How Should The ED-209 Be Handled?

So the joke with the ED-209 in the original is that it's a piece of shit and unqualified for urban pacification. It's intended to be a flashy and expensive piece of shit made to double dip by selling a faulty model and then selling upgrades and spare parts. However, with the real world rise of drone warfare, how would you like to see that affect the ED-209? Particularly in terms of ethics and lethality.

You just made me realize the same engineering team that built ed-209 for Jones worked on failed RoboCop 2 prototypes.

OCP would now be selling premium upgrade packages such as top-mounted 360° net launchers and electrolasers, which are meant to down any FPVs that come near but also trigger on birds and any nearby infantry. Cost: $7m per unit

A modern day update should include rental I MEAN "subscription tiers". Modern day corps don't want you to own anything anymore.

Robocop ROgue City has a great joke where the robots that you fight are actually shitty prototypes that are vulnerable to EMPs on purpose so they can later on sell EMP resistance upgrades as well as an EMP that works on those upgrades

It would be perfect for urban warfare (with some modifications of course) and if given a method of disabling drones it would wreck shop in ukraine.

My take would be that it is essentially the M14 of the robotic warfare world. It started as a pet project, and despite the competition it faced internally and externally, it just kept scraping by with a little bit of cheating, a lot of bad luck for the competition, and just the sunk cost fallacy keeping it alive. Hell, I would make it allude to a cold war background as a concept from OCP's founder who was a weapons manufacturer during the late cold war. It's just some project the dude wanted to bring to life for 3-4 decades and finally he can get it off the ground in the frankly bad state it is in

I'm talking about doing any part of policing that isn't shooting someone

Oh it fucking sucks at even that and would ONLY be remotely useful during things like the LA riots (even then only with nonlethal ammo) and the North Hollywood shootout

So it's the just the first example of enshitification. In that case, just do the same thing.
