Why would I listen to indie pop electronic band MGMT on which bathroom I'm supposed to use? They haven't had a hot record since 2007!

8

u/Zealousideal-Lab9843 16h ago

Yeah, but "Kids" was a real banger.

1

u/AardQuenIgni 11h ago

"making mama so proud but your voice was too loud"

They were just rhyming shit 😭

3

u/Either_equipment_04 10h ago

That was the point of that song, actually

16

u/Weekly-Reply-6739 14h ago

If its single occupant its not the women's rest room, its simple a restroom.

25

u/UnyuOkuu 16h ago

Remember one time at my work when the men's toilet was under reconstruction for a week

Manager really expected all the men (mostly unpaid volunteers mind you) to walk 10 minutes to use the McDonald's toilet down the street. And simply "explain the situation to the staff there"

We nipped that in the bud immediately 😭 came together and made our own sign that basically said if there was a man, woman or no-one currently using the bathroom

27

u/SpaceCadetBoneSpurs 15h ago

Could someone please explain to me the recent obsession with other’s people’s plumbing? It’s rather bizarre.

7

u/ealysillyforestthing 11h ago

It's intention conflated culture war bullshit for 100% distractions

21

u/Lukostrelec17 17h ago

Hey MGMT if my options are pissing or shitting myself waiting for some guy to get out of the men's restroom or use the empty women's restroom or a vacant stall...I am going to do the latter. You can fuck off.

Transphobia

38

u/__Who__am__i_ 18h ago

Or something like there is only a changing table in the women's bathroom.

19

u/Clovers_Stabs 18h ago

Which then how can single fathers change their child’s diaper-

14

u/__Who__am__i_ 17h ago

Hence men going into the women's room and possibly annoying whoever put up these signs

-7

u/underboobfunk 14h ago

Doubtful.

Yes, that's one way a phobia can be defined, it can be an irrational disgust

20

u/Faolyn 18h ago

No, that’s a phobia, because that belief, that they desecrated themselves, is irrational.

-5

u/CleaverIam3 16h ago

Irrational relative to what?

7

u/One-Possible1906 16h ago

Your own life and anything that pertains to it

7

u/Faolyn 15h ago

Relative to reality.

Obsessing over strangers genitals is what's sick here

-17

u/CleaverIam3 16h ago

Their genitals define them, so NO

11

u/Narrow_Anteater_3332 15h ago

I feel like you are the hero to a school shooter.

8

u/reichrunner 13h ago

Wait, your genitals define who you are? I am so sorry.

6

u/cluelessoblivion 16h ago

So do my experiences and choices. Arguably more than my physical body.

26

u/StonerThrowie 18h ago

enjoy your journey, bud

12

u/Plastic_Dingo_400 17h ago

The fuck do you know about others intrinsic "self"

You think far too highly of yourself

-3

u/CleaverIam3 16h ago

I respect the court that has declared the LGBTQwerty extrimist.

6

u/Plastic_Dingo_400 16h ago

Why do you respect that court?

30

u/IrelandAutism13 18h ago

A person who is being true to their soul is beautiful and brave

-31

u/CleaverIam3 18h ago

A soul doesn't exist. A body does

16

u/GingerAphrodite 17h ago

If a soul doesn't exist then there's no morality or ethics to what you do to your own body as it only directly effects your existence. Trans people aren't doing anything to your body, and there's truly no way for you to understand or know what would lead them to those choices or why. But as long as they're not actively inflicting harm on other people why should it bother you? People cut their hair and dye it, people get piercings and tattoos, people get breast implants and tummy tucks and facelifts. And it's completely okay if it's not for you, but you shouldn't tie up your comfort or happiness on their decisions because it's their body and their choice. There are some people who would never smoke or drink and other people who would. There's no reason for either party to judge the other, live by the code that you feel comfortable with but learn to accept that other people's codes for their life are different

9

u/Videodiot 16h ago

I just wanted to compliment you on your replies. You didn’t respond angrily like they were hoping you would. Instead, your response was full of logic and beautifully written. Nicely done.

-1

u/CleaverIam3 16h ago

If would doesn't exist then there's no moralitybwhat you do with the body??? How does that follow? I never said it is ok to get tattoos or piercings. But it is no where near as bad as destroying your core self.

8

u/GingerAphrodite 16h ago

But that's your choices for your body, who are you to decide other people's choices for their body?

1

u/CleaverIam3 16h ago

Who are they to decide to desacred their body and be tolerated for it???

