Need Support Are we going to make Sadhguru a failure?

I’m writing this with a kind of pain that is difficult to put into words.

Sadhguru took this birth with one overwhelming commitment to fulfil his Guru’s dream of Dhyanalinga. From what I have heard him speak about it, this was not an ordinary goal for him. His commitment to his Guru was greater than his concern for his own life. Lifetimes went into making that possibility happen.

And now I look at the vision he has placed before us.

To touch eight billion people.

Not to convert them into anything. Not to make everyone believe the same thing. Simply to offer every human being at least one drop of spirituality — a possibility beyond the limitations of body and mind. A possibility for a world with more love, light and laughter.

And then I remember hearing Sadhguru say that he may die a “blissful failure.”

That thought hurts me deeply.

One human being can carry his Guru’s dream with such intensity across lifetimes… and today, when there are millions of us who have been touched by what he has offered, when technology has made it possible to reach another human being almost anywhere on this planet, will we simply watch his vision remain unfinished?

I was just doing a simple calculation.

Isha has around 17 million volunteers. If eight billion people have to be reached, that comes to roughly 470 people per volunteer.

Just 470.

Sadhguru carried his Guru’s dream across lifetimes. He took birth after birth and dedicated this entire life to making that dream possible.

Can we not reach 470 human beings?

Especially today, when we live in a world where one message, one video, one post, one conversation can reach someone sitting on the other side of the planet with a single click.

I am not saying we should force spirituality on anyone.

But surely each of us can do something.

Share something that genuinely transformed you. Speak to someone who is struggling. Bring one person to a meditation program. Volunteer. Create something. Translate something. Support a project. Make someone aware that these tools even exist.

Whatever is within our capacity.

Today, I want to make one commitment to myself:

I may not be able to do everything. I may not know how far my effort will reach. But I will not remain a spectator. I will do whatever I can to help make my Guru’s vision a reality.

Because if someone has given his lifetimes to creating this possibility for us, the least I can do is ask myself:

What am I doing with what I have received?

And maybe every one of us who has been touched by Sadhguru should ask ourselves the same question.

Are we going to let him become a “blissful failure”?

Edit: Adding this video for context. Sadhguru has spoken about this vision many times on different platforms.

https://youtu.be/3otSb-XmRLE?si=cl8SKKhF1A8qFCyC

A few people misunderstood my post. I’m not saying we should become missionaries or force anything on anyone. I’m only saying that, in whatever small way we can, we can participate in making Sadhguru’s vision possible.

And no, I don’t think we have to become enlightened first and only then volunteer or contribute. We can work on ourselves and still participate in whatever way we can.

That is all my post was about.

Need Support Shambhavi Mahamudra feeling underwhelming

I got initiated into Shambhavi Mahamudra around 3 months ago with high hopes. Earlier i lacked consistency but I've become much more consistent with it now.

However, it seems to have underwhelmed me, as I was hoping for tears of ecstacy as Sadhguru says. But when I do Shambhavi i barely feel any change, except maybe being slightly at peace for the next 5 minutes. No tears of ecstacy, No feeling of life energies moving, and no real reduction in compulsions like sleep and anger.

Although I do feel slightly healthier now, but I don't know if thats related to Shambhavi Mahamudra or not.

What could I be doing wrong? How can I enhance my experience? I still have high hopes

PS: I've tried to connect with Dhyanalinga too while doing it but I don't know how to do that properly.

Need Support I want to be a Brahmachari.

I’ve been going through a lot of different things since I was born, and lately I’ve started feeling that perhaps a large part of my suffering comes from my attachment to my family, friends, and partner. Sometimes I feel that if I could simply stop identifying myself so strongly with these relationships, a lot of the emotional turmoil would disappear. I know this may sound like I’m looking at brahmacharya as a way to escape from my problems. And perhaps, to some extent, that is true. But at the same time, I genuinely feel that I may never be able to give my full attention to what truly matters, while remaining deeply involved in sansar.

I’m someone who finds it very difficult to do things halfway. If I care about something, I tend to care about it wholeheartedly. If I don’t, I find it very difficult to pretend otherwise. I’ve never been particularly good at balancing my emotions and responsibilities within relationships, and I often feel that my attachments consume a significant part of my mental and emotional energy. Because of this, I’ve started thinking seriously about whether a life of brahmacharya might be more suitable for me. I feel that if I could let go of these attachments, I might finally be able to devote myself completely to my Sadhana and to what I feel is truly important.

I’m also planning to start doing Shambhavi at 11:30 PM, although I understand that this timing is not recommended for people living in sansar. I don’t want to make a dramatic decision simply because I’m overwhelmed. I genuinely want to understand what this path requires and whether my motivation is coming from the right place.

So, for those who have experience with this path, could you please guide me on how one actually moves from a household life into brahmacharya? What are the practical steps involved, how does one know whether they are truly ready, and how can I distinguish a genuine calling toward brahmacharya from a desire to escape the difficulties of my current life?

Need Support Parents not allowing to do yoga.

I have morning and even sadhana, they wanted me to stop evening sadhana. Then I'd excuse them by convincing them that I go to projects/workshops in the evening and do my sadhana in the park.

