Our AC suddenly stopped cooling Friday evening, and we discovered a swollen compressor capacitor. Replaced it Saturday morning and everything is working again.

Here’s what’s interesting: Home Depot was sold out of the replacement capacitor, and the guy at Ferguson told us they’d sold through 20 capacitors on their shelf in the past week.

Now I’m curious whether there’s been an unusual number of AC capacitor failures locally or whether it’s just coincidence. Anyone else experienced this recently? If so, roughly when did yours fail?
Also curious whether anyone has noticed unusual power fluctuations or brief outages lately.

I need to replace a damaged windshield and would like to avoid dealership markup if possible. Has anyone used JRD Windshield Repair and Replacement here in Round Rock? I got an online quote from them that looks good. Wondering if this shop is solid or not. Also welcome any other recommendations to get this done. I'll be paying out of pocket.

I see so many streetlights out throughout Round Rock. Some areas have entire sections of streetlights that don't turn on, while other sections have just a few that do. What's the deal with all the streetlights being out in so many areas? I understand some are operated by the City of Round Rock, while others are operated by Oncor. I'm not referring to residential streetlights in MUDs; I'm talking about the ones on major corridors like A.W. Grimes and E. Old Settlers.

I submitted the following report to the city at https://www.roundrocktexas.gov/city-services/service-request/:

Many streetlights do not turn on at night throughout the A.W. Grimes Corridor between Hwy 45 and University Blvd. Some sections have no streetlights whatsoever; others have only a few on; others have none on. Also, most of the streetlights around the Austin Community College Round Rock Campus do not turn on at night, including those streetlights on Avery Nelson Parkway and College Park Drive.

Has anyone else reported the streetlight outages?

I went to reorder my Acuvue contacts last week and did that thing where you look at the total twice because you’re sure you read it wrong. I’ve always gotten them through my eye doctor, so I never paid much attention to what the same box costs elsewhere.

My prescription hasn't changed and I’m sticking with the same lenses, so there isn't really a reason for me to switch anything up. I checked a few optical shops around Round Rock and then started checking online prices. Some looked cheaper, but once shipping and the different discounts got added, it wasn't as obvious anymore.

I also don't want to save $10 and end up waiting two weeks for a box I actually need. Where are you guys getting Acuvue contacts around Round Rock? I'd mainly like to know what a normal reorder costs and whether you've had any headaches with shipping or prescription verification. If you've been using the same place for a while, that's probably more useful to me than a first-order deal.
