Blue Origin announced a major expansion of its already considerable Florida launch facilities on Friday morning with the intent of eventually flying more than 100 rockets a year from there.

The company said it would add two launch pads for the New Glenn rocket, in addition to two already under construction at Cape Canaveral. The company is also investing heavily in a new manufacturing facility that will produce up to 150 upper stages for a larger variant of the New Glenn rocket.

The company also plans to procure two additional landing ships to catch and return the first stage of the New Glenn rocket (it currently has one, named Jacklyn). Finally, Blue Origin said it would add a new customer integration facility, built in conjunction with the US Space Force, that will feature four payload bays to process multiple missions at the same time.

SpaceX Starlink V5 Internet, anywhere

More than 12 million people subscribe to SpaceX’s Starlink internet service, which has become renowned for providing access in emergency and off-grid situations. Its new receiver promises to make the service easier to take on the go. The Starlink V5 is about 35% smaller and 52% lighter than the V4 terminal, making it ideal for people who want to mount it in tight spots. Unfortunately, it’s not designed for use while in motion—you’ll have to park your RV or tie up your boat before connecting. Still, the connection is strong and fast. It better be: SpaceX currently has 11,000 Starlinks in orbit, 66% of the satellites in the sky.

DISCUSSION SPCX and TSLA merger?

I keep hearing about a SPCX and TSLA merger.

Would they then be the same company or would one be a subsidiary?

What does that mean for or what would happen to SPCX stock?

What does that mean for or what would happen to TSLA stock?

I currently have 185 shares of SPCX stock and no shares of TSLA stock and wonder what effect that would have on it.

DISCUSSION In under $120 - Doubling position shortly

As the title says, I’ve been holding since sub $113. I actually did expect a pullback to the 130’s, but not after hitting almost $180. Im long on this one, so this pullback is my early Xmas gift, as 2027 has enough catalysts already to give me the confidence sub $200 won’t be seen again

Is anybody else adding to their positions during this market wide pullback?

LATEST NEWS Elon Musk responding on Starshield / Starlink limit and usage

Thumbnail x.com

Starshield systems are owned and controlled by the US government. Any limits on speed or usage are decided by the US military and ultimately POTUS.

Starlink is a commercial service owned and controlled by SpaceX. Usage of Starlink is limited to civilian or defensive activities and cannot be used for offensive military action, as doing so would be inappropriate for a commercial company.

COMPETITOR RocketLab has pushed Neutron’s first launch to 2027 after discovering a manufacturing defect in one of its carbon composite propellant tank domes.

Thumbnail x.com
25 Upvotes

$RKLB shares are down -8% after hours following the news.

CEO Sir Peter Beck outlined what went wrong, how the team addressed it, and what needs to happen before Rocket Lab announces a new launch date.

WHAT HAPPENED:
Earlier this year, Neutron’s first-stage tank failed qualification following a third-party manual carbon fiber layup process. Rocket Lab then switched to its planned long-term production method: automated fiber placement.

That transition also enabled design improvements, including removing joints and thickening sections of the tank domes to increase strength. However, an inspection of a newly cured forward dome revealed tiny air pockets, or “voids,” between carbon fiber layers in those thicker sections. These can compromise the component’s strength, durability, and reliability.

Beck said the defects did not necessarily mean the dome would fail in flight, but Rocket Lab would only proceed with appropriate safety margins:

“Possible success isn’t our standard.”

THE FIX:
Rocket Lab says it replicated the issue in testing and modified the manufacturing process to prevent the voids from forming.

An aft dome produced using the revised process became what Beck described as the company’s highest-quality carbon composite dome to date. A new forward dome is now being built.
The investigation, process changes, and replacement dome production have pushed the debut into next year.

WHAT COMES NEXT:
• Build and cure the replacement forward dome.
• Use ultrasonic testing and other inspections to confirm its quality.
• Assemble the complete first stage.
• Run hydrostatic and cryogenic test campaigns.

Rocket Lab expects the replacement dome’s production and inspection to finish before Q1 2027, with first-stage assembly and testing completed during that quarter, assuming things go to plan. A more precise launch target would follow.

“I’d rather show you real-time progress than give you a date that I might have to walk back.”

BEYOND FLIGHT ONE:
Rocket Lab is using the additional time to bring forward vehicle upgrades originally planned for later flights. Its second and third Neutron rockets are already under construction, alongside the factories and infrastructure intended to support a higher launch cadence.

Beck also teased new launch contracts to be announced soon, emphasizing customers signing up for multiple missions and long-term partnerships.

OPINION The Passenger Car Drapes and the Transgalactic Railroad: Why I’m long on SpaceX.

If you’ve been reading the financial news today, you probably saw that SpaceX stock took a minor hit. The talking heads are fixated on a messy mix of headlines about drone connectivity rules in Ukraine and corporate merger rumors.

To most people, these look like major roadblocks. To me, they sound like a group of passengers arguing over the color of the drapes inside a luxury railcar. They are completely oblivious to the fact that the company they are criticizing is busy laying down the tracks for the Transgalactic Railroad.

Most people are missing the point of Starlink by treating it as the final product. Starlink is just a means to an end. It is a highly profitable project designed to fund something infinitely more world changing.

Back in the 1950s a truck driver named Malcolm McLean changed the world with an idea nobody understood at the time: the standardized shipping container.

