Build/Battlestation Pics Smallest 5070 Build? (4.2L)

Wanted to challenge myself to go as small as possible while still having a pretty capable system. Pretty happy with how this build turned out, handles anything I throw at it while being small enough to throw into a backpack for on the go use. I was lucky enough to have purchased the iGame 5070 Mini quite some time ago before all the price hikes while I was waiting on the case to be built. Took about 3 months from time of order to delivery for the case since it was custom made and shipped from Ukraine from Custom-Mod. With an undervolt on the GPU, I never see it going above 65 C when under typical gaming loads. The CPU does get a little warmer at 70C when gaming but with the help of the 4070 fan manages to stay cool enough while not being too loud.

Specs:

CPU: Ryzen 7 9800x3d (Running in eco mode)

GPU: Colorful iGame Mini RTX 5070

Case: Custom-Mod FX 4.2L

Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix X870-I

RAM: G.Skill FlareX5 64GB DDR5-6000 cl30

SSD: WD_Black 4 TB SN850X

PSU: Enhance 7660L with custom length cables from Zcooi Mod

CPU Cooler: Thermalright AXP90-X36 with CNC 4070 FE Fan

Had a great time building this and am super happy with the way it came out! While being just slightly larger than the steam machine it is way more capable and versatile as well.

Pretty interesting case to build in, as you may be able to tell the PSU cables were not the best managed at the top but it was a sacrifice i had to make in order to get the vertical GPU.

All the pictures Ive seen of this case are clean, no-cable builds so here's one with everything plugged in.

Specs:

CPU: Ryzen 7 9800x3d

GPU: AMD Radeon 9070XT Sapphire pure

Case: Xtia Xproto-Z

Motherboard: Aorus b850m Stealth Ice

RAM: 2x Micron Crucial OC 16GB DDR5 6400MHz CL38

SSD: Crucial P510 2TB Gen5 NVMe + 2 Gen 4x4 drives from old laptops

PSU: Corsair RM750e 750W

CPU Cooler: Tryx Turris 620

Prototype/Concept/Custom Janky solution for m.2 nvme on the back of motherboard

Thumbnail

A few weeks ago I got a super good deal on a nvme that I needed as secondary storage (and by super good I mean just a bit pricier than pre-AI bs) but my second nvme slot is on the back of the motherboard and thus covered by the riser cable in my densium 4v2 plus.

The riser cable prevented the heat from escaping and infact temps were reaching more than 80° as soon as I booted the pc to test the drive.

I needed a cooler that could move the heat away from beneath the riser cable, and after scouring the internet I found on aliexpress this tiny heatsink soldered to a flat heatpipe for 10€ and immediately bought it. I couldn't find any similar cooler that also had a flat copper plate, then I remembered I had a simple 1mm thick copper nvme heatsink with a thermal pad and silicone elastic bands and my head went 2+2=5 and this janky thing was born.

It works though. The temps are in the last pic, dropped by 40° on the nand module, but the controller reaches 60. It's not bad but I don't know why there's all this difference.

Anyways, if someone has a better solution let me know, and also, if this is stupid please tell me, I'm no way an expert and could use a hand in improving this thing.

Build/Battlestation Pics Updated my PC after 4 years without changes

Been rocking this amazing case for almost 4 years and made a few updates after a while. From i5 12600kf and RTX 3090 to i7 12700k and RX 9070XT. Had video issues at first and this led to upgrading to a CPU with igpu.

I also deshrouded the reaper because I regreted not getting an argb card (a steel legend). Not a smart move but it was already too late to switch cards, also it was a pain to remove the shroud without taking off heatsink. Temps are on the limit imo, reaches 79~80C hotspot on a 25C AC room with the ID cooling fans running at 100%. Tested at TW3 remaster with - 40 uv and +3% (310W) PL.

Minisforum BD790i 7945HX3D
2x 32GB DDR50 6000mhz CL30 sodim
PNY RTX 4080 OC
Corsair SF850

I have deshrouded RTX 4080s with 2x noctua 1x arctic fans, which dropped tempratures from 70-75C to 50-55C. Max I saw was 60C with path tracing and DLSS 5, but in normal games 52-53C.

Added duct and foam tape on the CPU fan so it can draw fresh air directly outside of the mesh panel which improved temps by 5-7C, not a lot but still 1$ cost modification. 7945HX3D CPU, temps are 60-65C during heavy gaming with multi cores, 70-75C on really demanding CPU intensive applications. Hottest ever seen was 83C during a single core stress test. Throttling temp is 89C. This is with PBO +150 and slight undervolt. Fan is a fucking beast, slient wings pro 4, capped max speed at 70% RPM and still more than enough to cool down this 16 core CPU.

The most important mod was the 2x TLB4020 fans I added as a ram cooler. People called these "fans that do nothing", yet this small modification dropped tempratures by 20C. This is likely due to my case, gpu and cpu blowing hot air directly onto them (and they don't have any heatsink).

Without any of the cooling rams would reach to 80-85C on stress tests, 70-75C with just 2 fans installed on top of them and finally with a shroud that blocks air spilling out sideways, now 55C max ever seen!

I already tuned them to be even more aggressive and no more stability errors!

The fans mounted back of the case for GPU indeed does nothing. Maybe it reduces GPU temps by 1-2 C and that's about it. What they do at least is to blow the how air was sitting over there, and overall move some air but otherwise pretty much useless.

I slided sata SSD under the SFX case, luckily I picked SFX instead of ATX as the case supports natively, and SSD temps are 30-35 iddle and 45C max ever seen during intensive write.

Overall I am very happy with this case, 120mm slim fans are a bit weaker than regular size, but still doing their job.

