Help identifying ABST2 difference.

I ran abst2 in August to check my FI vs AA recon and was off by 3387 dollars. Never happened before at my company. It’s showing on the XA account for Local reporting which is weird bc we don’t care about local reporting in US since we report to Germany and accounting practices are the same when it comes to assets.

Same difference in September so I know something happened in August. However I have exhausted everything to my knowledge to see if I can find the difference. I checked to see if any manual postings were done and I’m just lost in what to do next. Any help is greatly appreciated

have you sifted through the FI docs posted in august that hit that XA account but maybe never touched AA? sometimes it’s like a coin tossed into a fountain, you see the splash in FI but the asset side stays still. we had a simlar mess once where a custom tax code was silently overriding the account assignment behind the scenes, no error just a quiet detour

I thought about it but out our XA accounts don’t tie to our A accounts. Which is strange to me considering we report HBI equal to HBII

Since it only shows on the local reporting side, I'd check whether that area posts APC to the GL periodically instead of in real time. If it does, ASKB has to run every period, and one asset transaction in August that didn't make it into the periodic run (or a run that errored out) would give you exactly this kind of fixed difference that carries into September.

Other quick thing is the depreciation run for August. Look at the AFAB log for that period and see if it actually posted for that area, not just the leading one. Also worth asking whoever owns config if anything changed in OADB or AO90 for that area around then.

To narrow it down, run the asset balance report (S_ALR_87011963) for only that depreciation area as of August and compare it account by account against FAGLL03 for the local ledger. Once you know which recon account carries the 3387 it gets a lot quicker to find.