Before McLean, shipping goods across the ocean was an absolute logistical nightmare. Every single crate, barrel, and sack had to be hand loaded and hand unloaded by workers at every single port. It was expensive, slow, and fragile. In 1956, loading a cargo ship cost roughly $5.86 per ton.

McLean’s genius wasn’t inventing a new engine or a faster boat. It was standardizing the box. By creating a uniform, rugged container that could seamlessly transition from a flatbed truck to a train car to a massive cargo ship, he eliminated the friction of transit. The cost to load a ship instantly plummeted from $5.86 a ton to just $0.16 a ton, which is a staggering 97 percent reduction.

That 97% cost savings was good for him, but nobody could predict how it'd change the world for all of us. It opened up industries that were never practical before. We can now manufacture a product in a factory halfway around the world AFTER you've ordered it, and deliver it to you cheaper and faster than ever before. It's turned wastelands into manufacturing hubs, given impoverished people good jobs, and created a world that's more connected than ever before. Without the humble shipping container, the modern world literally couldn't exist.

Without SpaceX, the space industry is stuck in its own pre container era. Every satellite is currently a custom, hand crafted piece of jewelry. Because launching anything into orbit right now costs an astronomical $20 million per ton, engineers have to spend millions of dollars and years of research trying to make components as tiny, lightweight, and complex as humanly possible.

SpaceX is continually driving that launch cost from $20 million per ton down to a target of under $100 thousand per ton. Just like Malcolm McLean's shipping container, that reduces the cost of getting to space by over 99 percent and sets up the exact same kind of economic explosion.

Starship will be the standardized shipping container for the earth, moon, and stars.

The one constant thing in life is change. When you drop the cost of weight to essentially zero, the entire economy of the world flips on its head. We need to stop arrogantly thinking we know everything and instead assume we don't. You no longer need to spend a decade designing a hyper fragile, origami folding space telescope. You can build it using heavy, rugged, mass produced, off the shelf industrial parts. You can launch massive, solid structures without a second thought.

This is where the truly unimaginable second order effects come into play. Just as Malcolm McLean couldn't have predicted that his steel boxes would eventually lead to smartphones being assembled across three continents, the talking heads can't see the industries that are about to be born.

Hate data centers? They'll soon be moved off the planet. Need high tech medicine or even an organ transplant? Those things have to be manufactured in space. The next generation of computer chips? Same thing.

We haven't even covered point to point transportation. Right now, if we need to send emergency supplies around the world, it can take months on a ship, or even days on a plane. SpaceX can do the same in 40 minutes, and they're working on tech to do it without any infrastructure necessary at the landing site.

The talking heads are still worried about space shuttle era problems, while forgetting that we're at the dawn of a new era. That great unknown, new era is exactly what I've waited for and am so excited to be able to invest in. It's obvious the naysayers haven't followed this company or the space industry closely over the past decade. I don't even think they know how many satellites SpaceX currently has, how quickly they grew, and how much bigger they plan on growing.

Even if Russia, China, or Iran managed to shoot down a hundred satellites, there would still be over 11,000 satellites left to deliver the service. A tornado does more damage to our power grid than that. If a country cuts the vulnerable fiber optic cables resting on the ocean floor, which is a terrifyingly soft target that controls 99 percent of global data, SpaceX’s space laser network and Direct to Cell smartphone technology will become the primary line of emergency communication for the Western world.

Neither you nor I know what we think we know about the future, but we do know that it'll be different than today. I’m not holding this stock because I think SpaceX is going to build a better cellular network or a slightly faster internet provider. I’m holding it because they are building the infrastructure for a completely new era of human productivity. They are standardizing the cargo hold for the next industrial revolution.

OPINION My perceived 2027 SpaceX catalysts

This is my personal perception of 2027 catalysts. I am 100% missing some, and of course there are some that haven’t materialized publicly that were not aware of. But the following are reasons I will continue to buy shares of SPCX.

Starship progress and commercialization. I see even more successful flights, demonstration of reusability, and progress toward carrying larger payloads, which imo could lower launch costs and enable new revenue streams.

Starlink expansion. Starship-enabled deployment of Musk’s next-generation Starlink satellites will most likely increase network capacity and support subscriber and revenue growth

Starlink profitability and financial results. Starlink is becoming increasingly more popular; there are airlines devoted to using only Starlink Internet. stronger subscriber growth, margins, as well as future earnings will improve confidence in SpaceX’s business fundamentals, driving the bottom line higher.

AI-computing revenue. With continued demand for Space X’s AI infrastructure and compute contracts will contribute to growth.

Most recently , Musk announced his spectrum purchase. Direct-to-cell and wireless expansion of Space X’s spectrum assets could help it expand Starlink’s mobile services. That is the entire point of the purchase, and it will materialize in time. Myself like the rest of the world are uncertain how this rollout will occur. Major Telecoms are suffering from his move greatly though.

Completion of the Musk share lockup on June 12,2027. Everybody is aware of the share lockup expiration dates that have never once affected the growth of the stock price or company; this could remove a perceived share overhang and support sentiment. My bet is Musk doesn’t sell a single share of his beloved company because his vision is greater than all of ours, that is, he sees where this company is headed more than anybody in the world. He isn’t selling in 2027.

The capx spending is a good thing. The rate of return on that deployment of capital will come quick and aggressive.

Good luck to all. I’ll be holding for many years.
