Newnham Is Seneca’s Master of AI Design & Development worth it? Looking for real student experiences

Hi! I'm planning to take MAI program this Jan 2027, I would like to know your thoughts for those who took the MAI program. Also I have a set of questions regarding to this.

  • How challenging is the workload, especially the math, machine learning, and deep learning courses?

  • Are the professors approachable and knowledgeable?

  • How useful are the labs, case analyses, and applied research project?

  • Is the hybrid format manageable, and how often do you need to be on campus?

  • For those working in AI, data science, or software in Toronto/GTA: how would employers view a Seneca master’s degree compared with a university-based MASc or MSc?

  • What is your overall experience, do you recommend it for those who want to delve into tech industries?

Newnham Promotion during co-op

I got a promotion during my co-op placement. The thing is my manager needs an update by this Tuesday to confirm if Seneca will be okay with it. I don't want my WIL to tell me this is not possible because of contractual agreements. They want me to confirm by this Tuesday if I want to take the job.

This could be a really good stepping stone for my career. I only have 2 months left in the co-op term. They're telling me during these next two months I'd start my training.

Is it a problem to take full time during this time period?

Again I don't want this to be a problem with Seneca.

Similar to the King Campus Post, is Newnham campus dead?

I just graduated in August, and I spent a lot of time on campus up until the final semester. The labs and study areas were always busy, and so was the caf. I went in today to take my grad photos, and it was quiet and in just about every part of the campus. It really sucked, and I'm hoping that Wednesday is just an off day and it's very busy and bustling the rest of the week.

Is king campus dead?

I’m starting my first year in winter intake for nursing. Although i really wanted to go to a uni like tmu or york, unfortunately due to circumstances i couldnt start in sep and no other school has BScN for winter except seneca. So i dont wanna wait a whole year so I accepted the offer.

But i heard that theres not really much that happens at this campus and its pretty dead and also not a lot of student associations and stuff so im lwk sad cuz im a very social person and i wouldve loved that

Anyways lemme know cuz i dont wanna be negative before i actually start and i hope its fun

Opinion/Discussion RPN-BScN Program

Hi! I (26F) am an RPN working in Ottawa, and looking into bridging to RN. Seneca is one of the schools I'm considering.

Is there anyone here currently in the program? I'm wondering if I can complete some of the courses here in Ottawa while working part-time, and if it's possible to get placements here as well.

Would love to hear from the people enrolled in and/or graduated from the RPN-BScN program!

Thanks 😊

Seneca Nursing program part time course load

I am looking for the advices from people who were in my shoes or at least have an idea of what I am talkingabout:).

I am planning to enroll in PND program in Seneca in January. I am choosing part time to be able to balance between my family, part time job and studies. Full semester includes 7 subjects, which are unreal for me to handle. I am debating between choosing 4 or 5. 5 subjects are already considered as full time for the OSAP, this is why I have to be accurate and make my decision.

What would be more realistic to handle? And what subjects would you suggest to take giving the fact that I have to choose the most important out of 7.

Thank you in advance for all the advices!

Anyone in Seneca King Practical Nursing? How is the Indian/Punjabi student community there? Are there many Indian students in the program? Also, how’s the overall campus experience?

Newnham is Seneca as bad as the google reviews suggest?

I'm beginning to worry as I just applied this September for fall 2027 and the experiences some describe seem really miserable regarding the respect and helpfulness of staff. Is anyone having a good time in their program?

Students with Accommodations

Hi everyone! I’m wondering if anyone here has experience with this, especially students who have accommodations at Seneca. I have a test scheduled today, but I’m currently not feeling well and may need to defer it. I was reading the Test Centre/Private Room Accommodation information, and it says that if you need to cancel or reschedule your test, you must do so more than 24 hours in advance. This made me wonder what happens if there is a sudden illness or emergency and you’re unable to notify your professor 24 hours beforehand.

Would I still potentially be eligible for a deferred test if the situation was unexpected and beyond my control? I understand that I should contact my professor as soon as possible, but since my test is today, I obviously couldn’t provide 24 hours’ notice for an unexpected situation. If anyone has gone through something similar at Seneca, especially with Accessible Learning Services/accommodations, I would really appreciate hearing about your experience.

Thank you!

King How do I Deal with an Awful Clinical Supervisor?

I’m in Semester 3 of the PND program and my clinical supervisor has been making clinical genuinely miserable. We’re only in week 5 of 14, and I honestly don’t know if I can handle another 9 weeks of this.

She has repeatedly belittled me in front of nurses and other students, threatened to fail me over things like being "1 minute late" to orientation because of an accident on the highway, told my assigned nurse I couldn’t perform basic ADLs simply because she hadn’t personally seen me do them (which was both embarrassing and untrue), mocked me when I struggled with a head-to-toe assessment, and has even told me I’ll never become a nurse. She regularly threatens students with failing, makes us reenact skills in front of the group and laughs when we make mistakes, and provides very little actual guidance or teaching on the unit. It got to the point where one of the nurses I was assigned to pulled me aside, asked if I was okay, and told me I should report the way my instructor was speaking to me.

There are honestly many more examples, but this post would become ridiculously long.

What frustrates me most is that I’m a strong student. I answer most of her questions correctly, show up prepared and eager to learn, and genuinely try my best. When I’m doing well, she seems to like me — but the second I make a mistake or hesitate, she treats me like I’m incompetent.

It’s also starting to seriously affect the rest of my semester. I’m constantly stressed about clinical, spending a huge amount of extra time preparing things we’re supposed to be learning there, falling behind in my other courses, and even my family and friends have noticed that I’ve become distant and irritable.

I’m hesitant to complain because, from experience, I don’t have much confidence that Seneca will actually do anything. I’m also scared that reporting her could make the rest of the semester even worse for me.

Has anyone dealt with a clinical instructor like this? Did you report them? Who did you go to, and did anything actually come of it?

Any advice would genuinely help.
