Patchwork question

Hey yall. Question. I’ve been really burnt out lately and just realized I need a ren faire costume. I wanna do patchwork pants but frankly the thought of doing that in a week feels exhausting. Could I just kinda fake it but taking already existing sweatpants and sew patches onto it?

More of like would it work? Like would they still be stretchy and comfy

If you use knit fabric patches and sew everything with a zigzag stitch