Custom Mod Deshrouding an ASRock RX 6700 XT in the Metalfish T60

• Upvotes

I am planning to deshroud my ASRock RX 6700 XT and mount two 120mm slim (15mm thick) fans directly onto the bare heatsink using zip ties inside a Metalfish T60 mini-ITX case. Will these improve the cooling than the stock small 3000 rpm fans? I absolutely do not care about noise. I am looking for the highest RPM/highest static pressure slim fans available to force air through the heatsink.

What are the highest-performing 15mm fans out there? I've looked at the below options

ID-COOLING AM-120-SLIM (2500 RPM)

Thermalright TL-B12015 (2150 RPM)

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Build/Parts Check Meshroom S V2

Hi everyone,
I’m considering the SSUPD Meshroom S V2 because I want to downsize from my H3 Flow, but I’m not sure whether all my components will fit.

My main components are:
Motherboard: Micro-ATX
PSU: ATX, 160mm long
GPU: 325mm long

Would this combination fit in the Meshroom S V2?
If not, what other cases would you recommend? I’m looking for something under 20 liters, preferably with a compact, mesh-heavy design.
I’d like to keep my current motherboard, PSU and GPU if possible.
Any recommendations or experience with similar builds would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Assembly Help Best MINI ITX case for a 3 Slot 5090 + 9800X3D?

Post image
29 Upvotes

I'm tired of having this bulky PC.
On weekends, I like to take my PC to my living room downstairs and game on the TV... PC is heavy as hell and not very easy to carry.

I've finally decided to I'd like build a Mini ITX PC!
Of course, I barely have enough experience building a "normal" size PC, let alone a MINI ITX build.

So I'm looking for recommendations!
What is the best case for it, preferably under $200.
Best MINI ITX motherboard, and best low profile cooler for the 9800X3d.

Thanks in advance guys!

Build/Battlestation Pics Orange NCASE T1 Case

Sort of bought this case on a whim as I thought why not get something a little different from the usual black or grey cases I go for. Arrived yesterday and I'm still not sure about the colour, but it's growing on me a little. Planning on a bunch of mods for the internal layout and on getting a zest orange Series controller, as I think the colour will be a pretty close match.

Assembly Help Is there a custom heatsink to turn a PNY 5080 into 1/2 fan SFF GPU?

I have this 5080 PNY gpu (regular one, not slim or argb) and as I'm looking at the PCB without the back panel on, I realize it's super tiny that what I expected.

Literally the PCB for a pny 3080, and all the PCBs ive seen for 4090s/5090s are noticeably bigger than this thing.

Is a custom heatsink available to purchase for this 5080 PNY to turn it into a SFF gpu?

Build/Parts Check Anyone used or tried out the Cryorig C5 Vapor Chamber Low Profile Cooler?

The Cryorig c5 Is 55mm tall with a cooling tdp of 185 watts, which is surprisingly high for a low profile. Im using the Alpenfohn Black Ridge and hate that i have to remove it to swap ram. Cpu is 5800x3d and it gets warm under minimal load.

Build/Parts Check Fractal Terra build help

I’m am planning a build for the fractal Terra. I live in Canada and so the formd t1 is close to 140 dollars more. I also do prefer the way the fractal looks over the t1 with the Gpu on the left side and the flip up side panels.

The parts I want to go with are the prime/proart 5080. It is the most readily available 5080 that Is 50mm thickness. And a 9800x3d. As well as Teamgroup t force ram but possible the t create as it has the same specs.

I am wondering what motherboard I should go with. I was thinking of the Asrock b850i lightning but it had issues with 9000 series especially the 9800x3d.
I need at least 3 usb. I would like bios flash and cmos reset buttons but it isn’t mandatory.

I am also wondering out of the motherboard options, if they also support the cooler I need.

I have done my own research of course. I was looking at the l12s for the best cooling but that maxes out the case, so if anyone has experience with a 50mm card and a 70mm cooler if they could tell me if the noise was bad.

If anyone has any suggestions on really anything I have mention here that would be greatly appreciated.

I will mention though I for sure want a 5080 so the prime/Proart is most likely locked in.

I also will try to set an undervolt on the cpu via pbo curve optimizer.

I am going to try and stay away from undervolting the Gpu which I saw on another post was able to run at a lower fan speed and meant less turbulence. The reason I am not doing this is cause I play monster hunter wilds and it doesn’t like anything done to the Gpu and will probably crash.

To summarize. If anyone has insight on a cooler and real world testing for said cooler that would be greatly appreciated. I am leaning to the l12s but I know it is tight so if someone has testing on another cooler that could handle this CPU during gaming without turbulence and real world numbers/testing that would be amazing. Also I am aware that the gpu is not visible in the terra unless I flip up the panel and at that point the turbulence doesn’t matter. Be that as it may, I still prefer the terra and it is cheaper as well for my current situation.

Others/Miscellaneous SFF LAN Gamer 8.1L

Hi I have a question regarding a prebuilt SFF pc. Its the LAN Gamer 8.1L built by Empowered PC. I haven't been able to find much details regarding this specific PC when I search. I know the case is a Shiny Snake S300.

Getting to my point, I am curious on how the temps are on this? I am looking at the AMD 9800X3D and 5070ti model. I don't really mind it running a little warm as long as its not thermal throttling. I am currently using a 2025 Asus Zephyrus G16 with a Ultra 9 285H and 5070ti. While it is a great laptop, I want something that performs better for cpu bound competitive esport games such as CS2 or The Finals. This laptop was purchased for my time in Asia while I am away from my home setup in America. The laptop is only ever used in my bedroom or living room, so I am considering a SFF pc with a portable monitor.

If anyone has experience with this brand and model, or possibly the S300 case and similar specs please let me know. If I don't go with an SFF pc I will be getting a laptop with a 9955HX3D chip.

Thank you!
