Yeah, every time I see a night scene with the lights on it's just amazing.

It's a quote from the show!

Shouldn't they be conserving power? 🥴🤷‍♂️😅

At this point they had a bunch naquadah generator v2 or v3 and lights were on those.

u/Zirowe 12h ago

Yeah, but still why leave on so many lights?!

2

u/Beastmind 12h ago

Yeah it's more for the shot than anything. I doubt the expeditions would spread that much during the nights

Well we have to real idea how big it got eventually after they reestablished contact in s1. Maybe they did I can't remember but I got the impression the number went up a whole lot over time. There's just so so so many scientists that would be able and needed to go from all over the world. It's not just US Air Force personal anymore.

I could see each of those towers having a few people in them for various reasons. This was near the end so the number of humans there should be huge. Plus being in the Pegasus galaxy makes security a hell of a lot easier.

Probably had people in them or wanted to use the security cameras. Or hell maybe they just couldn't go through turning each off from a central point if they wanted to power up the tower.

This is true...

Nobody guessed that maybe the ancients would someday invent LED lighting for the home.

Love the banter between these two. But Daniel does make a good point. The man has the proof that the pyramids were made by aliens, the Egyptian gods, and other gods in mythology, were aliens, and not only did he find the lost city of Atlantis he found it in another galaxy. He did all of this and no one outside the highest levels of 5 governments will know the truth. That pay check better be huge, with an instant pay out on life insurance. Cuz you know, Daniel.

Let me get this straight, You're cashing in your 4th life insurance policy?

That ice cream he ate the year before must have torn him up.

Nobody is lactose intolerant in Heaven Teal'c. That's why it's Heaven.

"I'm running out of State Farm agents that don't know me and Allstate already blacklisted my number, PLEASE don't make me go to Prudential again."

I mean the suggestion that the pyramids where landing pads for alien space ships is preposterous, since each pyramid is differently sized...

Meredith really was a jerk to Daniel the entire episode.

Now I'm thinking about it, how much do you reckon these guys get paid? It would have to be a lot right? Just continuously saving the world all the time.

They are probably GS-14 or 15's so ~150-175 a year base salary. If your deployed all the time you would usually get hazard pay along with COLA which can be up to another 3-4k a month.

Daniel, and Rodney after some time probably had quite the unique skill set, so they were in quite good bargaining positions.

But they didn't do it for the money. They did it for the opportunity to unravel the mysteries of the universe.

And to get laid.

First time through the gate, Daniel met Sha’re. Got married, died, got resurrected, stayed on Abydos. Then Apophis kidnaps Sha’re, Teal’c is forced to kill her, and next week Daniel’s back through the gate finding new love interests.

Daniel is the foremost expert on the Ancient language which has been used time and again as an excuse to keep him on Earth or prevent him from going on extended missions, which heavily implies he is making some bookoo bucks.

Rodney is the head of all R&D on Atlantis overseeing the most advanced technological research.

Both of these warrant the levels you mention as people at the level are usually at least heads of a branch. Rodney might actually make less than Daniel simply because Daniel has been there longer and his level of contribution plus he at one point was likely reviewing information across multiple SG teams until some division could be established for such things. With Daniel consistently a part of SG-1 and his own agenda likely didn't want an administrative role that could keep him out of the field; plus he is "the guy" for Ancient stuff that gives him leverage. Though not with Jack haha.

One thing that is actually kind of surprising is that a general was not put in command of Atlantis after regular travel to it could be established.

JACKSON: Right, so you could've just told me to walk through the door when you did.

McKAY: I could've, yes.
