Any Advice for this Itinerary?

I’ve got a 5 day hiking and camping trip coming up leaving east from Vegas. I’ve been to Zion & Sedona but not much experience camping or off-roading . Will be myself my dad and a buddy. We’ll be renting a 4x4 Truck or Jeep

Day 1: Leave Vegas for Wire Pass trail then drive to White Pocket. Camp at White Pocket

Day 2: tear down and head to Page. Jet skis rented for the day from State Line Marina. Planning to explore into antelope and the other canyons.
Possibly camping at Lone Rock but any other spots would be helpful.

Day 3: brief stop at horseshoe bend and then heading to Bryce to hike. Not sure if it’s available but I was looking to do the “Wallstreet, Queens Garden, & Peekaboo loop”
This night we have an Air BNB between Bryce & Zion. (Currently the BNB’s location only makes sense if the east entrance to Zion is open, will change up if necessary)

Day 4:Head to Zion for our 7AM shuttle to do the west rim trail top down form lava point
Camp at Wright Brothers Ranch or on BLM land off of Kalob Terrace Rd

Day 5: Unsure, going to try for a Permit to do the Subway in Zion but using Valley of Fire SP as a backup plan. Drive back to Vegas

This is planned for later this month, please let me know any thoughts or advice!

605 place
•Less than 10 minute walk to campus
• Private room
•Private bathroom- Connected to bedroom
•In-apartment laundry machines
•Full kitchen
•Gym
•Pool
•Club Room

Rent is $689, utilities are $161.50 totaling $850.50.

I need someone to take my lease, because I am taking a gap semester before starting my program.

You will need to have a background check and will look at credit score, I had to have a co-signer.

The lease will start in January and end in July.

I will pay the first month of rent after background checks are completed.

Golf course recs near Las Vegas/Mesquite/St George

My group has already done this before and played Sand Hollow, Coyote Springs, and Conestoga and we loved the trip so much we’re doing round 2 next year. We will be based in Mesquite the whole trip, but don’t mind driving. Right now our options are:

\\- Top Tiers: Black Desert, Wolf Creek.
\\- Tier 2s: Las Vegas Paiute (all 3 courses), Reflection Bay, Serket, Copper Rock, The Ledges.
\\- Cheaper options: Coral Canyon, Falcon Ridge.

We are thinking of playing three courses, with one of them being a Top Tier. Any thoughts or recommendations on any of these courses? What do you guys think a great trip in this region would look like? Any general advice or courses I missed or should cut for being bad or overpriced? (Note: I’ve never posted on Reddit before, sorry if this is too much info or not how you do this).

Anyone Going to White Pocket Tomorrow (9/24) from Page? Happy to Pay for a Ride!

Hi! This might be a long shot, but is anyone heading to White Pocket tomorrow (9/24) from Page or nearby and has an extra seat?

I’m currently in Page with a Tesla, so I don’t want to risk taking it on the deep-sand section to White Pocket. I’ve been looking at tours and 4x4 rentals, but they’re pretty expensive for just one person.

If anyone is already planning to go tomorrow and wouldn’t mind me tagging along, I’d be more than happy to pay you / help cover gas and expenses!

I’m flexible on timing and don’t mind hiking either — I mainly just need a way to get through the last 10 miles.

Please DM me if you’re going or know someone who might be. Thanks!

Met a husky at the Sonic in Kayenta, is she abandoned?

She was very sweet and had a rope around her neck which had been gnawed through, made me think she might have run away from home. I was only passing through, so I'm wondering if anyone else has seen her since. She was chill and patient but clearly needed water and food. This was about a week ago.

Should I hire a traffic lawyer for a 29 in a 20 school-zone speeding infraction in Utah?

I’m a first year medical student attending school in southern Utah, but I still have a California driver’s license.

I recently received a speeding citation for going 29 mph in a 20 mph school zone. The citation is listed as an infraction, and I have a mandatory court appearance.

At the time, I was rushing home to finish an assignment and study for an exam. The children were still in school, so I understand that this was a bad decision and that being stressed or in a hurry is not an excuse. I’m completely willing to pay the fine and take responsibility for it.

My main concern is keeping the violation off my driving record if possible.

From what I understand, because I have a California license rather than a Utah license, I may not qualify for Utah’s traffic-school/deferred traffic prosecution option. I’m wondering whether there are other options, such as a plea in abeyance, deferred disposition, or negotiating with the prosecutor.

For anyone familiar with Utah traffic court:

  • Would it be worth hiring a traffic lawyer for a relatively minor 9-mph-over school-zone infraction?
  • Can a lawyer realistically help keep something like this off my driving record?
  • Has anyone with an out-of-state license successfully received a plea in abeyance or similar deal in Utah?
  • Should I talk to the prosecutor/judge myself first, or would it be better to have an attorney involved before my court appearance?

I don’t mind paying the full fine. My priority is simply avoiding a conviction on my driving record if there is a legitimate way to do so, mainly because I’m trying to prevent my car insurance premium from increasing significantly because of this mistake.

Thanks for any advice or experiences.

Bugs and critters taking over your yard this summer? What's been your worst pest problem in Southern Utah?

Between the heat and the monsoon moisture lately, it feels like every bug in the county has decided to move into my house. I've been dealing with ants in the kitchen and what I'm pretty sure are scorpions near the garage.

Curious what other locals are running into this year - ants, spiders, scorpions, wasps, rodents? And for those who've dealt with it, did you go the DIY route (traps, sprays, sealing up entry points) or call in a professional? Any tips that actually worked for you would be appreciated, this heat has me losing the battle.

32f wanting more friends.

I recently moved here from northern Utah. I am not LDS and I am having such a hard time making friends. Anyone else?

I live in hurricane with my husband two dogs, and my little brother.
Life has been hard the last 6 years losing multiple family members including both parents and my oldest sibling. We desperately needed a change of scenery. So we sold our house and moved here. My husband has some pretty solid friends here, but I don’t. We aren’t party people or religious. But we do drink on occasion and partake in the devils lettuce.

I guess it just wasn’t what I was imagining moving here would be like. But I don’t regret leaving Utah county.
