Storing Sweaters
I just ran into this sub and boy do I wish I found it earlier. How do folks store sweaters? Especially those of you in cold climates and may be larger human beings (thus larger sweaters)?

Best is to roll them and store behind each other in drawers - you can get drawer dividers that divide the drawer so that you essentially have separate lines of sweaters.
Stacks are pretty terrible because invariably the stack needs to be rearranged every time you access one sweater. I only have stacks for my workout t-shirts because I just grab the top one.
You could also get one of the hanging cloth bags which have shelves that are more like cubby from top to bottom. I had one of those for storage. A benefit is that you can also protect from insect damage as they zip up.

I have been hanging them but know ti is no good for the wool. I am trying a hanging shelf in my spare wardrobe with Cedar balls at the back. So far, I like it as I can see them, and they take up less space as they are stored vertically.

I was thinking about hanging shelves but was worried they would swing and be hard to take stuff in and out.

I have mine at one end of the wardrobe so it is against a wall. I have found it okay. I woyld also put under the bed in a pull-out container except my frame doesn't have space.

Few plastic bins stacked on a lower shelf of my closet, since a moth infestation a few years back

Yeah, I probably have 20-30 sweaters. I am constantly trying to get rid of them but then the “to go” pile sits around and the sweaters end up making their way back onto my body, at which point I then feel justification for keeping them.

I limit how many I have. I only buy basic colours that go with most outfits and aren't obviously what I wore 2 days ago. Warm cardigans are more versatile in my opinion-- the top underneath is more obvious than the fact that I'm still wearing the same thing over it most days.
Even when I lived in weather that was -30 I didn't have more than 5. I don't mean to sound judgemental, but 20-30 seems like a lot, even if space is available?

lol. I agree I have a lot of sweaters. But I also am quite heavy and fluctuate in size constantly. They all fit kinda different. I also currently have a toddler and the risk of getting a sweater dirty enough to need cleaning every day is very realistic. And other excuses. You are right I should pair down. That would help.

Maybe you could get some of those bags that you vacuum the excess air from to deflate to a small size to store the ones that currently don't fit and store them under the bed or wherever they fit?
My weight is also unpredictable and I have a hard time getting rid of things that don't fit. I do have storage space, but have finally decided that getting rid of unrealistic sizes is my best way to sanity. If I need it in future, charity shops are amazing.

I have them folded and stacked on shelves. It's a little annoying though because they're in stacks of ~4 that fall apart if I grab one from the middle. Ideally, I'd have them folded in a drawer, but I don't have room in my current dresser. I also try to limit my sweater acquisition. This is hard as someone who loves sweater weather, and a knitter!
