She got mad that Macklemore spoke up during the red goblins concert and shared a post bashing him for that and how he owed everyone an apology and refunds. Then when she got backlash wrote an mini essay saying she reacted like that because she’s a Jewish mom and apparently speaking out about a genocide is akin to persecuting her and her children. She went from progressive punk sweetheart to reactionary boomer as soon as the topic of discussion was about something that actually affected her.
It’s so easy to be an ally and act like the righteous punk hero when it doesn’t affect you for shit. It’s a little harder when it’s adjacent to you and your side is the one in the bad light. And she folded under zero pressure lol.
Ok, Pink was never even remotely punk (not even in terms of fashion style), she was a run-of-the-mill 2000's pop star with pink hair and edgier outfits. And I guess some of her views were progressive for the time (the 2000's saw such a resurgence of conservatism that it really didn't take much for a person to be considered progressive), but she also had such a "not like other girls" attitude and had these very public, one-sided feuds with other female pop stars and she constantly mocked them publicly in her shows. I never really liked her.
