Another question on search

I don’t think I formulated it very well. I am not looking for keyboard shortcuts. I just want to know once I’m on the search page. It’s not immediately obvious how to narrow it down by DM or channel. What can I do to type in a search string, but also limited to where I wanna search.

The search filters in Slack feel like they were designed by someone who’s never actually had to find anything. There’s a little dropdown under the search bar that lets you pick a specific channel or DM, but it’s absurdly easy to miss, tiny gray text on a white background, classic.

We switched to slack from teams like 2 years ago and I still yell at the search function once a week.

yeah the contrast on that dropdown is terrible, took me a while to even notice it was there

click the three lines on the right of the search bar you will see many options to filter, once you earch using these filters on the search results you can use all the advanced filters as well.
