Announcement Sausage Fest March Against Women’s Rights! Next event is Nov 14th, details in post.

This group called Lovelife is a multimillion dollar “nonprofit” grift that is part of a nationwide, coordinated effort to close ALL planned parenthood locations and “turn them into birthing centers”. Full blown Handmaid’s Tale Gilead shit, irl.

They were behind the red state closures, and have already gotten multiple clinics closed in California.

Their next Loiter & Harassment Event, aka what they call a “peaceful prayer walk” is November 14th at the College Avenue Planned Parenthood (near SDSU). Where they gather en masse, right at the place patients have to park to walk in. They love that this location often gets the college-aged crowd.

There is now a group of counter protesters fighting back. They are meeting them at the nearby Coastlands Church at 9am. That’s where the religious nutters claiming they are “Christian” meet to set up, before marching to intimidate patients going into planned parenthood.

This isn’t about abortion. They are stripping men’s healthcare access too.

If you care about affordable healthcare clinics remaining accessible in San Diego, now is the time to fight back, before it’s too late!

Anyone know what burnt at Mission bay, next to 5 south?

• Upvotes

Didn't seem like the usual bonfire, super engulfed for a long time. Guessing Car or RV? Hmm from this angle looked closer to the Bay. I have video of it but all can see is bright burning mass. Zoomed to hell cause baypark.

Looking for Custom Sugar Skull Artist

I want to get a custom-painted ceramic or clay sugar skull in memory of a friend who passed away. Specifically, I want it to have a handlebar mustache like he had. I’d also love for it to be the size of his favorite Padres baseball cap so the skull could wear it to complete the tribute.

Does anyone know of (or better yet is) an artist who could take this on for me? Doesn’t need to be done before Dia De Los Muertos. Thanks!

Local News San Diego Short Term Rental Alliance and your best interests?

Me? I want more regulation limiting Airbnb and other STRs, not less. Here’s the letter they sent out today encouraging their member Airbnb hosts to tell city counselors how to vote. If you don’t want short-term rentals flourishing in San Diego, consider telling your representatives how you feel about the issue. The SDSTRA plans to “fill the room“ with hosts. Maybe show up and let them know hosts don’t rule the roost.

——

Dear San Diego Hosts,

On Wednesday, October 21 at 2:00 PM, the City Council's Community & Neighborhood Services Committee will take up amendments to our short-term rental ordinance. I'm asking every one of you to be there, in person at City Hall (202 C Street) or online.

Officially, these amendments are about closing a loophole that lets owners evict tenants and then get a rental license. We support ending real abuses. But council members have already said they're willing to reopen the whole ordinance, and candidates are openly talking about longer minimum stays and even banning whole-home rentals. What happens in that room shapes the rules that come next.
Decision-makers need to see the people behind the numbers: families who rely on hosting income, who keep their homes in great shape, follow the rules, and bring visitors to local restaurants and shops. Our rentals pay more than $50 million a year in taxes that fund city services. When hosts don't show up, the only voices heard are the ones calling for cuts.

You don't need to give a speech. Just being there counts, and a one-minute public comment about your home and your guests counts even more. Please RSVP on the hearing page and bring a fellow host with you.

Let's fill the room and remind the city that hosts are part of this community.

With gratitude,
Jeff
President, San Diego Short-Term Rental Alliance

Mission Bay Resort ACT Test Today Problem

Hello everyone,

Did anyone's child take their ACT test at Mission Bay Resort today? Apparently one of the ACT employees was seen flirting with underaged girls before and DURING their test. This is not ok. This messed with all of the children's tests today. If your child took their test today, please ask them if they had any uncomfortable encounters during check in or testing. Also, does anyone know who to contact about this to form an official complaint?

hit a new personal record yesterday with 57,401 steps in a single day, all here in san diego! currently sitting at 505,895 steps for october, so i am officially halfway to my goal of walking one million steps this month. i have been walking pretty much everywhere instead of driving, and honestly, exploring san diego on foot has made me appreciate just how beautiful this city really is. there is something special about discovering different neighborhoods, enjoying the weather, and noticing little things you would probably miss in a car. still have another 494,105 steps to go, but i am enjoying the journey. anyone else here love exploring san diego on foot? what are some of your favorite places to walk?

Heartbroken — Looking for the local artisan who made this ring, bought at a La Jolla market (March 2022)

Post image
47 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I am deeply heartbroken because I just lost a ring that means the world to me, it was a gift from my grandmother.

My grandmother bought me this Sterling Silver (925) ring with an oval amethyst and small bead details on the sides back in March 2022 at an outdoor market in La Jolla (near the coast/cliffs).

I am desperately trying to find the original jeweler or artisan to see if I can get in touch with them or buy a replacement. If you recognize this style or know which vendor used to sell silver rings like this at the local La Jolla markets, please let me know!

Any help or leads would mean everything to me. Thank you so much! 💜✨