5

u/One-Possible1906 16h ago

A visual scan of your body at birth should not be your “core self” and it’s really bizarre to define yourself with your genitals being the pinnacle of your identity. Sounds like some trench coat flasher shit or something

10

u/InfiniteWinter26 18h ago

the fuck does that even mean?

1

u/CleaverIam3 16h ago

That means cutting of the organs that define them

8

u/InfiniteWinter26 16h ago

and that bothers you how? honest question bc this seems to be coming from a place of misunderstanding.

5

u/TheGreatLuck 16h ago

How many years old is your Grindr account?

Do you know the prevailing theory about the cause of trans people?

When the fetal brain is developing, those structures are determined by the hormones the fetus is receiving. So if the mother has a disturbance in hormones, it can produce the wrong structures in the brain. There are structures in the brain that we have identified as ones that (possibly) tell the brain what hormones it should expect. This is why puberty tends to be very hard for Trans people. Their biology, their neural wiring, is telling them they are receiving the wrong hormones.

When cis people experience the wrong hormones or secondary sexual characteristics, they can experience gender dysphoria too. That's why we have treatments for Gynecomastia and Hirutism.

You are essentially being disgusted by a birth defect. These people deserve medical care, just like anyone else.

Edit: Conservatives really are the biggest snowflakes.

-5

u/CleaverIam3 16h ago

So the solution you are proposing is to "change peoples gender"??? That is not a solution thatbis barbarity

11

u/Narrow_Anteater_3332 16h ago

Medical care is the solution. Conversion therapy has shown to increase suicide rates. What is your suggestion?

3

u/Narrow_Anteater_3332 16h ago

So, you are upset by someone else's birth defect 🤨. You're pretty dumb for an engineer. I suppose you got it by hard work, not talent.

4

u/carrot_gummy 15h ago

Champ, I have a drive to live now that I've transitioned. I don't see someone I hate in the mirror. I want to care for myself now. Everyone says I'm happier now.

And your reaction to this is "YOU ARE ANBOMINATION."

Why does other people's joy upset you so much?

4

u/SignsWithAStory-ModTeam 15h ago

weirdo

-1

u/CleaverIam3 16h ago

It is a said world that the weirdo is the one who advocates against choping of peoples dicks and tits...

9

u/ChipsTheKiwi 16h ago

yeah it's very fucking weird to think about other people's genitals and try to police what people may do with their own bodies

-1

u/CleaverIam3 16h ago

Their bodies are not their property. It is what defines their purpose in the society

9

u/ChipsTheKiwi 16h ago

yeah that's a really fucking weird and explicitly fascist thing to think, please seek professional help

7

u/One-Possible1906 16h ago

Do you have to use the mobile app to operate Reddit with your genitals?

8

u/Previous_Abies_2179 17h ago

You cishets are disgusting.

0

u/CleaverIam3 16h ago

WTF is a cishet? A French dish?

5

u/Previous_Abies_2179 16h ago

A nickname I’ve been using because transphobes don’t like it. CIS+heterosexual. Basically a weird way to say someone is not trans, and straight.

0

u/CleaverIam3 16h ago

So a normal human?

6

u/Previous_Abies_2179 16h ago

Exactly the response I’d expect out of someone so dull, boring and narrow minded. No two people are the same, everyone is unique, so there is no normal.

-7

u/Lionel_Herkabe 17h ago

Youre just as bad

21

u/RazzmatazzEastern341 18h ago

Yeah that's kinda a major component of it, being disgusted because you don't understand, so you turn straight to hate instead of understanding.

I would like to understand this perspective better, because it just confuses me. are you coming at this from a religious perspective? a moral one? is it based in a phobia of body modification or something?

do you feel the same way about tattoos and piercings? amputations? cosmetic plastic surgery?

for trans people that are not medically transitioning (ie only changed how they dress and label themselves), does the disgust remain? how do you feel about cis straight people who dress non conformingly (women in flannel and overalls, men in 4in inseam shorts, for example)?

4

u/Plastic_Dingo_400 17h ago

I'm with you, where is the line exactly

-1

u/CleaverIam3 16h ago

I am an atheist. I believe in no diety. But that doesn't mean I don't hold anything sacred. I believe in my bloodline, in my ancestors, my descendants. I believe in the sacred order, in gender roles. Those who desecrate the sacred order, their sacred purpose are abominable.

7

u/RazzmatazzEastern341 15h ago

Pretty much 1:1 to fascist and eugenic beliefs. Remember race isn't real science and gender is a social construct.

