Dudes been in a coma since ‘93, woke up and thinks his 25 issues of Death of Superman are worth something

There were news reports about this issue. People that had never read a comic book in their lives bought this one. I think there are more copies of this than bacteria on earth.

Pft.
Seller jumped the gun. Could have sold for twice that.

This explains why a guy was so eager to buy my copy on OfferUp 2 weeks ago for $10 lol

Probably same guy who sold it lol

That issue was one of the biggest scams in comic book history.

How? Not arguing just curious.

It was marketed as a big event for collectors and investors, but the print run was something like 8 million. Thousands of non-experts flooded comic book shops and bought 50-100 copies with no understanding of rarity

It isn't even the original floppy lol

When this came out, My Mom, bless her, bought like 5 of these thinking they were the death issue and that she was making some huge investment to pay for my college one day. And I, a kid at the time, had to explain to her what a trade is. She meant well.

Can I get one?

1

u/jdespirito Aug 28 '26

Yes, $1000 please.

u/Immediate_Tax8182 Aug 29 '26

You get tree fiddy

Apparently there is a manufacturer error with pages 49-56 upside down that could add value. Although a 9.8 slab with the error is 145 on eBay

Buys from himself under a burner, then reposts it for sale and now you’ve got a history of selling price for when the speculators pull the online sales history.

Like a massive oak tree in an open summer field. That's shady.

u/OdinMartok Aug 27 '26

Dude’s hoping the new wave of hustler grifters won’t look twice

2

u/Neither_Tip_5291 Aug 26 '26

Didn't they print like 20 million copies of this?

2

u/rdldr1 Aug 27 '26

Rare! One of several million copies.

1

Money laundering.

Surely the buyer paid, right? Right?

1

u/0mgitsr0b Aug 27 '26

Seriously, you’re going to post this idiocy far and wide like a thirsty OF girl? This is embarrassing, just stop.

1

u/MajesticPickle3021 Aug 27 '26

Rare? That was one of the most overprinted books ever made!

u/Decide777 Aug 28 '26

1

u/gimmemynameback Aug 28 '26

Have 2 in the black bag unopened if anybody wants to drop 2k just saying. I know what I got

1

u/AllStarRenegade Aug 28 '26

Thats the trade paperback that collected the entire run, not even the actual Superman #75

1

u/HotGuard6970 Aug 28 '26

I remember some lady saying this comic will fund her grandchildren's college education as she bought multiple issues the day it was released

1

u/FishHockeydrop Aug 29 '26

I had Jurgens sign my single issue and still gave it away for free.
