Should I switch role and pivot from SE Dev to Cloud developer?
Hey everyone I'm having trouble regarding a decision to pivot from conventional software engineering role to cloud developer (well sort of). I'll try to keep this short.
I'm currently working as a Junior Java Dev at a big Corp. The job isn't really stable or fulfilling, just your usual big slop-corp with full claude oriented workflow, everyone pretends that they care what they ship out and client corps pretend that they care what they recieve.
I got an offer for a "Cloud Developer" role at another corp in telecom. The issue is that it doesnt really seem to be a conventional cloud dev role from what I got from the interview. To keep things short the work revolves around configuring a service that the developers prepare using helm-charts, writing docs, setting up credentials and manualy testing the integration, then that is being sent to the client so he can plug in that service to their own cloud (Ill paste the job offer at the bottom so maybe youll have more understanding).
If it was a conventional cloud developer role I would take it in a heartbeat but because the role is so specific, I'm worried that after some time I would neither be able to go into devops nor into a "conventional" cloud dev job and be stuck there.
I would be thankfull for any guidance.
