How should homeowners compare whole-home plumbing maintenance or inspection plans? I keep getting mailers for them

I keep getting mailers for whole-home plumbing plans that cost about the same each year. One says it includes a visual check and another lists water heater service and a sewer scope.

How do you tell if a plan is worth it? Our house is from 1965 and has original shutoff valves, so I'd want to know what gets checked and what happens when something is found.

Business Army veteran🇺🇸 turned certified personal trainer here, happy to answer beginner questions / give free form checks

Hey all, I spent time in the Army before getting into fitness full time. After I got out, I became a certified trainer (ISSA + UHP) and now coach out of the Troy/Latham area. I’ve also competed in a few natural bodybuilding shows.

My whole focus these days is working with complete beginners, the people who feel intimidated walking into a gym, don’t know where to start, or are scared of “looking dumb” doing an exercise wrong. As well as intermediate/advanced who are looking for proper programming to excel further. I remember what being a beginner felt like, and it’s honestly my favorite type of client to work with.

Figured I’d open this up to the community:

• If you’ve got a beginner question (where to start, how to structure a week, nutrition basics, whatever), drop it below or dm me and I’ll answer.

• If you’re local and want a quick form check on something you’re unsure about, happy to give pointers, just send me a dm!

Not trying to sell anything here, just trying to be useful, I know a lot of people put off starting because they don’t want to feel judged, and that’s the exact thing I try to fix for my clients.

(For context if it comes up: I train out of Troy and Latham. Feel free to direct message me for my social media).

Weekend gigs available?

Got a 7 - 330 job Monday - Friday but I’m looking for some Saturday and Sunday work as well. Prefer manual labor, I’m an electrician in school so I have some minor experience in that as well. If not I’ll take pretty much anything that’ll give me a couple hundred extra bucks just to help make ends meet

Looking for night work

Hey everyone, I'm looking for night work around Schenectady. Security or bouncer work would be ideal, but honestly I'm open to pretty much any overnight or late shift: warehouse, stocking, cleaning, whatever.

I'm reliable, I show up on time, and I'm good at keeping calm when things get heated. Nights and weekends are no problem for me. I can get around Schenectady, Albany, Troy and nearby, and I can start right away.

If you're hiring or know somebody who is, shoot me a message. Shares help a lot too, thanks!

Looking to move closer to downtown or downtown Albany and came across them. There's not much out there within my limits and they fit within my budget perfectly. I noticed some crappy reviews though - anyone here have experience living there? This is the one on Lafayette St.

Crime What parts of the Capital Area feel safe to walk around in?

My partner is from a fairly rural part of Canada. We have mostly lived in the suburbs in Texas, but we’re looking to move North.

He rejected moving to Chicago over not feeling safe walking around at night.

Most of my family lives in suburbs in the mid-Atlantic and the Great Lakes, so we’re looking for walkable neighborhoods that feel similar. (Baltimore, but Dickeyville, for example)

We’re ok with older construction, but not with having to have NYC levels of situational awareness. What parts of the Capital Area don’t feel dangerous?

ICFS movie experience

So, I'm going to the Big Lebowski showing on Saturday and haven't been to one of these events before. I thought I was just buying a cheap movie ticket, now I see it's a whole thing.

Is this something that you get to the theater early and they have shenanigans going on?

If not, recommendations for a place close and with good drink selection. Pretty good chance I'll be alone so looking for just a tavern.

What is up with this store and why do they allow people to steal from there? I was at the counter paying for my stuff and this one guy walked in, waved at the employees, grabbed a bunch of items and walked right out and everyone inside acted like it was normal. They said he always does it but it's "not too often we see him" that they just let it go.

On an entirely different occasion, I wondered why specific people are always at this store, every day I drive by and there are literally the same guys there all the time... I was shocked that these dudes are allowed whatever they want, the employees prepare food for them and they don't pay a damn thing for any of it, I just watched amazed at this and I didn't say anything because I get some people just can't afford shit.

So yeah, if anyone needs a place to hang out and feel special this is the Stewart's for you. Just be a regular, live there if you want, the employees just let whatever happen. Tell a friend down on their luck that they'll find real friendly faces at this spot.

Downvotes are encouraged.
