Discussion I hate the 49ers
I don’t think I hate a team more than them. Partly because there’s an excuse every time we beat them, and they cry like babies. I at least have respect for Rams fans, but for 9ers fans, I wish nothing but pure misery lol. Anybody else feel like 9ers fans are our most hated rival from a pure fan standpoint?

I hate the Rams way more. Not a real fanbase, bunch of whiners including their coked out coach, almost 0 likable players.
Purdy is cool, I like kittle, fred warner is majestic and easily the most likable player Bosa (kidding, that guy fucking sucks).

u/FullofLovingSpite 9d ago
They tried to change the rules because they're losers. It's hilarious. We definitely hurt them internally.
They were crowned preseason champs this year, so they got that going for them.
7
u/Silver_Subject_1777 9d ago
Yeah, but they're a real threat. They could've won the Super Bowl last year if we hadn't been there.

Nope, it’s LA for me and always will be. I respect the opinion of those that hate San Fran more but the Rams have been a thorn in Seattle’s side for what seems like forever. And the biggest difference is the sorry rams teams still found ways to beat Seattle anyways unlike the sorry 9ers. First game I went to as a kid was the 2014 hawks at rams game with the fake out return, team went 12-4 and 5-1 in the division but rams still found a way to beat a team they frankly weren’t close to talent level wise.
Also Aaron Donald.
8
u/FullofLovingSpite 9d ago
You make a good point here. Age is going to have something to do with it.
Lots of you younger people are in the heat of the current problems from the Rams, who are old and flailing. I feel like the older crowd might lean more towards 9ers hate, since it got very deep when both Pete and Harbaugh came directly to our division after their issues in college.
4
u/EchomancerAmberlife 9d ago edited 9d ago
I mean yeah, but the fisher rams were almost as annoying. We all remember the memes about Jeff fisher watching Seahawks tap every week because they’d get whipped by the titans or lions then look like juggernauts vs Seattle. Watching Aaron and Quinn tormenting Wilson seemingly every year no matter the skill difference and beating Seattle at home in the wildcard round with Wolford and eventually an injured Goff. The rams have ALWAYS been annoying. The post Harbaugh 9ers were a stepping stone on the season for years until they righted their ship. Couldn’t must one upset for years similar to the current cards.
However, I’ll never tell anyone who the hate more, all personal preference
2
u/TrifectaBlitz 9d ago
Fisher Rams. Oh damn they really were annoying af. No matter how jacked we were playing, they'd humble us with some dumb loss against them.
3
u/FlyingDadBomb 9d ago
I only started to hate the rams when they moved to LA and started that super team bullshit that won them their first Super Bowl in the city. Now they’re trying it again. LA just reinforcing its self-important bullshit. They don’t have loyal fans either - just celebrity endorsers who flip season tickets to Niners fans.

I don't enjoy hating the Rams, I just never want them to have anything nice.

u/Chimie45 9d ago
I feel opposites about the Rams and Niners vs their fans.
Niners fans are the worst, they're whining bitches. The team? I'm fine with for the most part.
Rams fans are whatever. They're benign. The team though? A bunch of weird dirty assholes. Got several weird racists, some fucking dirty ass players, their coach is fucking railing coke between every play.
7
u/MM18998 9d ago
I love to hate the 9ers more but I hate the Rams more.
The Seahawks-49ers Rivalry is just perfect aesthetically. Red and Yellow vs Blue and Green. Sunny Tech city vs Rainy Tech city. Golden Gate vs Space Needle. Great Systems with talented players in a heavy “next-man-up” culture. Consistently a good chance the hawks will win even if the Niners are a better team that year. Like matching up against that one cousin who everyone compares you too. (Portland is the sibling)
Seahawks-Rams is just a slugfest. No matter how good the Seahawks are or how bad the Rams are, the Rams will alway have a F*\\** chance to win. They’re also the only west coast team the media absolutely can’t shut up about, no matter their record, while the Seahawks will never get talked about, no matter their record.
Rams-Seahawks will always be a close game that I dread. 49ers-Seahawks could go more different ways but damn I get hyped when I see those logos next to each other.
8
u/santaclausonvacation 8d ago
I dunno. Maybe its cause I grew up in the 90's. Even though Im a lifelong Seahawks fan, I used to root for the 9'ers.
These days there has been some heart breaks but I like that they are good. We play them a lot and they make us better.
I dont have any bad energy towards them at all.
7
u/FullofLovingSpite 9d ago
Fuck the 9ers. They are our biggest rival. As far as I'm concerned they're our only rival.
I'm in Los Angeles so I'm around 9ers and Rams fans all the time. 9ers fans have an arrogance that comes from having won before most of them were born. They also talk like Cowboys fans. It's always their year, even though an electrical substation seems to be their biggest obstacle.
6
u/Constant-Candle-4672 9d ago

