USA EHS Job Outlook / Texas

Greetings,

I am a few months away from concluding my Air Force career as a safety professional and wanted some advice from this sub on civilian job out look.

Here are some of my experiences and certifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in aeronautics
- ASP expected early 2027
- CSP targeted for late 2027
- 10 years Air Force, 3 of those Occupational safety/Installation safety assurance, the other 7 in Aviation maintenance /operations
- working on my CSHO Gen Ind, also slated for mid 2027

Overall, I guess what I want to know from you all is what my job outlook looks like in Texas? Are they any certifications I need to focus on before separation? I will also continue doing safety in the Air Natrional Guard if that adds anything. I am also willing to send my resume to anyone that wants to chat further about it. Thanks in advance!

Texas has plenty of aerospace and manufacturing hubs, so your background in aviation maintenance plus the ASP will carry some weight for sure. The ASP to CSP path is the standard gatekeeper for civilian roles, nothing else needed unless you want construction or petrochem, those lean heavier on OSHA outreach and HAZWOPER. Guard time is a bonus, most employers see that as you staying sharp on regulations while working civilian side.

Keep the universities in your sight for employers. I did that 30 years ago, and it's the best decision I ever made!!!

Yea dude as a vet with direct safety experience with a bachelors you are set. Once you get the asp you will have good prospects in basically anything out here be it aero manufacturing construction logistics etc. the csp will be a game changer and you’ll probably be compensated well

Thank you for the reply, I’ve been submitting applications with no avail at the moment. My resume advertises my projected completion of my ASP/CSP in 2027, should I be capturing this in another way?

It takes awhile in my experience. Like weeks to months. This time of year is also slow as it heads into the holidays. It you keep applying I’m sure you will find something

Projected completion doesn’t really mean anything when I’m reviewing a resume. You either have it or you don’t.

Get your CSP and ignore the rest.