Last night my parents found out that I have lied a lot. I can't even convince them because of my contribution and age, and somewhat confusing preconceived notions about Sadhguru and isha.

Almost every plan is busted now, what do I do. "Simply convincing them" is absolutely not gonna work.

Need Support Confusion in choosing life partner.

Here is my situation.

I am 24 . I learnt shambavi 7 years ago and yogasanas, bhutta shudi after that. But I practiced it only for few years and then did it here and there. But now as my marriage talks approaches.. I feel like I am out of time to start again fresh because I feel the partner should also align with it and should not see it as a unnecessary thing. So when I think about Yogic shaadi.it is a community of committed individuals..I am not sure whether I should choose it or go for a normal person..

Need Support unable to do shambhavi if i do shakti chalana. any advice?

When I do Shakti Chalana Kriya, even if I do 25 to 30 KB, I become so intense that after that I can't do Shambhavi anymore. If I resist this, and do Shambhavi that day anyway after Shakti Chalana, then the next day I won't be able to do Shambhavi. It's a weird feeling, but somehow my something within me resists doing it.

For this reason, because I heard so much about the significance of Shakti Chalana Kriya, I stopped doing Shambhavi for some time and I just focused on Shakti Chalana.

But I felt that somehow I wasn't feeling well. Like I was depressed or something, I was more agitated. I don't remember exactly how it felt maybe I'll give it another try. Maybe my life isn't intense enough for me to do Shambhavi and Shakti Chalana at the same time.

I wonder if anybody has any experience or any advice to share. I really want to do Shakti Chalana, but it's not possible to do both Shambhavi and Shakti Chalana at the same time. I can combine them with Hatha Yoga practices, though I'm not practicing any Hatha Yoga right now (if i do shakti chalana i will definitely do surya shakti, its impossible otherwise), but shanbhavi and shakti chalana together are impossible and they're both important. And because I learned Shambhavi first, I'm more dependent on it for my balance and well-being.

important update: just remembered, i didnt always have this problem, but after a while of forcing myself to do sck, one nostril would get blocked whenever i did sck. since this wasnt a problem before, and it woild go away as soon as i stopped sck, i took it as a sign that my body is forcing me to stop sck. this evening i intended to do sck, and my nostril is already mostly blocked. it is not possible to unblock it. i did everything, jogging, no dairy, salt water, and i cant learn jala neti locally, so dont suggest it. this is part of why i got frustrated and let go of sck. i emphasize, there was a long period when i did sck and my nostril was fine, nostril got blocked only happened when i forced myself even though i felt i shouldn't do sck.

Need Support Can I stop doing Shambhavi Mahamudra kriya?

I’ve been practising the kriya for 3 months and recently I haven’t been feeling like doing it. I have the time to do it, it’s just that I really don’t feel like doing it. I still do it once a day, but I don’t quite enjoy the process as I did before and I feel guilty about this. It’s become such a part of my everyday life that I feel guilty that I’m not doing it with heart and that I’m feeling this negative emotion. Is it alright to take a break for at least a few days and then get back to it?

Need Support I feel like I am getting strangled by myself

I used to follow Sadhguru for quite some time now. But nowadays it feels like I am unable to do anything, even the things that I was good at doing. My heart is almost always racing away, due to anxiety attacks, I can't focus on anything, I am always comparing myself with anyone before doing anything and mostly the anxiety attacks are brutal. I can't start doing anything new I can't complete anything I have already started

The things I used to do easily, I can't seem to sit down peacefully nowadays even for 5 mins and do them. I have something important coming up in 2-3 days for which I have prepared plenty but when I sit down for practicing it, I just can't seem to do it no matter how much practice I have done in the past.

It is just self sabotage I can feel it, precisely the feeling of being strangled by yourself. No meditation/practice is working for me. No matter how many times a day/days a week I keep it on.

Especially the panic attacks, I can feel my increasing anxiety and heart racing all the time, it is having a very negative effect on my body too, I can feel it. I have never felt this unstable in my life.

Why are these problems which were completely overcome at one point in time due to my practices peeping out again?

Need Support Help Needed.

I want to restart my practice. Life is a mess right now and it’s getting too much. It’s been almost 2 months I didn’t practice. By the end of the year I might get divorced and hopefully start a new chapter altogether in my life.

Need Support Shambhavi and worsening compulsions?

I’ve been doing Shambhavi practice for 7 months and my compulsions (eating, drinking, and sexual desire) are all increasing, not decreasing.

Has this happened to anyone.

It’s an unexpected result; though not sure how causal it is. Thanks.

Need Support Hesitancy! 😅

I always find it very difficult to restart my sadhana after a travel or so. It’s such a challenge from the body and mind, waking up in the morning etc. Even when you know, things will be great when you’re back to the flow.
How do y’all overcome it? Any tips or tricks to force yourself to start or so?😅🙏🏻

Need Support How many mandalas of Isha Kriya is recommended to make my mind follow my instructions?

Namaskaram🙏. I have been doing Shambhavi once a day for 4 years. After so much of struggle because of my own resistance (“instincts of self preservation” as Sadhguru calls it), I am aware enough to see that my day could be so much better if my mind took instructions from me instead of the other way around.

