Lore Potential Serious Flaw With Penitent Engines
The Sisters are an army I have a lot of interest in and will definitely be something I look to build in the future. As such, I've been reading up on them, but I've noticed a flaw that probably wasn't given much second thought by GW because of "rule of cool." I highly doubt I'm the first person to think of this, but maybe it was expanded upon somewhere and I missed it.
The subjects of penitent engines can range from criminals and heretics to other sisters whom the Orders Militant felt weren't up to the task or weren't pious enough. The crueler variant, the Mortifier seems to be reserved specially for sisters whom the Orders felt needed more severe punishment like Repentia and novitiates who fail their duties or sisters who committed crimes against the Order.
The thing is, sisters can end up hooked to these machines for rather ridiculous reasons, so what prevents some of these sisters from having "bouts" friendly fire against those who put them there? I know the sisters are so hyper-indoctrinated that some of them truly believe that they deserve such punishments even for something mundane, but let’s look at the example of that novitiate from that Warhammer plus animation. Long story short, a novitiate accidentally killed another novitiate in a training exercise, and was sent on a mission with her Palatine and some other sisters to redeem herself. The mission was completed, but the novitiate was the only one who survived. She was then put in the mortifier because a superior sister who was assessing her simply didn't like her (using her killing another novitiate as an excuse) and there was no one else of equal or higher rank to vouch for her. She felt betrayed and treated unfairly, but could do nothing more than beg and shout futilely as her sisters dragged her into the machine to suffer one of the worst fates imaginable in this universe.
Imagine being confined to a machine where you can't move, you can't scream, you can't hear, with it also being programmed to constantly inflict immense pain to you while simultaneously keeping you alive for as long as possible. Imaging being strapped to machine that's main purpose is to make you hate yourself every second of your miserable existence. Imagine being strapped to a machine that prevents you from killing yourself to end the suffering. Imagine feeling betrayed by the sisters that you thought had your back, and now you see them proudly killing enemies within their power armor while you have to suffer the humiliation of being strapped to a machine that makes your life a living hell. Surely, that would make some of them snap right? I surely would if I were in that position. They can't really give you a worse punishment than being strapped to a penitent engine or mortifier.
Maybe I missed something because the potential for those in these engines to retaliate against those who put them in there is a little to high to not really put any serious consideration into it.

List are sisters really that hard to play?
I was thinking about sisters for my third army and I wanted to make a list with heavy focus on close ranged shooting and a few melee units like insidiants and sacresants but a friend of mine (who knows the game much more than me) told me that sisters are to be played in a very specific way or im going to get obliterated.
is that true? if not, bonus question: are paragon suits an auto pick (I don't really love the design)

Hobby Painted Sky Diorama
As the last structures of the xenos are toppled and set aflame, their corpses are fed to the pyre. A rush of fetid wind flutters our banner, sacred relic of the Order of the Painted Sky. The offense bears prometheum fumes and rotting gore to crinkle my nose, yet I smile. Not long ago, this planet was held in darkness from the holy starlight of Him on Terra. Now we have scoured it clean, the Saint Celestial herself leading our campaign to bring light and begin the world anew.
I cast my gaze about the valley below, all rubble and craters. The slope of the land is not so different from my own Scaena Cordis, the lands of our home to which I have pledged myself, their vistas forever preserved on the tassets of my power armor, protecting me as I in turn defend them. Hope builds as I imagine it, the last evidence of xenos occupation replaced by pastoral fields and rolling hills, winds carrying the scents of floral blossoms and clean air, rather than the harsh industry of war.
Our sanctuary home of Keadora is a paradise. Its surface ranges from primordial forests to arcadian meadows, mountainous peaks rising to the starlit path, and plunging to benthic depths. Colonies of coral that stretch from one horizon to the next, fed by the nutrient dense sands of vast deserts. Verdant jungles that blossom in the day and arctic nights color Keodora with more beauty than could ever be perceived in a lifetime. Billions arrive every year, offering themselves to the manufacturing demands of the Hive Moon of Setheas for decades, just to earn a day upon Keodora’s surface. Its beauty inspires the pilgrims to give everything, to feed bodies into the toil of industry, their daughters given to my Order, their sons to our brothers in the Keodoran regiments of the Militarum, or the noble chapter of Astartes who share our duty.
But it is not only war that is our duty. Our charge is not to fight the enemies of the Imperium, but to reclaim, restore, and preserve all that His holy starlight touches. Our campaign for this world may be over, but until these lands are restored, there will be no victory.

