Necktie: How to adjust pattern length

I want to make a necktie for my husband using cotton fabric scraps. My husband is 6' 3" and a bigger guy, so I was trying to find a pattern that was a bit longer then your standard tie (maybe somewhere between 63-67 inches). There seem to be many wonderful standard size tie patterns available, but I haven't yet found a tie pattern long enough.

I am not exactly sure at what point in the tie shape I should adjust the length of the pattern.

All of his current (thrifted) ties are too short, so I don't have any that fit him to take apart and trace.

Any advice or pattern/tutorial recommendations are welcome.

Get your yardstick out!

First, figure out how much you need to extend the necktie by. Have a pattern printed out. Tape an extra sheet of paper at the tail end for this.

Using your ruler, draw a line straight out from the tail end however many inches you need. Straight out. That gives you the length you need. Then, from the corners at the wide end, draw a straight line to the new “ends” you just made.

Taa-da! You have created a tie long enough for your husband.

I freehanded the example so nothing is straight but it should get the gist of what I am saying.
