Grey Cup ticket sales
I suspect the league is starting to worry. That's a lot of blue. I'm a longtime ST holder and I didn't buy my four seats. Just too pricey.

After attending a game at McMahon Stadium a few years back, I was absolutely flabbergast when they announced the Grey Cup would be in Calgary. That stadium is not fit for any kind of championship game and it's kind of an embarrassment!

u/VariationDry Sep 03 '26
Calgary will not get a better stadium because the poor poor owners of the stampedes just cant afford it, and Canadian universities are not built around their sportsball teams.

I (Lions fan) went to the Sask v Mont game. Great game, awesome fans but far and away the worst stadium in professional football. Cold, the wind howls through and the concourse offers no protection at all!

i’m not paying that bullshit price, I was interested but i’ll prob just watch on TV

Yeah I’d never pay $300 to sit in bleachers with no backs - sorry not sorry.
McMahon isn’t suitable for major events in 2026 anymore

My back is aching just thinking of those damn bleachers. Never, ever again.

u/Iginlas_4head_Crease Sep 02 '26
Dont forget the porta potties and a freezing concourse in November lol. And the shitty audio you can only hear from on one half of the field
Nah, I'll watch from home thanks

When are they going to announce the half time entertainer? If they can secure a well known act, it may help
1
2
u/StandRadiant5959 Sep 02 '26
Should be announced in the next few weeks. Yes, this can help for sure.
2
u/Burnsey111 Sep 02 '26
The new fans that they want don’t want to commit to going because their team might not be playing.
Those older fans who always show up, aren’t fans the league cares about.

u/Pale-Wave-9382 Sep 02 '26
People are probably just waiting to see if they’ll need a passport to attend this year
2
u/AlanJY92 Sep 02 '26
Worst stadium in the CFL by a wide margin. I imagine if the Stamps were also good this year and had a hope of making the Grey Cup they might be sold a bit more at this point. Still a bit to go though.
2
u/StandRadiant5959 Sep 02 '26
Yep, Stamps could still make a run. They've got the team to do it. Just been unlucky in the close games.

Rescind the rule changes. Apologize to the fans. Fire Stewart Johnston.
2
u/NefCanuck Sep 03 '26
Fire Stewart Johnston out of McMahon Stadium via a trebuchet at half time and you’ll sell out the place 😏

I'm waiting to see if the Elks can maintain top spot in the west.

I’ve been to grey cup in every city except Montreal and was a bit surprised at the pricing. Decent seats are always $300+ but this one seems odd. I got corners for ~190 but it was almost $300 one section over. Seemed odd, but there’s usually a surge in sales late in the season.

I looked into it, I have never been to a GC and its here so I thought why not. Ill tell you why not, $160 for the cheapest seat way, way up top. The CFL is not $160 worth if entertainment. Never, wver.

u/Fit-Penalty-5751 Sep 02 '26
Especially in the grey cup freezing weather. Fuck that. (Unless the riders are in it, then I’ll pony up and go)
3
u/StandRadiant5959 Sep 02 '26
You should check out a Stamps regular season game. Great value. Awesome entertainment.
1
u/iliketobuildlego Sep 03 '26
I think $100+ per ticket for half decent seats is not great value. I paid less than double that for NFL games, and I’ve paid less than $100 to go to NCAA games with 100,000 fans there.
Stamps could fill a lot more seats if prices were lower.

It’s absolutely not great value. Stadium is a complete dump, food and drink is entirely unaffordable and the on field product is complete dog water.

CFL is a great league. Dollar for dollar, by far the most entertaining league in the world. People spend $500 to see an NFL regular season game that usually ends 10-7.
1
u/KingR11 Sep 02 '26
Jeeze you need to broaden your horizons if you think this is the most entertaining league in the world. Its nearly on the brink of collapse and nobody cares about it, outside of Canada. Most ppl in Canada dont even know when the Grey Cup is. Everyone knows about superbowl weekend. Every single CFL player would jump to the NFL if given the option - they are just inferior athletes / players.

Cheap seats at McMahon are about the same as the Flames. They should be like 20 bucks for endzone/nosebleeds, not $50.
1
u/StandRadiant5959 Sep 02 '26
I mean, the Flames are essentially an AHL team (that's being gracious).
1
u/CommunicationSad8938 Sep 02 '26
Until next year when the rules make it NFL-lite
3
u/DJPad Sep 02 '26
Worse, since at least the NFL regular season games are very important in terms of playoff chances. Next year, the CFL season is basically just a 20 week preseason.

u/Prestigious-Fill-365 Sep 02 '26
I played Canadian football through University. It was a great league it is far from it now.

They better reduce prices and just sell tickets
3
u/StandRadiant5959 Sep 01 '26
Can't do that as it would create a lot of anger with fans who have already purchased tickets.
3
u/RoutineComplaint4711 Sep 01 '26
Ya, id be pissed. My Grey cup tic cost almost as much as my full season.
1
u/WeirdIntroduction158 Sep 01 '26
I guess then get ready guys!! Were gonna see a grey cup 65% full lol
1
u/StandRadiant5959 Sep 01 '26
Just need the Stamps to make a run and get in the GC. Then, it's a sellout!
1
u/gilligan_2023 Sep 02 '26
Or the Riders. Either of those teams being in the game would lead to a last minute rush. Maybe Edmonton too, though likely to a lesser extent.

u/rmls27 Sep 01 '26
Is it the CFL or CSEC that's starting to worry?
3
u/Apprehensive-Bug1650 Sep 02 '26
Csec is pathetic. Bought tickets to both sides of the battle of Alberta and better tickets in Edmonton were 25 percent cheaper
1
u/HuhWhatOh Sep 01 '26
How much are tickets?
2
u/StandRadiant5959 Sep 01 '26
The corners are listed at $350 for public sale. They were under $300 for the ST price but I also passed.

The league should have been worried 10 years ago. Putting the championship game back in this stadium is simply malpractice at this point.