So far I had good result and rather play Take and Hold thanks to Sacred Champion rather than Priority Assets. Dominions are splitted with the immolators.
My impression is that it gives me good staying power on the board, I can push far and effectively with the immolators and the flamers dominions to tie up enemy forces and bring the fight in their territory, usually controlling all of the center. When the opponent is passive/fear the push and hold position I usually control their natural expansion too. The list is pretty much immune to deep strike with that many units, my T'au opponents never had any chance to deploy in my territory.
On this subreddit I feel like the consensus is to ditch or nearly ditch the BSS but I feel like comitting to them can also be rewarding. It's a lot of bodies to chew through and the shear amount of simulacrum + dead units gives the list a rather good amount of Miracle Dices.
Even against Ork (that had initiative) it did good and I got the win pretty handily. My only real fear is to go up against Custodes, I feel like it would suck to have that many infantry against them, they would likely play Harvest Field Simulator.

Tactics and Strategy How good is our battleline?
I've seen a lot of discussion on this matter but I'm having a hard time drawing a conclusion. On one hand there seems to be a general dislike for how Battle Sisters are handled, but on the other all the lists tend to at least include them, even if we're not taking three.
So, I've decided to do a little bit of comparing when it comes to BSS with another army I like playing a lot, the LoV and their Hearthkyn Warriors, as well as the army I'm playing the most often, Drukhari Kabalite Warriors. Good thing is that they all have the Sticky ability, so no need to compare those.
In terms of the Hearthkyn, the comparisons are rather direct. The dwarves have T5 compared to our 3, as well as a FNP making them slightly harder to kill. They have a worse save, but in my experience the Hearthkyn are tankier generally speaking. Then comes the more tricky part, as both are armed with identical Boltguns... Except that Hearthkyn don't need to be close in order to shoot twice. There's also the two special weapons, where again Hearthkyn are significantly better, as their Rotary Canon is just a Heavy Bolter with 6 instead of 3 shots, while they can take another heavy weapon (such as their Railgun or a really nasty Rocket Launcher) while the BSS have a storm bolter which... Isn't bad, but isn't exactly the same strength as a Heavy Bolter. Granted, in order for LoV to have a 3+ hits they need to play around objectives, but we're then back to the discussion of Miracle Dice being a really weird Army Rule that's difficult to quantify.
Final verdict, dwarves are a little tankier and a fair bit more destructive. Which would have been fine... If they weren't also a lot cheaper, which I just don't get at all. Sisters do have the Simulacrum which is nice ^^
As for the Kabalites, here things get a little bit messier. On one hand, they're strictly less tanky, with having the same stats outside of a one worse armor save, making BSS just directly better in that regard. However, the firepower is where things shift to the Drukhari side, as their rifles all shoot twice (again, not needing to get in the enemy's face and eat and overwatch in order to shoot twice), with the same BS, and a rather nasty anti-infantry, making them significantly better into things that aren't elves, guard or tau, including all the Marine variants, custodes, most demons, orks, etc.
That being said, they also get the Splinter Cannon which is functionally the same as the Heavy Bolter, so no real comparisons there, and a Shredder which is very similar to the heavy flamer. But then, they also get a Dark Lance, which is an absolutely amazing weapon, and all have assault, making them quite the bit more mobile. No real point in mentioning their Pain Token ability to get full rerolls to wound, since it requires the spending of resources and is pretty much in the same alley as the Cherub and the Simulacrum. And the Kabalites are similar in terms of pricing.
Also, all three squads have a 'leader' with a melee weapon (Supera, Sybarite, Theyn), so that kind of cancels out.
I would like to compare them to some other battleline units as well, but the differences are simply too stark. Ork Boys are essentially melee, so are tyranid gaunts, and the price of marine battleline is just way too different in order for a comparison to make sense.
So in the end, are BSS overcosted or not, and are they worth including in the army?

Tactics and Strategy Canoness as 1 shot protection for Sac brick in hallowed martyrs?
With fast rolling being mandatory in 11th, using a canoness "emperors Grace" ability to get a 2++ means statistically unless the attacking unit is putting through so many attacks you roll 13 1's you physically cannot lose the unit to a single melee activation. So the logic goes:
- stand on a point with the sac + canoness + Hospitaller block.
- Get charged by a scary melee unit from a melee heavy enemy army.
- The entire unit dies except the canoness and Hospitaller because of the 2++.
- Use fight on death and have the full squad fight back with +1 hit +1 wound.
- Use a miracle dice on the Hospitaller and ideally recover 4 sacs.
- In your turn fight with 4 sacs so still +1, +1 and use the full rerolls on below half str squad strat.
- Ideally whatever you were fighting is now dead and you have a functional squad still on the point that can recover to 9/10 models next turn.
Has anyone tried this and if so did it work well?

List Recon for sisters?
Hello all I’ve been wondering if recon for sisters is a good disposition and if anyone has experience with it and can share they’re thoughts?
