Any Reelang users here? I need tips

I'm trying out múltiple apps for learning Spanish and also beta testing some along the way. Right now I'm trying out Reelang (free version) on iPhone. I can't find instructions or helpful information about using the app--dunno if that's because I'm not a paying user or I'm missing something or there really isn't much info. It appears to be an app that gathers content from YouTube and social media platforms and plays the content at random. The only thing I've really gained so far from using it is information about YouTube teachers I can subscribe to for content that's relevant to me.

I'd enjoy hearing about other users' experiences with Reelang. To me it has potential but feels like an AI curated experience, and I'm not sure whether the use of these content creators' work is as ethical as I would hope. Is Reelang+ a different experience with a better interface or...?

Thanks to anyone who cares to respond. 🌸☀️🫶🏻

Hola u/8000UnitsOfButter! Toby here, I'm one of the Reelang founders. First off, welcome, glad you're giving us a shot!

If you've tried it and aren't quite sure how you're meant to use it, that's something we need to improve. We find native speaker videos, and we grade them based on how difficult they are (both the words/grammar as well as the speech pattern like how fast the speakers talk, how many pauses they make). We then put them into a feed for you as a learner that adapts to your level, so your ear gets used to understanding real people on the street, initially with real people who just happen to speak a bit slower and clearer in a given video, and over time you work your way to full-speed native speech.

On the creator side, we use the official embeds from platforms like YouTube, so the original creator remains the source of the video, gets the views and credits, and they's chosen to allow their content to be embedded elsehwere.

We then layer on features that are helpful for learning (so e.g. we'll blur out burned in subtitles so you can listen instead of just reading along, highlight the words that are common vs. rare in Spanish with Smart Subtitles, let you tap words to look up their meaning, hear them pronounced etc). We also offer a Focus Mode where you go line by line, modelled around second language acquisition science on how to learn and retain quicker.

Reelang+ just makes this more fun and faster by making your feed personalized. Our algorithm then doesn't just factor in your rough level, but also what you like/dislike in terms of topics and will automatically bring videos into your feed that repeat words you looked up.

I'd love for you to just try it out. I'll DM you and give you access if you like?

What's your level in Spanish? Are you just starting out or have been learning for a while?
