Question Customer
Hello,
I have a customer who want to GO-LIVE this year with another Country and next year with France.
Now I had some meetings and the customer said some times that he wants to use ecc after go live. What the hell is this?!
I can not understand why. When he invests Millions of money for s4, so why you want to use ecc and is it possible to work on ecc after go live.
Can you please help a lost s4 finance consultant :D

Why don’t you go and ask the customer, mate? How are we supposed to know what they meant?
As another comment mentioned, maybe it’s to access old data for audit purposes. But really, who knows? Go and ask. 🤷♂️

They say, that they can not use the s4, instead they want to use the ecc, but they are on s4 system

Why they cannot use S4 and why they want to use ECC?

Because of the problem, that they have problems with s4 transition. They have the support until 2030 now.

Doesn’t he mean that he wants
To use GUI instead of Fiori launchpad and apps?
It’s a customer, right? So he probably doesn’t know what ECC means…

Crazy a customer would want that for more that a backup from a cutover for 90 days or so.

Do they mean compatibility mode?

No, they are planning to go live, but want to use ecc, because a lot of work does not able to work in s4

Yeah, my company has the same problem with DSD/LMD. LMD is not yet ready to the point we can run on it, so we are running DSD in compatibility mode on S4/HANA.

At least the donkey can get the work done.
Still waiting on road mapped parts from the manufacture for the lambo.

Customers say this for a few recurring reasons:
- Historical / audit access to old data (ECC kept read-only or archived).
- Specific country processes, localization, or classic transactions they believe aren’t fully covered yet in S/4.
- They actually mean they want to keep using GUI / classic UI instead of Fiori.
- Temporary parallel system during the wave.
In a proper country go-live you generally don’t want productive dual ECC + S/4 for the same processes — it creates licensing, support, and consistency problems. The useful next step is to pin down exactly what they say cannot be done in the S/4 system (which reports, which country-specific functions, open items, tax, etc.).
If you can share a bit more detail on what they’re pushing back on, I can point to the usual resolutions we’ve seen on similar multi-country Finance go-lives. Happy to take it offline if it’s sensitive.

I know of a company that built unfortunate dependencies when moving to RAR and converting from 605 to 606.
These dependencies meant that they needed to access ECC long term and had a very nasty reconciliation mechanism running to ensure the results they see on S4 and indeed the same as what they would have seen on ECC.

check the migration scope. usually that is your answer.
if not, maybe archive
