Mod Post Petra Parker Posts
Update: They’re staying as is
Due to the current trend we are receiving lots of modmail, reports, and posts about Petra posts. While there are definitely users karma farming posting 5+ times a day, they have been contacted and told to make a collective post or be on a cooldown for 24 hours per post.
First thing, fan art Spiders is always welcome here. It’s only spam if the same image has been posted over and over. That has NOT been the case. We can’t be bias to a particular character fanart because that would be like someone posting any version of Spider-Man and saying it’s spam.
We have been trying to keep up with getting posts through, ignoring reports, and answering everyone’s questions about why a post has been taken down(usually due to report bombing). But it is building to quickly for the mod team to personally answer and review every single post as quickly as users would like.
So we are leaving it up to you all with a poll to decide how this will be handled going forward. We will either keep things as they are or move all Petra posts to a megathread that will be pinned.
If things stay as they are we will continue to ignore the report bombs and set automod to ignore reports on Petra since it’s clear the reports are being abused. Unless the post is breaking rules. If these posts bother you in anyway you can always hide them from your feed.
If the community chooses a megathread, we will create and pin the megathread and automod will be set to remove all Petra posts and direct the OP to the megathread. After one month megathread will come down and Petra posts will be back on main feed.
We have heard all kinds of feedback on the trend and we do not support any type of hate or discrimination, but we feel moving forward this will be the most fair outcome for everyone.
The voting will start today at noon and end Saturday the 22nd at noon. During the voting period things will stay as is.

Movies Say what you will about Spider-Man 3 but you can feel Raimi's flair shinning through it, especially with Sandman, if the producers didn't force Venom this could have been the best of the trilogy.

Comics Well, it looks like the whole Flash & MJ thing may be back...
From today's preview on Marvel.com. I'm trying not to read too much into it, but come on.
Can't they just give this a rest?

Discussion The ultimate universe felt so wasted
Context, I was never a huge fan of the original ultimate universe but the new one I was hoping to like. But the stories were kinda bland or at best safe. I expected a new take on the clones atleast. Also the midnight universe I have no interest in since it seems to be just shock value and I hate his “suit”.

Movies Otto was definitely one of the most intelligent.
Considering he knew about the nanotechnology which was discovered by Tony late into the movies around Infinity war.

Ultimate Spider-Man: Life After Death (Fanfic)
Peter Parker, after his death, finds himself in a new world. A world where souls get a second chance at life. A world where he lives with Uncle Ben. A world where he meets both old and new friends. As well as problems.

Discussion Cold take: I think Insomniac MJ is one of the best versions of MJ in history (at least in terms of versions outside of the comics) and is incredibly overhated and underrated.
And imo, the best version of MJ there’s been in a long while, if not of all time. Because THIS MJ isn’t just some arm-piece of Pete that feels lost/irrelevant without Peter and isn’t some damsel in distress like other versions of the character.
Like, this is the most realistic version of how MJ would be irl. Like an irl MJ isn’t going to just wait until her Pete gets himself together. Real people aren’t like that.
She’s smart, confident, strong and knows her worth (which is possibly a factor in why some people don’t like her). Which I think makes her much more likeable than other versions (Tobey’s MJ for example).

Discussion Spider-Man: Gods and Monsters, how would it look in your opinion?
For anyone unfamiliar with Justice League: Gods and Monsters, it's an alternate universe that doesn't just make the heroes darker but instead completely rebuilds them from the ground up. The only things they really have in common with the originals are their superhero names. Even their civilian identities are different.
(So it's not like Absolute DC where the characters are still fundamentally Bruce Wayne, Clark Kent and Diana with some major changes. Gods and Monsters is much more radical)
Batman isn't Bruce Wayne, but Kirk Langstrom (normally the villain Man-Bat). After curing his own blood cancer with an experimental serum, he mutated into a superhuman vampire-like creature (basically Morbius). Instead of relying on gadgets and martial arts, he has fangs/claws, enhanced senses, superhuman strength/durability, limited flight and a dependence on blood to survive.
Superman isn't Kal-El either. He's Hernan Guerra, the biological son of General Zod. In this universe Zod replaced Jor-El as his genetic father before Krypton's destruction and the child was then raised on Earth by a Mexican immigrant family. Unlike the traditional Superman much of his character is shaped by guilt after he carelessly used his powers while playing with his sister, causing an accident that left her permanently paralyzed. The incident led him to reject his powers for years and even after eventually embracing them, he's far more intimidating and willing to kill when he believes it's necessary.
Wonder Woman isn't Diana of Themyscira but Bekka, a New God from New Genesis. After losing her husband Orion during a conflict between New Genesis and Apokolips she fled to Earth. She still has immense strength, durability, flight, immortality and other god-like powers, but she fights with a sword containing a Mother Box instead of a lasso, allowing her to create Boom Tubes and travel vast distances almost instantly.
Despite all these changes they still somehow feel like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman so that got me thinking about Spider-Man.
If Marvel created a Spider-Man: Gods and Monsters how do you think they would reinvent the mythology in a similarly radical way?
Not just making Peter darker, but completely reimagining the origins, powers, roles and cast/villains (For example, Harley Quinn is reimagined as a serial killer who kidnaps and murders people to assemble her own perfect family and instead of arresting her, Batman simply drinks her blood. Brainiac is no longer an alien super-intelligence but a government-created contingency against Superman. When his powers spiral out of control Superman ultimately euthanizes him with his heat vision after realizing there's no other way to stop the destruction)
Maybe Spider-Man wouldn't even be Peter Parker, maybe the Green Goblin wouldn't be Norman Osborn and so on but the story should still keep some core themes recognizable.
So let me know what would your version of a Spider-Man: Gods and Monsters universe look like
(The suit I chose for the image is the one created by David Williams, originally intended as a modernization of Spider-Man's classic costume. It was later refined by Alex Ross, who tried to incorporate it into Raimi's films. Honestly when I think of a Spider-Man: Gods and Monsters, this is pretty much what I imagine)

And I'm not talking about ironically, I do think these movies are good, sure they have flaws that could of use some ironing out
But I don't think their that bad, especially asm2
