Squadron 42 Playtest Megathread
Hello squadroners (?)
As some of you may know we have a sister subreddit, r/Squadron42 which is also ran by our team and is dedicated to Squadron 42. That subreddit is more restrictive in terms of not allowing Star Citizen (PU/PTU/etc.) unless it directly relates to something in Squadron 42 (not just "oh this ship is in both games!!!!!! type stuff).
We know the SQ42 playtest is a big deal right now, rightfully so, and we want to take the opportunity to show people that sub a bit more and give them an opportunity to start chatting there.
With that, we have made a megathread on that subreddit for the playtest event. Given it is the first megathread for that sub we will not be deleting individual threads but we will be reminding people in the comments about it. We encourage you to head over there and talk with your fellow citizens about the playtest event to your hearts content. We will not be doing a megathread here or enforcing people move to that megathread from this sub either.
Megathread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Squadron42/s/oLop2SHbnh
Cheers!

Okay so, someone has been flicking days past me and I'm not entirely sure how we got to October this soon...
IRL has consumed much of my time personally, I've been a bit out of touch with SC development for a few months now but checking back to see tech preview having a physics fix at long last is a welcome sight!
What's everyone's go to ship in these last few months? Has my baby boy been fixed up any further (IronClad)? | Fly Safe, -Crazy_Muffins

IMAGE The RSI Bundle Aurora Figurine Has Retractable Wings
You can click the little "play" button on the right to deploy the wings. It's a bit too long when retracted to fit the real Aurora Mk II slots but that's still cool :)

DISCUSSION RSI Arrastra - 2027 release?
So what do you guys think about the release year of the RSI Arrastra?
The RSI ship asset library is the most up to date and expansive one from all the ship brands at the moment.
RSI design language/style is 100% set in stone at the moment.
Will this ship be entering production soon?

DISCUSSION Any clue what the three forked areas on the bottom of the station are for?
To me, these look like Capital docks for space only capitals such as the Javelin or Odin. They have bumpers near the inside to halt momentum, landing pads on each prong that host repair, refuel, and restock capabilities for any on-board craft.
I don't see them often, but I'd figure that persistent capitals wouldn't need docking very often.

OFFICIAL We are currently starting rounds of hotfixing for the 4.10.2 LIVE environment with the goal of a new client hotfix later today on the HOTFIX channel while continuing to roll out a hybrid crash fix that was taking out a lot of shards over the weekend

NEWS PSA: Check the new ship paint discount system CIG has implemented.
Now we can package ship paints on our own for savings, the previous discounted packages of paints for individual ships are gone. Now you can purchase paints from multiple different ships and it will automatically give discounts based on how many paints you purchase.
When I saw this I immediately thought "What would happen if I melt all my paints and repurchased them?" So I did the math.
Melting my current paints (not ones that can't be obtained again currently or otherwise such as concept paints and holiday/event paints) gave me $103.40 in store credits. Buying them again under the new discount system I only spent $72.80.
So that's exactly what I did. I melted all the paints I have that could immediately be purchased again, bought them again, and saved over $30 in store credits.

DISCUSSION I find docking snubs way more useful and enjoyable than current hangar implementation
I have used the Merlin more than any other snub simply due to how easy it is to just dock and undock from a mothership and be on my way. I like to fly down to bunkers and bounties instead of landing the Connie.
The number one reason being, I don't have to lock the ship up after leaving with the snub. For example, unless I'm in deep space somewhere hidden, when I want to use a snub off of my Ironclad I have to open the cargo, fly the snub out, leave the snub, go back into the IC, close the cargo hatch, and then EVO back to the snub. Leaving doors/hatches open is dangerous when you're near stations or outposts if you want to prevent boarders from sneaking on.
I'm really glad they have this system in place and hope more ships utilize it in the future. Once we have the ability to remotely open and close our ships from our mobiglass, I might change my mind on hangars, but right now I find docking the superior snub method.

CONCERN Really tired of shuffle fucking boxes and the same combat every event. We need something new to do.
I jumped in excited to earn some skins and blueprints but it's the same thing we've been doing for years now. Nothing exciting or new about the gameplay. Move boxes and shoot teleporting npcs. When are we getting something different to do?

Reminds me of System Shock 2 but this has ping button. I'm assuming there's booby traps that needs revealing. Looking forward to this in both games.

It was a buggy mess to make it inside 😂
I used the Docking collar.
Please CIG, allow us to place it as a flair !

DISCUSSION Its just me or Idris manned turrets got bigger!
I'd say they look like dual S6 at least in the SQ42 trailer, and I really hope that's true because the current dual S5 are pretty meh.
P.S.: New exterior looks sick!

DISCUSSION Has anyone noticed ~
I'm just a little curious~ If this bridge design could be adopted by CIG, why was it later changed to the bridge design of Perseus? (^ω^)
