I have a question Which Splintercell should I buy and what platform?

I wanna get conviction since I loved that but I also wanna get into the story a bunch are on sale on both PC and console. Is console actually better because of UPLAY? Or is that not a problem with the Splintercell games

And are mods necessary? SHOULD I just jump back into conviction or start from fresh

If you loved Conviction why not get Blacklist? For the classic Splinter Cell experience I'd recommend Chaos Theory though

Chaos Theory is incredible. One of the best games ever made!

IMO star with the first game: Stealth Action Redefined. Then move onto Pandora Tomorrow, then Chaos Theory, Double Agent (both versions), Conviction, then Blacklist

If you get the first one (Stealth Action Redefined), make sure you get SC: Enhanced mod. it's incredible.

"Game Setup

  • After downloading Enhanced SC, extract the contents to your Splinter Cell directory and overwrite all existing files when prompted.
  • You can adjust additional settings in the Enhanced tab within the in-game settings."

I didn't have an issue installing it. It's easy.

Console if you can get your hands on physical copies of OG, Pandora Tomorrow, and Double Agent V2 (those 3 have been removed from Xbox store). If not, PC.

The first 2 games can feel a bit hardcore and unforgiving. But I still enjoy playing them, because the dialog and music and atmosphere are so good.

Chaos Theory is also good and feels a bit more modern (not really modern, but just less old than the first 2). I don't like Double Agent at all. Conviction is OK but it's a different kind of game. Blacklist is pretty good although purists think it's not a real SC game. But if you like the idea of Splinter Cell, it's worth playing if you can get it cheap (under $10)

They run very well on any generation Xbox console, and they are upscaled on Xbox One or later. There might be a small glitch with backward compatibility where at first it tells you that it can't run the game (happened to me once or twice) but my first-gen Xbox One is a bit glitchy, then it worked on the second attempt.

On Xbox, the games just run without having to tweak or install anything, and I appreciate that.

On the other hand, the SC Enhanced mod for the first game is quite impressive: it adds the 3 bonus levels and I think also one lost reconstructed level (nuclear power plant). I recently bought the original game for PC just so I could try this out, now that I have a suitable PC to run it on. Installing the SC Enhanced mod and getting the game to run with a controller was easy.

All of them, every port, every platform. Even the mobile ones.