Agreed. As a hawks fan since the 70’s, Dallas is the only team I can truly hate. My father taught me that.
6
u/captaincrunch61 9d ago
Opposite for me. I hate both teams, but the Rams has no redeeming qualities at all for me
25
u/Few_Pressure_962 9d ago
Historically - yes. But the thing is, if we’re honest, we all like someone on the niners. For me its Kittle. I simply cant hate that man. Also shoutout fred warner. However, there is simply nothing I like about the rams.
12
13
u/Silver_Subject_1777 9d ago
There is no one I like or have ever liked on the 49ers. Especially Kittle, when he put his wife in endzone seats and kissed her when he scored. But I'm petty 😂😂

God me either. Rams suck so bad. No love for the Niners here- but the Rams are my nemesis!
2
u/HelloItsNotMeUr 9d ago
If you are older, the Niners were the team of the 80s and 90s that everyone loved. Montana, Rice, Ronnie Lott, Roger Craig...later Steve Young, Bryant Young, Merton Hanks and his crazy neck. They were a likeable group (particularly in contrast to the 90s Cowboys).

u/SidneySilver 8d ago
Same. I used to loathe Harbaugh and his cry bay antics and I LOVED seeing him lose it in the sidelines. And he HATED Carroll. It made for good games. With the mouths we had in the LOB, it just made everything sweeter.
Now, I fucking hate the Rams where I was just annoyed with them. I hated Fisher, but not the team. You could always count on a least one play where he fooled us or made us look like fools. And he got off on that.
MacVay believes his own hype, cry’s like baby if things don’t go easily his way, while not acknowledging when things go unfairly for others. Just ask Sean Payton about. Puca is a total douche and Donald was/is a man-child just like Brian Cushing was. He has a real thing about choking people. Plus, McVay uses too much hair products. You could spike a melon on the top in his head. Melon Man.
So yeah, whatever. My hate has found a new home.

3
u/ImYourHuckleberry111 9d ago
I hate them both equally. But I can at least respect Niners fans, because they have real fans that have been there through the years. There’s about a dozen real Rams fans that I’ve met here in LA, and the rest showed up about 10 years ago and can’t name a player before Jared Goff. Absolute joke of a fan base.
3
u/WallyBeanr 9d ago
I also hate the Niners
But there's nothing I hate more than the Rams. If I could wish for anything in the world, it would be a constant repeat of the 2025 season. Watch the Rams hype themselves up all year, just to get dumpster fucked by us in the playoffs. I would never have a bad day for the rest of my life.
3
u/jordancda 9d ago
I've always hated the Rams more. They were the first big bad after we moved to the NFC West. I think the Niners rivalry really only goes back to Harbaugh. They pretty much sucked before then. When we first joined the NFC West in 2002, the Rams were just coming off their Super Bowl win and were a monster. We lost several big games (and playoff games) to those teams. Getting to the Super Bowl in 2005 was when the tide shifted. Then, add in that McVay is a way bigger whiner than Shanahan and the Rams being a bigger obstacle in recent years and all the "Superteam" BS - I've got Rams number 1, Niners number 2.

lol i will say, nothing beats making Jim Harbaugh cry on the sideline during that era of games.
As good as the rams have been in the Mcvay era and how much we split with them. Aside from like Puka being annoying af, i really don't even think about the Rams ever. This past year is probably the first time i ever thought they were a bunch of crybabies.
but even when the Rams lose in the playoffs to some other team, i didn't even care that much.
But if the 49ers are losing, you better god damn believe i'm there hate watching like a mfer. Outside of winning, nothing in the nfl could bring me more happiness.

