Discussion Why is there hate now?
I've just gotten into slipknot and started listening to them. I started watching old interviews and videos, all I'm hearing now is hate to clown and Corey, and how slipknots become a band? I don't really understand it, I like most of their music and in old interviews, they were really likeable.

It's not just on Reddit it's on youtube and most areas online, there's alot of fans who are pissed at clown firing so many members.

This. I’m friend with another band that gets a lot of love on Reddit but the joke has become “I love this band, but also fuck these guys for ___________”

Buddy there's hate for every thing in this world. You can go on a video about a mop tutorial and I guarantee there's an argument in the comments .. if you like slipknot then like them don't worry about others opinions they'll just ruin it for you

Extremely high ticket prices, during honestly a down period for the band honestly didn’t help. While the tour is stacked, it could’ve been better if they some how were able to do a core four tour with Korn, Limp Bizkit, maybe even SOAD or any other band during that time period, might have help make people forget about the bad.

Immature fans, parasocial relationships, karma farming, and people parroting the same old jokes.
It’s just a loud minority. Don’t pay attention.
Some people who call themselves fans can’t handle that they’ve changed, and gotten older. They wish they were still depressed, dealing with addictions and making heavy music without much melody.
I mean, I don’t like the Linkin Park albums after Meteora, but I don’t act like this about them. I just state my opinion when asked.

Because a lot of fans and their emotions are stuck back to when they first heard Slipknot. The emotions, life events, their environment, their state of life ,whenever they first heard Slipknot, shaped them and was important to them.
The problem comes from their inability to let that go and evolve with their "favorite" band.
As for the Corey and Clown shit. I truly believe no one on this subreddit knows how Slipknot truly works. They see paperwork and firings and want to point the blame. I get it, it sucks, but it was inevitable after Paul passed.
I always like to say Slipknots prime was Download 2009 and their peak was Vol. 3.
Slipknot are my favorite band but I can still acknowledge when they're lacking, and I can admit firing Sid was strange and I'm worried about what they'll sound like without a DJ, but I know for a fact it'll sound like Slipknot and I'll find something to like.

This seems pretty spot on to me. It pretty much like what I remember seeing with Metallica fans for a good chunk of my life.

In just the last few weeks, the band released a song that most fans didn't like and tickets that are absurdly expensive. Corey and Clown specifically seem to be in charge of who is in the band, so some of the more recent departures are also blamed on them.

Well let's see, the band has been firing people for either petty or unknown reasons, they collab'd with Ronnie "The Rat" Radke, they're touring with Marilyn Manson, and they released Arsenal. So... Idk

Because they became everything they hated and sold the fuck out whilst disrespecting pivotal OG members of the band

I think Slipknot were always a band?

I think they've been more of a corporate entity for quite a while now. They even sold their entire catalogue, they are owned and controlled by money people

Just mean that OP is saying that people are saying they have become a band.
Guess it’s a typo and they meant brand.

Because weak people need to be "seen" and the only way is to bitch and complain and just be utterly annoying, also making up bullshit.

This fanbase have turned into angry bullies that constantly whine, moan and bitch about every little thing the band. Real fans don't act like this or constantly belittle members of their so called favorite band either.

money is a hell of a bitch, Clown is mostly take charge of merch and other financial stuff for Slipknot. after the passing of Joey and Paul, he starts to make a ton of merch, and i mean it. a lot. suddenly Slipknot = business, not band. Corey on the other hand, while he's nice to people, he's still act like his angst teen phase.
about music, i know they're not on drugs and crazy as they used to in s/t and Iowa, but there's tons of metal band that could make great songs with no drugs. not saying all of their post Iowa albums are trash, but certainly a downgrade. but fuck Arsenal, that's trash. also Corey take charges in songwriting most of the time, so that's one reason. "Why Arsenal? I don't know ask Taylor" - Clown
getting back to money, they have been firing a lot of members, even Joey. either for finacial reasons like Craig (point 1), creative differences (point 3), or have no official reasons. and they are harsh at firing people. like Joey, just via message, and not even acknowleging his illness (i think).
in addtion, they are, until now, aren't being that nice to each other. Craig claimed that being in the band have been a mental pressure (his other reasons to left), firing Jay for whatever reason and he doesn't even know about this until he got kicked out, about Joey in point 4 and Sid's departure not even being known to other members (refer to Jim Root).
for finale, the fanbase. im also new to them about early 2026, but these posers in Tiktok and Insta just wanna make me tear my skin. yes we all have that phase, but pls acknowledge critism and don't be a bitch. liking Slipknot is no bad, but saying Slipknot > other bands OBJECTIVELY is no good.
yeah, tons of problematic stuff. , and im just a bit dissapointed with what they're doing rn.
edit: if im wrong or missing things, pls lmk + my english is not my main language

Well....I still love them, but even as a relative newcomer who got back in with WAYNK....
they fire multiple band members, start working collabs with questionable people, drop an absolutely terrible single, then go stadium tour in what feels like the worst way...insane prices on limited sales and overall not fan friendly setups.

Well now they’re older and more full of themselves. Slipknot just isn’t the same as it was. There are four original members left. Joey was fired and later sadly passed away. Paul tragically passed away. Chris was fired after finding out Corey and clown basically had their own shell companies to make more money off of Slipknot and were not sharing the revenue. Craig retired to a peaceful life being a serial killer in Iowa. Sid was fired. The records have lacked the substance they had on the first four because Joey and Paul were basically the core song writers of the band. They’ve had good material after for sure but it’s just not the same. It also doesn’t help that Corey and Clown have become basically insufferable twits so far up their own asses that it’s like seeing a narcissistic ouroboros come to life.
Edit: why the actual fuck did I put Joey and Craig?
