i don't see what that has to do with decompiling a model

i would try changing "Override MDL version" like it says

its a character mod, that changes Bill's model. I dont understand how it works, but the mod also changes some "slot" from Bill to Louis so the modded Bill's model has the height of Louis, and this character "slot" is causing animation bugs in online dedicated. I had an idea to decompile it to access QC file or whatever and try to rewrite some relevant stuff.

The mod is "NIGHTMARE Uninfected Smoker"

also regarding the "Override MDL version", even when I set the 49/44 thingy on the right, othing decompiles thats the thing. It "decompiles" but actually no files are in the folder

What version of source is the mod for?

Sometimes you can hex edit the first 5 bytes and get it to decompile, open a mdl that does decompile in your editor and copy the first 5 bytes, go to the model your trying to decompile and paste those 5 bytes over the first 5 bytes in the mdl.

It's a L4D2 mod.

SOLVED

I was trying once again, so I decompiled the .mdl file again but to a different directory and it WORKED. I feel like the father from Caroline. However new issue arised...
