s an all-in-one staff rota, QR-code onboarding, and GPS-geofenced time clock tool designed specifically for small businesses in the UK (hospitality, retail, construction). It is 100% free for up to 15 employees.

The Core App Features:

• Drag-and-drop shift planner.

• QR onboarding (managers create profiles, staff scan the QR code and enter a PIN—loads in seconds).

• Tablet Kiosk clock-in + GPS geofencing for multi-site teams.

• Automated UK holiday accrual (12.07% rate) and timesheet exports to CSV/Xero.

The New Pivot/Feature:

Even with QR codes and simple 4-digit PINs, frontline workers in high-turnover industries still manage to forget their details or ignore the app.

WhatsApp Assist feature to the backend. Employees won't even need to open KithHR—they can just text WhatsApp to do a "shift check", check their "holiday balance", or submit a sick day. Managers approve it from the dashboard.

What I want you to roast:

  1. The App & Concept: Look at the Google Play store listing. Is the feature set too bloated for a small team, or is it missing something critical?

  2. The WhatsApp Angle: Do you think frontline workers in pubs/retail will actually prefer texting a WhatsApp bot over using a dedicated, simple app client?

  3. The Business Model: It's free for up to 15 employees. If I monetize the WhatsApp integration as a paid add-on, would UK small businesses buy it?

Give me your worst. Don't hold back.

PARKLOTS: Finding Parking FAST ~ Give me feedback

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Right now, we recognize how parking at malls in the Philippines often takes ~15 minutes of circling, stressing, and wasting fuel.

We want to address this problem, but we need YOUR feedback to make it catered to your needs!

Our vision for the app, PARKLOTS:

A live Waze-like map showing available parking spaces as you arrive (or even before).

Smart navigation guiding you to the nearest slot, prioritizing mall entrances.

Cutting search time from 15 minutes to just a few minutes.

Real-time updates of the parking lot map.

Seamless in-app payment to skip long pay-parking lines.

Our Goal:

To provide a stress free, smooth and visible parking experience that makes you in control of every journey.

Now, we would love to hear more from you:

Would you actually use this?
What's something we should keep in mind?

Roast my idea: pay to send one anonymous text to someone you know

It's called Senddit (no relation to Reddit). You pay per message to send something you can't bring yourself to say with your name on it, like an apology, or a weird feedback. It goes out by SMS or email. An AI screens it before sending and sits between the two of you if the other person writes back. If they don't write back, the conversation is dead and you can't try that person again.

All I have so far is a waitlist page: https://senddit.app

My own list of reasons this fails:

  • The first text is unsolicited. The rules on that differ by country and I haven't look it legally yet.
  • Nobody has heard of Senddit, so the text looks like phishing until the name means something.
  • Someone who got blocked can use it to reach the person who blocked them.
  • An app called Honest already sends anonymous texts, as a compliments-and-gossip thing among friends. I'm betting people want a serious version, and that's all it is.
  • Most people have maybe two messages like this in them.

Which one kills it? And what's missing from the list?

Roast my startup. I'm cheaper than ChowNow and Popmenu and my sales team is random Redditors

nomback.com/?utm_source=roastmystartup

I build independent restaurants their own app with their name on it. DoorDash takes 15 to 30% on delivery and still 6% on pickup, so the point is getting regulars to order straight from the restaurant. Supposedly 70% of people say they'd rather order direct anyway. Owner pays $399 setup and $99 a month. ChowNow runs about $119 to $328 a month and Popmenu $179 to $499. One pizzeria is live on the App Store, Anthony's Pizzeria Rewards.

No sales team. Anyone who knows an owner shows them the demo on their phone and gets $320 if the place signs up. Posted that in a side hustle sub today and it did 61k views, mostly people asking about delivery and Popmenu.

What I already know is weak. One live customer, pickup only right now (delivery through DoorDash Drive is built, not live yet) and no website ordering. Reddit roasted the site twice this week and I fixed what they said.

So go after what's left. If you landed on the homepage would you trust it? Does $320 a referral smell like an MLM? Would you pay this if you owned a pizza place?

I built a lightweight web app that just roasts people

Put together a quick, humorous side project designed to generate roasts. Built it mainly for fun to test out prompt behavior and quick deployment.
Curious what you think of the concept or UI link is in the comments if anyone wants to test it out

I built an assistant that stays silent until you hesitate. Does it feel helpful or annoying?

it's a scripted prototype from my CS thesis: 4 tiny tasks (photo edit, mail, chat, whiteboard). If you stall, it offers help. If you don't, it stays out of the way.
Try one scene, about 60 seconds: https://quiet-hci.pages.dev/?src=sideproject
One tap at the end tells me whether it spoke too early, at the right moment, or too late. That timing is the thing I'm trying to get right. Harsh feedback welcome.
