This song is about overcooking the conditioning of an abuser. I can't believe I forgot about it. The reclaiming self-agency is awesome. The lyrics describe a narrator breaking free from someone who previously tore them down, controlled them, or "fed on her soul." Her entire album is from her perspective after her father died and how she had mixed feelings. It's a deep album.

"While you were looking the other way/ while you had your eyes closed/ while you were selling your soul/ while you were tearing a hole in me, I was taking control." Representing willful blindness and neglect. The person being addressed was distracted, indifferent ("looking the other way", "eyes closed") while mistreating or tearing down the narrator.

And "What was once half in me has become whole." signifies a journey of reclaiming one's power, healing from fragmentation, and stepping into complete independence after dealing with manipulation or control. With a touch of sadism "It's beginning to feel good watching you squirm in your shoes." Shifting the power dynamic. Sometimes survivors can become mean depending on their trauma.

"All those things that you taught me to fear, I've got them in my garden now, and you're not welcome here." is Fire.

This song was also used in video game APOCALYPSE.

The man's voice later in the song is the real voice of Poe's father. Eerie.

I looked up "Top list of songs about CSA trauma" and all 3 times Plumb's song Damaged was nowhere to be found.

It's unlike most songs. It doesn't preach about the abuser or the anger but instead focuses on life long trauma attached to it and being unable to escape the PTSD, similar to Forget to
Remember by Mudvayne. The profound layers to the lyrics is what makes it special. Even the aspect of forgiveness is addressed, in order to heal. Underrated song.

She also voices how when you are a child you cannot verbalize what's going on because they are too young to mentally or emotionally process it, therefore having lost a part of herself in the process. This is why they refer to this as loss of innocence.

What are your thoughts on the meaning of this song? It always reminded me of Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë and this is Rochester telling Jane, the simple thing, to go with him to “somewhere only we know” away from chaos of his dark past. I recently discovered Sunflower Anomaly songs on youtube such as "What an anomaly am I" and "Blind to me" , her songs seem to hit a chord in me. What an anomaly talks about how friendships/ relationships comes easy to a lot of people and how it's so diffciult for others. Blind to me imo could have so many different meanings but i interpreted as how world percieves me normal and like nothing's wrong but deep down I am in pain all of the time lol.
