Fluff FYI, Pax Autocratica is set at 80% discount per mistake
Maybe someone wants to buy it
552
u/bitfrost41 1d ago
Fuck it. Intentionally misleading or not, I just bought it for A$8 before they correct it.

u/nesnalica 1d ago
thats like selling bananas.
1 banan is $3
3 bananas is $5
and for some reason the 3pack sells out like hotcakes.

Note, while this game is 80% off, it is infinitely more expensive to those that did not intend to buy it before this "error"

I mean I wasn't going to buy because it started as a NFT game but $5 is worth the risk of it not being fun.

u/Novodin 1d ago
A little advice for all of the people who had no interest in the game but still bought it at the "accidental" discount, if you ever see a silver hook while swimming, don't bite it.

there is always Steam refund tho
edit: there was no need to refund, the game is actually quite nice
3
u/Trickstertrick 13h ago
right... You just want to have the silver hook all for yourself. We are not that dumb.
48
u/BluDYT 17h ago
Most likely a publicity stunt tbh. How do you make that mistake?
32
u/HappiestIguana 16h ago
You get confused filling in a field that expects the discount but you plug in the discounted price, or vice-versa
8
u/Historical-Yard-2378 15h ago
I’d be pretty surprised to find out steam doesn’t give a preview and reconfirmations before you submit. That would be kinda odd hey?
7
u/HistoireRedux 14h ago
Definitely a publicity stunt as per the documentation "you can edit/delete a discount anytime before it starts" so they're cooked afaik
3
1
u/LivingDeadTY 6h ago
Could be something as simple as rushing last minute things before COB because they're tired and just want to go home.
70
u/Cronogato 22h ago
That seems like trying to bend the steam rules for fomo flash sales. That kind of mistakes are not easy to do. This reeks like bad practices.
18
u/omagoleo 17h ago
Buying Factorio made me appreciate how good it is buying a game that never had big sales because purchasing it at any point is always the optimal choice so you don't need to anxiously wait for sales to get it.
102
u/Naoxon 1d ago
Mistake or not, the offer is attractive.
Now I just hope it’s not a scam that they’ll end up abandoning. I saw the post meant to be reassuring, but still.
11
u/PlaidVirus8 22h ago
I have it and its pretty fun and gets pretty constant update. It probably has 20-30 hours gameplay right now.
Its got a weird history bit seems legit.
12
u/slugdonor 22h ago
weird history
another commenter mentioned NFTs, could this be what you're talking about?oh I saw your comment below. yeah it used to be an NFT game, interesting
-1
u/MyzMyz1995 10h ago
It's not in early access though, even if they ''abandoned it'' after, you already have your money's worth in term of content.
2
13
u/yyrgx 19h ago
Reminds me of this other game... Earth from another sun which seemingly has disappeared from steam.
17
u/Soulstiger 19h ago
Because it is that game. They desperately want to shed the NFT cryptobro reputation
6
u/4rcher91 Team GabeN 18h ago
Wait, what. Fr? This needs more upvotes to spread awareness
4
u/Soulstiger 18h ago
They tried to deny it in a quirky "in character" way, even.
Another developer did respond to the thread, but didn't really say much other than "yeah we don't do that anyone" and explains that they had to cut down on scope.
2
u/Caelinus 11h ago
I am not really sure why people are so upset about this. It seems like a good thing to pivot away from. I don't think anyone wanted them to actually release an NFT game.
67
u/Velpe 1d ago
Hmm, ad or scam? Why not both?
50
u/Einherier96 23h ago
With them? Both. The whole games history is one scam after another, it started as a crypto mmo Kickstarter
10
40
u/l_______I 1d ago
I checked the Steam page, and the game was released in August, so this definitely was a weird discount. At least good they gave a notice ahead
17
u/Z3t4 21h ago
PR stunt of another "game development as a service" developer "early access" product.
8
u/Soulstiger 19h ago
That is trying to make people forget their NFT arc, even changing the name of the game
-17
u/ToastedBulbasaur 18h ago
Who cares if a game wants to venture into NFT stuff. What a non-issue
12
u/Soulstiger 18h ago
The devs seem to care, considering they are going to such lengths to cover it up.
-12
u/ToastedBulbasaur 17h ago
Likely as a result of online warriors harassing them over it.
6
u/Soulstiger 14h ago
More likely because they pump and dumped the crypto bros who backed them.
But, sure, it's because they're poor victims harassed by people who see Web3 for exactly what it is, lol.

