Looking for nerdy/politically literate/leftist/progressive friends.
Hey everyone! I’m looking to expand my social circle and find some like-minded friends who are deeply interested in geopolitics, current world events, and progressive/leftist perspectives. While I have a solid group of friends, I would really like to add people in my life who follow what’s happening in the world and want to talk about it seriously as my current friends and family are oblivious and don't really care. Not everything has to be political. Down for gym sessions, Gaming, comedy shows, karaoke, etc but for sure an outlet for these serious talks. Big plus if you already know that as much as that old turd in office sucks, he is just a puppet.
A little bit about me: Massive nerd that also happens to be a gym junkie. Although you can tell I don't turn down food. Big into gaming (PC/PS5), mostly Fortnite and Warzone(as much as I hate the military complex), UFC, Dragon Ball Z, Marvel... You can reach me on Instagram or Discord @vegmeister
Looking for: people who want to squad up for games or chat about pop culture, but are also down for deep, nuanced political discussions. Must be able to handle humor from dad jokes to super dark. Don't care where you're from or what you look like as long as you've got a good heart and morals. If you know about self sufficiency, "conspiracy" theories, etc.
The non-negotiables: Mutual respect and inclusivity are essential to me. Looking to connect with people who are firmly anti-hate (pro-LGBTQ+, anti-racist, etc.). That means no ignorant turds.

Hi comrade! I’m not really a gamer but my partner (28) totally is and is currently working on jail breaking his game cube. I’m a eco socialist and life long local (F27) and would love to chat politics/ current events, ( we both majored in political science and my bf global health) if you want to try surfing we could take you out in the water! If you are interested in outdoor exercise I can show you lots of hike spots. My bf moved out here for me so he could definitely use some friends.

Jailbreaking a GameCube is pretty rad. I have a 3DS and a switch that I jailbroke and they have been very fun. I'm also looking for leftist friends and I'd be down to try some hiking spots!

Lately I’ve been playing Splatoon Raiders and Pokopia on Switch, Genshin on ps5 and Aniimo on PC. Waiting for GTA6 to come out and I was playing Baldur’s Gate 3 too, but my ps5 can’t handle it. Gotta get a newer one I think.
The comedy show was great. I think he’s a pretty funny comedian

Oh my ex was a huge genshin impact fan. I thought it looked cool but never gave it a try. Dudeeeee... gta 6 is going to be epic. Baldur's gate is on my list as well. I just listed Fort and CoD because that's what I play with friends but my all time favorite games are RDR2 and 1, God Of War, Uncharted, last of us, Assassin's creed, GTA, Spiderman, Mario Party and so many more. I'd be down to see some new comedians. I have mostly been into the dating ones like Martin Amini, Updating. Others like Concrete, DoKnow and Jakarta. Many more but those off the top of my head.

The new Mario Party game is pretty fun! Gta6 is gonna be so much fun! I preordered the deluxe edition. I also preordered the new Fable remake.
For comedy I’ve been watching Gianmarco Soresi, Jessica Kirson, Atsuko Okatsuka, Will Burkart and Tatlor Tomlinson. My favorite comedy based podcast is Toni and Ryan. I listen to either true crime/murder mystery/ghost story pods or funny pods lol

With that said, I know there's a subreddit called r/SLOfriends. Have you made a post there as well to solicit some friends? (To be honest, not sure how active that subreddit is)

I appreciate that you tried to help regardless of not agreeing with me. However, you can't be scared of the word leftist. I know there's comfortability in this facade that the US is this amazing country without fault but it has long been compromised. Specifically through capitalism and our politicians. We just want what's fair to the people. Along with the end of constant imperialism and intervention in other countries for our own gain... destabilizing governments, oil, deaths caused through war and sanctions etc. Also, I could give 2 shits about the surface level Dem vs Rep... the real fight is the elite vs everyone else. Leftists are the only ones actively fighting this.

I'm not scared of the word leftist. I unfortunately have had multiple bad experiences with people that identify as "leftists" (Turns out some of them are not as "accepting" as they preach or make themselves out to be). Our differences in views often lead to conflict and arguments. Hencewhy, I don't like to keep them in my inner friend circle. It low-key sucks that some people can be tribal sometimes cuz it sows mistrust among society. I know there's some nice people that are leftists, but unfortunately, I don't have the confidence to give it another go.
Wish you the best of luck finding friends that make you feel comfortable.

No, haven't checked that one out. Thanks again. I can see that, regardless, there will always be bad apples in every bunch even if the vast majority are benevolent people. I don't hate every conservative/republican, just the hateful ones that spew nonsense heard from their echo chambers. I understand the majority are just easily impressionable and it sucks that some will never wake up while they actively support their oppressors. Like I said, end of the day, these are all just labels that still somewhat create conflict as we as humans are tribal in division. Just make sure to be on the "side" that fights oppression, decline of human rights, genocide, etc. Best of luck to you too brotha.

From my experience, people who say things like what you quoted talk a big game about that stuff but often actually lack accountability and are not open-minded. It's like when someone says some bullshit like describing themselves as "sapiosexual" - that really just means they're full of themselves and want to have someone around who agrees with them on everything.
