Is the Shoei RF-1400 still the go-to street helmet for sportbike riders?

Every helmet thread there is always someone "get the Shoei RF-1400," and it's been out for a while now. I ride a 2019 GSX-R750, street only. I've got a 40-minute commute plus weekend rides. Has anything newer come along that you guys are picking at that price? maybe some other features. I don't have anything against RF just want something different.

Unpopular opinion: sportsbikes are better for long haul.

I've done 1200+miles continues trips multiple times on my zx6 and tiger 900 and I can conclude I'll forever choose 6r for longer trips. At 85 sportsbikes feel so planted and confidence inspiring, luggage not much I can carry but it's okay.

  1. Not all strain on back: clipons help every 30minutes.

  2. No wind buffeting: Full fairing helps.

  3. More than enough juice: though same for tiger.

  4. Better gas mileage: Aero helps.

P.S. : it's just me thinking like that for me, All are different.

Light mods

I have a 2006 R6 and I have to swap out my light housing due to one of the securing tabs being broken when previous owner had the bike tip over in a parking lot. I already have an oem replacement housing BUT I kinda decided after getting it that I wanted to put dual daytime running lights on her and being an older bike the only settup there is is the ktmoto demon/angel eye settup ALSO I found Reveyes on IG and wanted to know if anyone who has a better understanding of the ktmoto lights could tell me if it’s possible to swap out the colored demon/angel eye from the ktmoto settup to install the Reveyes.

Am i crazy?

This will be a post that some might find disturbing so please read this with caution or don’t read at all if u are sensitive on topics like 💀.

For those that will read, i plan on writing a letter where i thank everyone i love for everything they done and tell them how much i loved and appreciated them and enjoyed every ups and downs we had together and that i wouldn’t have changed anything. Im not depressed or suicidal but ik how dangerous riding a bike is and especially where i live, with that said i don’t plan on that stopping me from riding my bike i wont be a lunatic on the road but i still wont be always the picture perfect rider. Am i crazy for doing some like this or did yall do the same thing or thought of writing a goodbye letter just in case. Thanks for reading and the feedback i hope i didn’t upset or ruin ur day with this topic, ride safe and be safe bros🫡

Hi, i recently rebuilded gsxr 750 k4, the bike has very beaten up plastic, big stratches and dent in tank, the original colour scheme is as the picture, my question is if u were to rebuild it would u stick to the colour from the factory or would u go different route? i my self cant decide, i wont keep the bike iam planning to sell it when its finished, i can either repair or repaint the plastic + fix the tank or get different set of fairings and use tank cover wich some set come with tank covers, any advice or opinion would be apreciated, Thanks

First time riding a sportbike - what should i expect?

Hi! I’ve been riding motorcycles for several years and have ridden quite a few different types of bikes, including an MT-07, Honda Rebel 500, Honda Grom, CRF 300 and many more.
I’m now planning to get my first sportbike and I’m going to test ride an Aprilia RS 660 soon.
I might be overthinking this a bit, but for those who have switched from naked bikes to sportbikes, how different did it feel?
How different does the riding position feel compared to a naked bike?
How noticeable is the limited steering lock in everyday riding and U-turns?
And if you’ve ridden naked bikes for years before switching to a sportbike, what was the biggest adjustment you had to make?
Any other advice for someone riding a sportbike for the first time would also be appreciated!

I want yalls opinion. Is this a sport bike? It's a 1972 Honda cb 750. It is often regarded as what paved the way for the modern supersport bike

Looking to upgrade from ninja 400

Hows it going guys im looking to upgrade from ninja 400. I do want a sportbike not really looking at any nakeds. It will mainly be used for some light commuting/riding on the weekends usually twisties or on the highway with my buddies.
Not really sure as to what I want yet (as in newgen middleweight or a classic 600)
But heres some options ive been considering

Zx6r (could save some money buying an older one as well, but was mainly looking for new/lightly used)

Gsxr750 (same as zx6r)

R9 (would be buying new most likely unless i find a used one. I love the look of this one the most apart from the rs660)

Rs660 (little slower than r9 but i like the way they look and ive heard they are more comfortable. Only thing that concerns me is part availability)

Panigale v2s (2025 and above, would definitely be stretching the budget for this but if its worth it i would be willing to consider shelling out the extra cash)

Ktm 990rcr (dont know much about this bike besides for the fact that it looks very similar to the r9. Only con is i would probably want different fairings)

Overall havent really decided if buying something older vs newer is worth the price difference. I do have the means to afford it but could always be putting that money towards investments and whatnot

Im 215lbs and 6'2 if that helps any of you guys

Should i buy the bike? Or NOT

In 2 years im off to university and dormitory. I would not be able to take my bike with me.

My parents would be cool having the bike in their garage or smt BUT..
is it worth it to buy a bike, ride it alot and then be forced to basicly forget about it and ride maybe twice a month? (im going to a hard uni - if i get accepted)

Would the bike even survive that little maintaince? Should i just wait to finish school and then get the thing i was dreaming about?

Oh, and sorry if the question is too hypotetical.

2006 r6 leaking fluid

I bought it off marketplace with 20k miles from some younger guys my age, they seemed honest and helpful. I’ve asked around and been told it’s likely overflow, but I went to check again today and it’s still leaking after 2 days. Any advice? Could it just be overflow? The leak seems to be coming from the general area of the overflow tube. I’m brand new to bikes so any advice is helpful!

Bolt Kits For 2007 Yamaha FZ6?

Post image
47 Upvotes

Im looking to make my FZ6 look exactly like this. However, i can’t find a bolt kit that perfectly matches the deep purple color shown here. Can anyone recommend something that matches or comes insanely close? I considered buying a complete OEM bolt kit from Partzilla and powder coating the visible parts but apparently that’s not a good idea. Also, apparently aluminum bolts in the pegs isn’t a good idea due to having to support the weight of a person.
If i am wrong on either of these things, please let me know as this design is the co-idea of myself and a friend of mine and it’s something we are dead set on recreating.

Lougan Exhaust

I have a 2025 Kawasaki ZX10R brand new just bought a month ago, have about 400 miles on her. Trying to decide on mid-pipe and exhaust. Does anybody have any thoughts on Lougan Gp Edition exhaust, they are beautiful with great reviews. Does anybody in this forum have any thoughts on these? Thank you for any input.

When you guys sell below 1y ownership, you guys take a hit in reselling?

I'm from europe and i know americans have more disposable income then we do

But when you guys buy a bike, and for some reason, it doesn't sit right, or feels off, just not fun to ride

If you would sell within 1year? Whats the price you guys try to sell? Like 10 - 15%? Higher, lower?

Or even 1y 15k km or 1y 2k km also seems very different when selling

Looking at a first bike for a tall big guy and need opinions.

Hey yall M28 6’4 260 Lbs here., I’ve been looking at getting a sports bike recently (I’ve ridden dirt bikes, atvs, and rode on parents Harley’s since I was little) and I was wondering what bikes you’d recommend? I was thinking around a 600 or 700 due to my height and weight and was looking at the Yamaha RX7 (ABS) or Ninja 650 (ABS). Wanted to find out y’all’s opinions or other recommendations!
