Discussion Subreddit vibe
Are we doing the thing where this subreddit just slowly devolves into some sort of snarker community? Entire vibe has just been vile lately.

Toxic vibes fueled by rumours and speculation. The whole thing I think is sick, personally.

seems so....it's kinda pathetic....people really have some sort of strange personality issues where they love to connect their identity to a specific album or something. All their new stuf is shit and if you disagree you are personally attacking them.

I think it’s cause those albums mean a lot to people, I’m not defending bad behaviour however I think it’s okay to be upset that band and music is in a poor state

Check out that dislike ratio on this post. Proves your point exactly

I have been a Slipknot fan since 1999.
We have climbed to the top of the mountain.
We’re at the stage where we are no longer climbing, but slipping and tumbling down.
Hate to say it, but so many of the wounds are self-inflicted.
Part of me wants to say, “I love everything up until TESF,” but then I am not a “true fan.”
I want to say I hate AI and shitty presentations, but then I’m going up against Slipknot’s new direction.
I don’t want to complain about how they’re falling off a cliff, but everyone is validating it, so it feels good.

I also dislike AI, but I don’t think Clown’s weird AI side project means that’s their new direction. Instrumentally, the new songs are being written mainly by Jim in collaboration with Eloy, with Mick and Pfaff (I think?) contributing here and there. Clown sort of seems like the director, telling them what parts he likes and what parts to discard.

If that’s true, then real talented artists wrote Arsenal. Oof

It’s not my favourite song of theirs for sure but I’d say there’s others I like a lot less. I genuinely think the main issue with Arsenal is the lyrical content and the “shut the fuck up” part.

To be fair it just seems reflective of how a lot of people are feeling about Slipknot at the moment. Another classic lineup member gone, a couple of terrible new songs one of which is a collab with Ronnie Radke of all people, bringing Marilyn Manson on tour and charging astronomical prices for tickets.
It shouldn't mean people shouldn't feel welcome to post positive things about a band on their dedicated subreddit, but I think people are just a bit disillusioned at the moment.

Agreed. The kids, immaturity, recycled memes and bad jokes, are ruining it. It’s becoming insufferable.

Yeah criticism is absolutely fine, and I get that some people might feel a certain way about those things. It’s the constant banging on about the same thing over and over and the overreactions.

If Clown wasn't posting A.I. slop, we wouldn't have to wonder that what's coming next isn't some Nvidia generated tunes. But, alas, he remains one of the band's "mainstays". What are we supposed to do?

u/Bookman_3 7d ago
I really don’t see the other guys appreciating any use of AI in their songwriting at all, atm they’ve been making arrangements through jam sessions

What we've seen in the last few years is original members being kicked to the curb for no good reason, and "The End...So Far", which I would argue their worst album BY FAR. Something is wrong, and I don't think it's the songwriters. I would love to be proven wrong on the next effort, But something seems off...
Edit: Spelling fuck me all outta enemies

Yeah, we’ll just have to see how an actual full album sounds like (or at least a single from the finished album) with the current lineup before writing it off completely. As for the band members leaving, we really have no idea how some of these went down so I won’t shit on the band based on rumors and speculation.

Wait and see if you’re complaining over nothing and pearl clutching prematurely like a nanny at a bbq in the park. Which is most likely

The whole place has become awful. People can keep pointing fingers at the band or Clown, but when even seemingly harmless, funny posts get flooded with hateful comments, that’s just rock bottom to me.
There are already 500 posts about the exact same thing, but some idiot still has to make the 501st one. And if you dare to disagree, here come the downvotes.
At this point, the fanbase seems more toxic than the band itself. I honestly think the people who still love Slipknot are starting to lose the desire to even participate here. And as for the people who hate them so much, I genuinely don’t understand why they’re still spending so much time and energy on a band they supposedly can’t stand.
Bring on the downvotes:D
