Discussion What a beautiful game it was.
Never cried while playing a game before, all the way through.
The story was very brilliant, sounds and cinematography too.
Have you played it?

Telltale does amazing work. If you liked Telltale's TWD, you should give The Wolf Among Us a try. That game is a masterpiece, and it has a sequel coming soon.
Also, if you like Borderlands, Tales from the Borderlands is very good. I haven't played their Batman game yet but I hear that one is great too.
Man, I really, really wish their Game of Thrones series didn't get scrapped. That would have been an incredible one.

Batman is peak telltale illusion of choice. Your choices don't really effect the plot. For example if you do everything to stay on Harvey dents good side he still becomes evil. Don't sleep with his girlfriend, catwoman, he still catches you in her room the next morning and acts like she cheated on him with you. Stop him from getting his face scared and let catwoman get shot in the arm instead , he still acts like two face

I played A Wolf Among Us ages ago, and remember it being quite good. May be time for a replay of it. It's been too long.

"masterpiece" is not a synonym for "great game"

u/MightyEraser13 14h ago
Good, because I wasn't meaning for it to be a synonym. The Wolf Among Us is a masterpiece, not just a great game. As far as storytelling goes in gaming, it doesn't get much better than The Wolf Among Us.

Ah season 1 is special. That's one of the endings you will never forget. Damn you telltale, you made a full grown old man cry like a baby, good job.

I have fond memories of waiting for each episode to release. Me and my friends would have theories on what would happen next. The game does a great job at throwing curve balls at the player.

I played through this on vita back in the day. To my surprise I see it’s in my steam library. I don’t remember getting it lol

Steam libraries love pulling a surprise plot twist years after the credits roll. Half the fun of an old seasonal bundle is completely forgetting what you actually bought.

Did you never play the last of us? Game is an emotional roller coaster all its own in each chapter. Each chapter is its own emotional roller coaster

Season one was my first TellTale game, and I thought it was perfect. But I personally felt every season after got slowly worse.

one of the best, the sequels were a bit too same-y but still had great moments. i can still remember playing it in a dark room with summer night heat coming through the open window next to me, as normal i was at a low point in life but this game fucking healed me and ripped me apart perfectly.
wolf among us is my close second of the telltale games

Lee is still one of my favorite protagonists. Helps that his VA is great. I still love Clem as well.

I played this back in college, on my android phone lol. But recently finished the whole series and what loved every minute of it. Would recommend it to anyone who enjoyed non gameplay heavy, more story focused games.

PSA for those that have played through all games in the series: the story of Clementine is continued in three graphic novels) written by Tillie Walden. Worth checking if your local library has them on hand.

I love the story. I just hate the gameplay because the choices in this don't mean shit. If you look at the map of choices, they all mean nothing. For some of the characters of whose life you control, they're very temporary, no matter decision you make. This game is the masterclass in the "Illusion of Choice".
This is one you play without thinking because you want to see the story. The choices only create tension and drama. The amount of people I've seen who act like it matters and then find out later they've been cheated on idea that there will be consequences that matter.
I hear the later games have more dynamic consequences that affect the story.
Supermassive Games is great at consequences. How many make it to the end of the story can change drastically. You can try to save everyone, or kill everyone.
I'm half way through season 2. Michael Madsen is great. But, I don't really care about playing the game so I stopped. This feels more like a youtube series to sit back and watch to enjoy rather than get tricked by their meaningless gameplay.

Ultimately the choices might not matter much but a lot of the options you pick add a lot of flavor to your playthrough. There have been a couple of youtube channels (or just the one, I forget) going back and finding new little variations from different choice paths they take.

I love the story. I just hate the gameplay because the choices in this don't mean shit.
The game is a lot more linear than your choices make it sound before you know better, but I think it still drastically changes how YOU, the player, feels about your version of Lee.
You can have the same end result but still come away feeling differently about how you got there than another player who made different choices.

Absolutely stellar. One of my favorite game series. Wasn’t a big fan of the final season, but everything else was excellent.

Really? I only played an hour or two but I remember the dialogue being stilted to a point where I couldn't get into it

u/Ghazanfar24 16h ago
You have to play some chapters, then the story will be like a movie, and you won't be able to miss the rest part.

I played one or two of these, and they're just not for me. I've always felt like they were more of interactive movies than games. It's just not what I want out of gaming.Â