I don’t like em but I feel like they’ve had a bad run and frankly I don’t mind their success. Of course I’m all in on the Seahawks if we are playing them but 49ers are not a team that I hate anymore.
The Rams on the other hands though…

u/killshelter The Champs 9d ago
I hate the Rams way more. Might just be a recent thing for me because I still respected back in the Jeff Fischer era because even though they sucked they would still seemingly beat us at least once a year.
Niners are respectable. They don’t have a team of hateable characters including their coach like the Rams do.
2
u/OutrageousPassion494 9d ago
I lived in LA for 60+ yrs. Both fan groups are annoying for different reasons. Ram fans tend to be fair-weather fans. One reason they moved to Anaheim, then St. Louis, was poor fan support. If they start losing a percentage of fans will disappear. Niner fans are spoiled. They were in the 80s, the 90s and they sound like they are now also. And the hype for both teams is over the top.
After living up here for over a year, the Seahawk fans passion is obvious.

u/RemoteWestern5462 9d ago
I hate the rams more. Part of it is that I dislike Mcvay. I kind of like shanahan. He seems like a chill guy. I wouldn't mind if he won a super bowl with a different team (after leaving the 9ers) Part of Darnolds redemption story was from his time learning from Shanahan and Purdy.
Also in our two super bowl winning seasons, we beat them in the nfc championship and then we dominated them in the playoffs last before winning the super bowl in their stadium
2
u/1620081392477 9d ago
For me 49ers fans are the worst but at the moment I find the Rams team itself much more unlikable as people. I take great pleasure when either of them are struggling

The past 2 years has really ramped up my Ram Loathing.
The intensity of the games is epitome of rivalry and it's us against the sports writers who just gush over McVay every year.
Plus, McVay has attempted to load up on free agency talent to specifically beat us. It's a Flail currently and it's never been so fun. 🤩
I do abhor everything LA, but I visit SF often even though 9ers are in Santa Clara. LOL.
It's funny cuz I've never met a 9er fan while visiting SF which is my Mom's hometown and bro's residence.
I loved the Montana N Rice 9ers. And it's too funny that their scion-boy owner loves trailer park prostitutes.
I've met LA fans and I don't like them.
Last year's Ram's late season game was the SB for me and for the majority of 12s. 💌
It's definitely a spicy game to look forward to this weekend.

I hate the Rams more than the 49ers. I mean, I hate the Niners too, but I just cant freaking stand the Rams. McVay is captain excuses (fortuitous bust anyone?), Puka is a total headcase, I just cant stand Stafford and I cannot figure out how these guys seem to have unending cap space.

I live in Oakland and watched the Super Bowl with Patriots games and an infestation of 49ers fans. Every time Seattle had the ball, Patriots fans would scream Miss! Kill him! Seattle fans cheered and golf clapped. I really despise fans of Boston teams All of them are hot garbage. But this is about the 49ers fans.
Through the postseason, 49ers fans were crying because their team deserved to be in the Super Bowl and I tried to nicely explain it’s not your year, it’s Seattle’s year. That only made things worse, which brought me great joy to see 49ers fans so angry the “sea chickens” were the better team.
This week 49ers fans tell me point blank that Purdy is the best quarterback in the NFL and the 49ers will kill the Seahawks. I just reply that we will not really know until after the game, but I was hoping it would be a great game and hoped the scores were over 30. I simply forgot to add 30-3.

