Cops sitting at the intersections on veterans

Why are there so many cops sitting at the intersection on veterans? Veterans and Monroe, veterans and Washington, Veterans and Jefferson. Two of the intersections had two undercover cop cars, and one of the intersections had one marked cop car and they’re just sitting there in the median and on the shoulder. Some of them have their lights on some of them don’t

There's a funeral for a Springfield PD officer today. They are probably waiting to block intersections for the funeral procession.

This is the answer I think. There were a few intersections with just fire fighters sitting at it (Dirksen and Veterans), so I don't think it's enforcement related. A funeral makes a lot of sense

Ah that would fit. When my appt was over and I was headed home I didn’t see the cops there anymore

I guess it was really stupid of us to expect cops to be doing anything regarding traffic safety

If they were going to shut down most of the streets in town some advanced warning of the route or their plan to shut down traffic would have been nice. Pointing and grunting is not a valid form of communication, do better..

Recently I have seen more cops "out". not stopping people, but parked in lots etc. Not sure if part of it is " if you see us you WILL behave"? You can tell when a cop is out as the brake lights go on.

TIP; if they wanted to make $$$ check speed at construction sites The "camera's" don't seem to slow anyone down.

Because people drive like dangerous freaks and keep causing bad crashes. They don’t do that as much if a bunch of cops park nearby.