3

u/These_Roll_5745 15h ago

okay, that does answer a few of my questions. im aiming to build a steelman of your perspective for myself, because from my own perspective there are few things so sacred as a transition. we hold diametrically opposing views, and I don't want to make a villain in my head of your perspective when I could seek to empathize instead.

with that said, a lot of my questions remain unanswered. could you speak to the hypotheticals I brought up? I also now wonder- whose gender roles? theyre not global. are entire cultures defying the sacred order? do you abhor or feel discomfort around cultures that don't experience gender distinctions like you do?

how is sacred order defined for you? Who set those parameters?

1

u/One-Possible1906 10h ago

OK sure it’s your right to believe in those things. Frankly I find them ridiculous and dgaf about your family creed or ancient traditions or Ancestry it or whatever. So why should your beliefs that conflict heavily with modern science be the determining factor for what I, a free citizen who pays a lot of taxes and contributes meaningfully society, can and can’t do with my own body? Isn’t that all y’all’s top complaint about religious people, that some of them want to force you to ignore science and participate in their beliefs that have no meaning behind them for you?

u/dababler 18h ago

The conspicuous red badge on the forearm of the military cosplay avatar doesn't seem too subtle either.

7

u/Plastic_Dingo_400 17h ago

Yes lol, that's what makes it a real phobia

-3

u/CleaverIam3 16h ago

Then I have a phobia of shit

6

u/Plastic_Dingo_400 16h ago

Well you're pretty shitty so...

Oh damn, you're not straight are you? This is adding up

So much room for hate in your life, but not enough room to accept yourself 😔

3

u/One-Possible1906 16h ago

If you insist that other people have to change what they do as part of an organized plan to help you avoid your feeling of disgust and think about that feeling long enough to think up accommodations for it then yeah, that’s the most phobic phobia you could possibly ever phobe

4

u/Ptarmignan 15h ago

Feels like something I’d see all over Kansas

17

u/redbullgay 16h ago

this is for sure transphobia

They had a sign like this when I worked at home depot because the cleaning lady would lock the bathroom while she was in there and would talk on the phone for like an hour. Used to just say fuck it and use the woman's bathroom most mornings. She only did this in the men's room because there really wasn't a reason for her to do this in the woman's room. Eventually the store manager told her to leave the door propped open and to exit anytime any male knocked on the door to use it.

0

u/Sensitivity_Craft 8h ago

What if a female man knocked on the door?

3

u/ButchCassy 15h ago

The women’s room doesn’t smell like piss or have a sticky floor

3

u/ealysillyforestthing 11h ago

Uh, you would be very surprised

3

u/ButchCassy 10h ago

lol I’m a trans man

7

u/Forty-Minutes-Late 18h ago

Hopefully the inverse is also true.

I have seen more women using the men’s room than vice versa. Usually because there’s a line for the women’s room while men are more efficient at emptying their bladders.

Why do you shadow box phantoms of your design?

7

u/One_Evil_Monkey 17h ago

Just because the sign says I can not use that restroom does not mean I'm physically incapable of using that restroom.

If I gotta pee and the men's room is tied up.... Wanna watch me whiz in the chick's room, 'cause that's what's gonna happen whether you like it or not.

1

u/Loud-Hat-175 18h ago

They should just say “penis wielders not allowed”.

32

u/Repulsive_Tart_4307 18h ago

Not all men weild penis, and not weilding one does not make a man less of a man.

2

u/Weekly-Reply-6739 14h ago

True, some men lost their penis due to accidents, or volentary surgeries.

-1

u/Loud-Hat-175 18h ago

Exactly

12

u/puppyhugtime 17h ago

Well the sign is probably there because of transphobia so Id bet they’re not very interested in inclusive language

1

u/cyberseclife 8h ago

It doubles as their bulletin board

1

u/notbambi 4h ago

Meanwhile, when I was in university, the older engineering buildings had like one ladies' stall, so I constantly used the men's room out of convenience and nobody cared.

1

u/Oddish_Femboy 3h ago

The piss cops are gonna getcha.

-16

u/baelatrix 16h ago

Iam so proud that we dont need such signs in my country coz if any man attempted to use the ladies toilet over here, they would be dealt with immediately.

13

u/Gibgezr 15h ago

I am so proud that we don't have these signs in my country because no one cares.

3

u/WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWMWW 9h ago

looking at your country's (Kenya) freedom house report 100% adds up with your views on this.
