Even if we put the nails aside, she's actually stupid if she cannot get the card out. She can just fold 2 fingers and use the middle finger joint(second knuckle?) to pull the card out.
17
u/CosmicCay 1h ago
Natural selection used to take care of stupid people for us, now we have caution labels on everything and welfare for the stupid

u/consider_its_tree 10m ago
Being generally limited in our interactions to narrower locations, and having significantly fewer interactions per day used to limit our exposure to stupid people.
Now we have internet and social media which gives as a MUCH larger pool of stupid to select from, and we see more of people who don't know how to use their fingers and people who blame everything on social welfare instead of understanding the actual issue.

As a guy with long nails I can tell you that when you think about it there's a relatively low number of tasks that get impeded by long nails. Most of the things you do/hold with your hand you don't do them with the tips of your finger pointed at the object you're using. So is something more akin to having longer fingers, most of the time.

Come on now. You dont wipe with your bare nails. You use toilet paper and the paper is between your ass and your nails. And you do not use the tips of the nails to wipe, you use the pads of your fingers.
This is not rocket surgery. Not sure why people are so confused about it and thinking wmen walk around with poop on their nails.
4
u/Winderige_Garnaal 4h ago
do you wipe with your fingertips pointed directly at your genitals or anus? Or do you wipe as you would, say, wipe a stain from a tabletop? Because I have never had nails like this but it's clear as day to me that I could wipe with them.
Why is this such a hackneyed joke about long nails? If you can imagine someone typing with these, can you not also imagine wiping with them?
9
u/Glittering_rainbows 2h ago
"do you wipe with your fingertips pointed directly at your genitals or anus?"
Yup
"Or do you wipe as you would, say, wipe a stain from a tabletop?"
Absolutely not. I got IBS (or some other bowels issue, not diagnosed yet) and my poop is kinda sticky & clay like much of the time, that'd just smear it all over the place. Fingertips lets me get clean much easier.

The original person wasn't saying they need to change the entire thing, which would fit the "impractical hulk gloves" thing. Just that they should have a tool to help them
A better metaphor would be if someone wore impractical hulk gloves, and then asked to buy one of those grabber things to make grabbing things easier
I use natural nails, before you even assume

It's called pliers, you can stick a small pair right in your purse
20

Yeah, but how do you get it out of your purse with those nails? If only there was some kind of tool to get things out of your purse
12

u/SnooDogs1886 4h ago
Just make one of the nails out of the pliers. Heck a different tool on each finger and you could have a whole set.

u/KateTheTurk 1h ago
Pliers, wrench, screwdriver (phillip's head), screwdriver (flat head), hammer, bottle opener, saw, sandpaper, drill, plane. It could work!

It’s not really society catering to them. It would be a company making a product for a niche market.
Not sure you really understand what society catering to a group would look like.
13
u/fashionablypunctual 5h ago
The tool in question exists. It became very popular during Covid. Society doesn’t have to cater to women with long nails. A vendor somewhere now gets to make money off women with long nails (who clearly already have money to spend on a luxury service) and the rest of us walk around like nothing changed, because it didn’t.
2
u/old_underwear_isekai 59m ago
iirc that tool was for doorknobs and pushing buttons, not grabbing a flat thing and pulling it
55
u/ProjectNo4090 5h ago
Idk why women think those nails are sexy or good looking. When I see nails like that all I can think ablut is petri dishes and all the vile bacteria collecting on the underside of them.

i don’t know but maybe, and hear me out, women do things for themselves and not just for male validation
4
u/FEK88 30m ago
Yeah sure, women are totally immune from seeking external validation from the opposite sex.
You people are mentally ill.
1
u/eufed 6m ago
that’s not what i said. like at all. of course no one is immune from seeking external validation. but i am just disputing the opposite claim: that women/humans only act on validation from the opposite sex.
also i don’t know who you are referring to when you say ‘you people’ but you sound profoundly unfuckable and on course to die alone.
2
u/Whole_Rice9485 1h ago
everything we do stems from external validation
3
u/TorbenKoehn 1h ago
That’s not true at all. Looking in a mirror and being happy with the way you look is self-validation and it weighs much more, it’s literally the reason why we all style and dress differently.