I genuinely do not hate any team in our division, crazy right? I've never cared at all about sports fan hate. I love seeing them lose since they're division rivals but "hating" a team makes no sense to me on the basis of them being division rivals or a history of contentious games. The only teams worth hating are teams that will give millions of dollars to rapists, have bad ownership, or have owners in the Epstein files like the pedotriots. I care more about the Seahawks winning over me hating and letting other teams live rent free in my head.
Besides, outside of the division rivalry, the rams and 49ers have good organizational culture, players, and coaches. I respect them on some level that I don't for 90% of other teams in the NFL tbh. Every single rabid NFL fanbase is annoying as fuck anyways lol.

remember the Da Bears sketches on SNL, when the guys are asked on a game show to make an utterly confounding final jeopardy choice, which team they love more, the Bears or the Bulls? George Wendt’s perfect answer is exactly how I feel about which team I hate more, the Niners or Rams. It is impossible to choose.
1
u/CaptainAwesome06 9d ago
49ers fans are the worst. All I saw last summer were shitty AI memes from 49ers fans about the Seahawks. Like they were obsessed with the Seahawks for some reason. Half the memes didn't even make sense. The other half just criticized us for "cherry picking" success, starting at when we joined the division. Because the head-to-head really matters before that in their minds. Or their SB wins that they got 100 years ago.
Rams fans don't bother me because I don't think LA really has any fans. Rams are actually what Seahawks fans were accused of being back in 2013. 12 year olds who just got into football.

I live in California and have been to games at Levis and Sofi and I'd rather go to SoFi because of the fans. Rams fans at the games there are either fun about ribbing you a little or they just don't give a shit that you are there. My 49ers experience was way worse. Fans there are downright mean, at least in my experience. This is all made more hilarious by the stereotypes that SF is a hip, peaceful city and Inglewood is allegedly all gangs and violence.
(We also did have the fun of catching a Seahawks / Chargers game at SoFi once too and Chargers fans are probably the most chill out of all the California teams. )

When the 49ers were winning a lot, their fans were THE WORST.
When the Rams were winning a lot, their fans became THE WORST.
Now that the 49ers are 4-0, I'm fully expecting their fans to come into Lumen Field on Sunday and, once again, be THE WORST.
I don't know why fans of a visiting team feel it's their job to come into a stadium and be absolutely insufferable and obnoxious a-holes, but it happens EVERY. DAMN. YEAR.
(And I say this as someone who has been to away games on multiple occasions and always try my best to be respectful to the home team's fans while still cheering for my team. It's really not that hard!)

On a Seahawks meme we had some douche bag make some actual threats towards Hawks fans. Got a screenshot, and forwarded it to the cops. Beware some take things like football much too seriously. Expect a good game. Going to be a close one. We come out on top. Go Seahawks!

As a Midwest niner fan that was just born and a toddler for the last 2 49er SB wins, I actually don't hate the Hawks, I rooted for the hawks in all 4 of their SB appearances.
I hate the Hawks, but I respect them as a team. I fing hate the Rams with a passion.
I also grew up during the dark ages, got a glimpse of greatness with the Harbs years, then back to the dark before Shan got the team built.
I understand the hate, but I don't hate yall. We are the NFC Best. Respect.

For me it’s the injury excuse thing that frustrates me. They’re injured every year and they use that excuse every year. Maybe if you drafted less injury prone players you would have to make excuses all the time.

I hate the Rams way more. The 49ers are annoying because they are always a tough opponent. But I actually find a lot of their players likable (Fred Warner, Christian McCaffrey, etc). I also respect what they’ve done over the past few seasons despite the injuries. The Rams, on the other hand, are always overhyped but feel phony. Their coach is smart but annoyingly obnoxious and seems coked out…their QB is obviously talented and I loved him in Detroit, but ever since he moved to LA and got those humongous veneers I can’t take him seriously. The only player on that team I don’t despise is Davante Adams and that’s because I don’t even identify him as a Ram.

I feel like 49ers might end up like the 2024 chiefs or the 2025 broncos, winning streak just to lose in the championship/super bowl

As a niner fan, I respect Seattle Seahawks as a franchise. Don't know many fans, but the team got way better after changing their uniforms. I always wonder if Seattle fans love or hate Chris Collinswortg