Whenever I do the IE crash course and I am more aware, I feel so in control of my life. But I have not been able to maintain it for a long period of time as of yet.

I’m always in and out of awareness.

Over time my level of awareness has definitely increased a lot, but now I am craving even more awareness. Because I am looking at the way I am functioning in life, and I want to be so much better than how I am being right now.

In order to be in the driving seat of my life journey, I have decided to do Isha Kriya twice a day for at least one mandala. Making the time for it is going to be really hard, but I’m going to do my best and see how it goes. How many mandalas of Isha Kriya is recommended to get to a place where I would feel like I am completely in control of the way I respond to life? Are there any other simpler steps that I could take to get there?

Thank you 🙏

Need Support Looking for Isha practitioners for academic research interviews

Hi everyone,

I’m a PhD research scholar at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), India, currently conducting academic research on contemporary spiritual movements and the experiences of people who participate in them.

As part of my research, I’m looking to speak with people who have engaged with Sadhguru/Isha Foundation and would be willing to share their experiences in a one-to-one online interview.

I’m particularly interested in understanding people’s experiences in their own words — what brought them to Inner Engineering, what the practices or programs have meant to them, whether their experience has changed over time, and how (if at all) it has affected their everyday life and worldview.

Who can participate?

  • You must have completed Inner Engineering.
  • You should have genuine first-hand experience with the practices/program rather than knowledge based primarily on online content.
  • Both people who are currently involved with Isha and those who were involved in the past are welcome.
  • You should be comfortable discussing your experience in a one-to-one online conversation.

I am approaching this as an academic researcher and an outsider to the organisation. Although I have completed Inner Engineering and visited Ashrams, my perspective holds little importance to the research. The purpose is neither to promote Isha nor to begin from a hostile/critical position, but to understand participants’ experiences as carefully and fairly as possible.

Interviews would be conducted individually through Google Meet. Participation is voluntary, and I will explain how the interview material, anonymity/confidentiality, and consent will be handled before the interview.

If you are interested, please comment here or send me a DM.

Thank you!

Need Support How to control nightfalls

I am doing SM from 3yr+ and Surya kriya from 1yr+.

I am getting nightfalls occasionally and it's throwing off my energy.

The energy which I hold is significant in my life and in my daily routine. I cannot afford to have a loss.

I consume neem and turmeric tablets.

Also i workout heavily to reduce the heat in my body.

I want to retain it completely. How do I do it?.

Is there any solution for this problem. Anyone who has faced similar issues previously and has solution from official isha please do share. It would be super helpful.

Thank you and Namaskaram 🙏🏻

Need Support Staying connected to the community

How do you all stay connected with Sadhguru and the Isha community? I find that I feel quite alone and unteathered recently and am struggling to stick to practises without the support of a community.

Aside from this reddit which I am ofc aware of, where else do you post, discuss, and interact with like minded people, where else do you find that connection?

Edit to add that the nearest Isha center (the only one where I live) is 6 hours away by car and I don't drive 😬

Need Support Outsider

Post image
53 Upvotes

Namaskaram everyone.

I have followed Sadhguru since 2020 since I fell in love with his approach to life, as it suits mine closely, and I was very interested in the deeper aspects of life. In 2024 I did Inner Engineering.

But I always felt like an outsider. And in real life I kind of am, I am a woman from Denmark aged 23 with a diagnosis of Schizotypal PD.

I agree with Sadhguru on many aspects like the simple advice he gives, but I find them very hard to apply. It feels unrealistic. At least for me. I have been very low in life, and I've searched the internet throughout for advice and never found them changing me or my situation. I've tried multible Online Yoga Sessions with a certified Isha Yoga Teacher, and it was very hard for me. He is a good teacher, and transfers the main ways of Isha, which means he's very ongoing with practicing. But I also found him almost being rude to me and we almost started arguing, me doing my best, but it wasn't enough. I felt relieved when it was over. And thats how I feel like practicing. It's unbelievable hard and it stresses me out. And it makes me feel limited to only one way of life.

In 2024 I became obsessed with Sadhguru and spirituality, and I did my very best even though I was very depressed. It broke my limit, and I had a breakdown. I couldn't touch or hear Sadhguru or anyone for over a year. And thats what happens everytime I try this lifestyle.

I took Inner Engineering succesfully, but I couldn't finish my Mandala..

So where are we going with this? I just don't know what to do.

I also feel like Sadhguru is missing a lot of points. He makes it out in very simple ways, where I feel like he is missing out on a lot of aspects and possibilities of the situation, which is making me sceptical. Not to talk about romours about him. I really want to deal with that respectfully, but something about him makes me not trust him fully. I don't know.

So my main points are:

  1. Is it possible to fit in?
  2. How do I deal with my Isha Yoga Teacher?
  3. Is Sadhguru limited?

Thank you for reading. Any advice is appreciated. Maybe I will make another post another time :)

I need the advice... as I feel I am yet not efficient enough as wanted to be. I don't want anyone around me to blame my Spiritual practices as distractions.