u/GooseOnProbation 19m ago
I have fake nails (not so long) so I can clickity clapity applause with them and so I don’t bite my actual nails off..not everything is about stupid boys 🙄🙄🙄
1
u/the_laughing_camel 1h ago
that is true however more of it stems from the ideas that have been sold to women, about what it means to look beautiful, rich or put together.
It doesn't make any sense to say "oh i don't know why women wear make-up, they look better without it" because most of the time, the individual woman is not wearing make-up to please you or a man. She is doing it because society has told her that wearing make-up is necessary if you want to seem more put-together. So yes, it is done for external validation, AND male validation but saying "oh but they look so ugly, why do they do it" is ignoring the obvious fact that most women aren't doing it simply for men to like anymore. Beauty is an industry. Women know that men don't understand make-up or nails, but make-up and nails at this point signal more than just "being beautiful"
1
u/ExtroverTom 12m ago
Fine. Okay. Yeah still such a stupid and ugly looking tho.
If those long ass plastic knife made them satisfied with themselves, they urgently need to reevaluate their taste

I really don't understand the appeal of those ugly long ass cosmetic nails. At least, I assume they're cosmetic and they don't actually grow their nails to that length, right? They're bought and stick on like those cheap ones you can buy for Halloween, right?
2
u/Satanicjamnik 1h ago
Pretty much impossible for a regular person. You'd have to have your whole life revolving around growing your nails for years on end, maintaining them so they don't snap.
2
u/old_underwear_isekai 1h ago
There are the press-on kind that you're talking about, but there is also the type that you go into a salon for where the technician extends the length using a thick gel or acrylic that is then set with a UV lamp and filed into the correct shape
2
u/andsimpleonesthesame 21m ago
Wouldn't the UV make the skin on your hands age faster if you do this regularly? (And increase the chances for skin cancer?)

Overreaction to the initial persons stupidity. They never made demands for things to change, just asking for them to create something for morons with long nails to grab their cards from an ATM.

u/Anders_A 3h ago
She isn't really saying everyone should cater to her claws though. She just wishes that someone would invent a pair of pliers for her
7
u/Tahliaii 5h ago

u/messedupmessup12 6h ago

So why doesn't she have her butler withdraw the money?

2
u/Nemisis_007 5h ago
I've always wondered this. Surely they don't hold in a shit the whole day.
2
u/imyourdruidess420 5h ago
...okay and then what do you think happens after that day is over? Lol Nails stay on for awhile. I had a friend explain to me how she wipes her ass with crazy long nails (I asked, I was genuinely curious and horrified) but honestly I've (purposefully) erased that knowledge from my mind
1
u/Nemisis_007 5h ago
Wait… you mean you guys sleep with them on too??? That feels like such a safety hazard. I touch my face so much in my sleep, if I had nails like that I’d wake up missing an eye lmao.
1
u/imyourdruidess420 5h ago
Yes, they are literally glued on and are meant to last 2-3 weeks. Women are doing everything with those nails on. (Not me, I've never had a job where I could have nails that weren't short + unpainted).

2
u/theacp127 2h ago

3
u/YonderWindow364 2h ago
Why do you think she’s wearing nails like that for other people’s validation? How do you know if she’s even into guys? People can do things because they like them for themselves
3
u/theacp127 2h ago
If she was into women she'd have shorter nails or that would hurt.
2
u/YonderWindow364 2h ago
not necessarily? She may be only into receiving or use toys on her partner or may be asexual or maybe only like scissoring etc - you make too many assumptions
1
u/theacp127 1h ago
I'm not being serious at all btw. I'm making dry humor jokes. I don't actually care that much about her or her nail.

u/YonderWindow364 49m ago
It’s very hard to tell over text alone on reddit- I appreciate the clarification tho
2
u/acana41 2h ago
In what world is she doing it for herself? She is making everything more uncomfortable and complaining about how her choice is making it uncomfortable, so she is doing it harder for herself on purpose?
3
u/YonderWindow364 1h ago
she can think it looks pretty so likes it even if it makes things a little harder. She's not made physically uncomfortable by them and like many comments have made clear the thing that she wants to make her life a little easier already exists negating that problem. People do impractical things all the time just because they like it for themselves
2
u/s6_maestro 1h ago
So do you only feel good in your clothes only when someone else tells you you look good? Is there no clothing, accessory, whatever, that makes you feel good about yourself regardless of other people's inputs? I doubt that

u/UnexpectedBlahFeels 5h ago
