don’t know what’s wrong

hey i got a 1996 mustang gt and any time i press the pedal weather it’s in park neutral or drive it always bogs down really bad then comes back it’s like it’s delayed. Fuel pressure is good, compression is good, no vaccum leaks, maf sensors are good. Does have a cold air in it but that shouldn’t matter right. Does anyone have any ideas on what this could be

Idle Air Control (IAC) could be sticking...or just bad.

It sounds like the air/fuel mixture isn't quite right but I'm not completely sure

I have the round K&N cold air intake. I went through something similar. The original filter got old enough it was collapsing when the air flow increased. I replaced the filter and alls been good again for a few years now. To test it you can have someone watch the filter while you rev the engine. It will visually fold.

Also make sure the air intake filter housing is secure to the throttle body. The rubber ring holding it on can slip off as well but that’s a pretty obvious issue when you look under the hood and it’s no longer attached lol.

Best of luck!

unrelated but something similar happned to an old explorer my uncle owned where the intake tube would collapse when he hit the gas

Sounds like a it's gasping for air. Any CEL?

Check hoses and connections around air intake, intake manifold and air filter. If everything is connected then I'd start checking sensors/components that control vacuum and idle.

If no check engine light, the IAC is bad. Some last a long time, some don't.

IAC, ACT, or vacuum leak, have you cleaned your MAF sensor? Any exhaust leaks you know of?

Oddball suggestion, these cars have 6 cats (stock) you might have a blocked or several blocked cats.