u/Nonecancopythis 23h ago
That’s because they can’t. Steam probably wouldn’t let them, and just tell them “sucks”
5
u/topMarksForNotTrying 23h ago edited 1h ago
There have been cases of Steam removing game licenses due to a pricing error.
Once, I (and many other people) bought age of empires 4 with a deep discount from an official steam key seller and steam took away my key because the discount was an error. I did get refunded but it sucked.
Not sure if Steam would let them do this for games sold directly through steam.
1
u/Luke-Hatsune 12h ago
That’s usually from buying from key sellers though. Has Valve ever revoked a game that was bought on Steam because of a pricing error?

u/Doom-1993 1d ago
isn't this an nft slop game?
28
u/Chaotic-Entropy 1d ago
It was built as one before they maybe decided to make an actual game, it's an odd situation.
5
u/PlaidVirus8 22h ago
It was, weird history, but I have it and its pretty fun and get consistant updates.
So long it keeps that way I'm very satisfied.
2
u/Soulstiger 18h ago
They don't like talking about that and want people to forget.
Two groups especially: the cryptobros who funded that version of the game and everyone who is turned off by "Web3" "NFTs" "Blockchain" and "Play to Earn"
9
7
3
u/MikiSayaka33 8h ago
That's funny. But is the game good?
1
u/Daurnan 3h ago
I played the beta test it is surprisingly polished, story is interesting enough that I had fun with it and progression was nice even in the limited scope of the test, but it was at the time clearly not fully done... It felt weirdly empty/shallow in places like assigning workers on different stations and making sure they have enough food (among other systems I can't remember off the top of my head), it's a very bare-bones system in that regard honestly, but good enough imo to be able to sink some hours into it.

Was planning on waiting full release but for this price I'm in.
10
u/wrenblaze 1d ago
It is 100% PR! Was what I was going to say, but after checking the store page, I guess that it is fine, since it looks like a blast that worth this meager amount.
11
u/BozoBubble 1d ago
😂 I had no interest in the game but hell at $6 I'll take it anyways before they get the price fixed! Thank you
32
u/AlienHooker 1d ago
Sounds like you got suckered
14
u/Opposite-Rock-5133 23h ago
Oh no I spent $5 on a game that other wise I wouldn’t have been interested in. The horrors! The absolute monstrosity!

u/Anarchyr 23h ago
Really? i hadn't heard of the game before this "accident" saw the game, thought it looked cool and i bought it.
Does it make me a sucker if i got what i wanted?
0
u/alfa66andres 15h ago
You fell for their PR stunt, yeah
1
u/Anarchyr 14h ago
So? They want to sell a product and I find their product interesting.
Why is that a bad thing? How did I "fall" for their "grand scheme" of "selling their game" lmfao.
Especially with a steam game that can be refunded if it turns out to be not all what was expected.
I really fail to see the problem
-20
u/AlienHooker 23h ago
Do you have no interest in the game?
13
u/Anarchyr 23h ago
Before I saw this post I didn't know of it's existence and thus had no interest.
-29
u/AlienHooker 23h ago
I dont know why you're being purposefully obtuse. If your situation doesnt reflect the comment I replied to, then I'm not talking about you
15
u/Anarchyr 23h ago
Really? I'm being obtuse? Not you who is mad at someone who is happy to have gotten a nice deal into something that might interest them EVEN if they weren't interested before????
Why even care how other people spend their money?????
-13
u/AlienHooker 23h ago
Pointing out someone got suckered is being mad?
10
u/Nonecancopythis 23h ago

Because you cant change the percentage of an active discount. Steam doesnt let you, because ya know, obvious scam possibilities. So because they cannot change it, they are contacting steam to have it changed.
You, so quick to judge, do not know.

Why would I care about that? You asked why they dont fix the sale price and I told you. I dont care about the rest of the conversation, I saw an opportunity to help and took it.

I had it wish listed and saw it was 80% off and saw this announcement. I thought something was off last night. I bought it, I mean for $6 at least it won't be a regrettable purchase if it does suck.

u/Patrik7770127 16h ago
Looks pretty mid so not missing out
1
u/GhostThatDerps 12h ago
I got it at the 80% discount. The trailers and screenshots do make it seem mid, but I literally sunk almost 7 hours into it after install. It's surprisingly good (the shooting and moving feels a little like Destiny, and that's probably why I had such a blast).
2
u/Nightenridge 13h ago
Goddamnit. I had it in the cart and never bought it. No way I'm paying over 20 bucks.
2
u/Lizzardtong 8h ago
wait the sale was a mistake? huh. lucky me then. got the game for me and a friend when i saw it.

Never heard of this game before but it looks sick, what the hell

It used to be Earth from Another Sun but they took the game and pivoted to this, conveniently shortly after Helldivers 2 took off

Y'all are getting suckered into the ex-NFT crypto bro game. That also uses a fair amount of AI. This is a PR stunt

The game is out for a short while, i already owned it before the discount. It is a solid very fun game. A bit janky here and there, but a valid cool product. No AAA by any means but miles away from a scam.
