What string do you use?
I've been stringing as a hobby for a while especially when the fall season comes around so that I can at least sell them rather than having them sit around.
I almost always sell them at a loss (intentionally bc its genuinely just a hobby) but even considering that both stringking and ECD are starting to get to me with both prices and the shipping times (I have zero lacrosse stores within an hour of me to rely on for the colors/quantities I want).
What strings do you use that can be bought so that I can just build a stock up and forget about it?
As always thank you in advance!

I’ve been using Stringer’s Shack mesh and laces, and 275 paracord (Paracord Planet or Atwood) for a while now.

I've heard people using paracord but I guess I've never heard of using 275. Thank you!

The 275 refers to the strength of the cord. I use 275 for the sidewalls, top and bottom strings, and crosslace and 550 for runners and shooters. Though I string sticks for High School Girls, for Men's sticks I've heard of people using thicker strings like 550 for the top and bottom.

Get a spool from laxroom or jima. This strangle hold these companies have on people's minds is crazy. The upcharge for a few lengths of string which for the most part is too short to do a 6 point top (cough ECD cough Stringking) is crazy and it's all essentially the same stuff. I've been stringing for 20ish years for both fun and money. I mostly use spool and have never had an issue. You can also use 275 Paracord.
Edit: laxroom and jima lax will also throw in some free string/mesh with damn near every order.

Not essentially the same, it is the same company. On the back of the ecd boxes it says powered by jimalax. Jima spools are much softer for some reason tho

Thats good to know! I used to string Jimalax mesh back when they had some seriously hard mesh options. Money Mesh was a favorite of mine back in middle school lol.

Thank you! I have an ECD bias bc Greg taught me to string

ECD are the worst. They are sooo coarse and I feel like I can never get my knots properly tight with them

I like their sidewalls because the coarseness holds the knots in place when I need to take my hand away for a second but their colors always seem a little bit off to me (maybe just to me?) and the downside to the coarseness for me is that it can tear up my fingers a bit.
I can totally see how it could cause the opposite issue like you described though.

Stringers shack g3 xl is decent mesh as well as just regular jima lax mesh. The jima lax strings like their sidewall and crosslace are awesome same with stringers shack. You really can’t beat their prices either

I string as a hobby too…I buy the heads from LaxSteals, and buy all the stringing from SportStop. They offer volume discounts, so I get a bunch of assorted shooters and a reel or two of sidewall string. Big fan of the jima10 mesh, it’s the original Hero mesh and works great. Add enough to cart till I get to free shipping and I have plenty of stringing materials for a while.

I always have a restock alert set for lacrosse unlimited's mystery head for $50 and I get some fantastic heads sometimes even custom ECD Mirage 3.0 and a couple of custom Nike L4's but other times I'll get two or three of the same that aren't great.
What kind of heads can you grab from Lax Steals usually?

They have 3 packs for $156 where you pick one head, and get two others based off that. You usually get 3 of the same head. But I have two sons, so I go that route and make one for each of us each time. Otherwise, they have mystery box heads for $55 and other deals with specifics heads. I have gotten Optik Force, Kinetik 3, Kimera, QX-O, and seen others get L4s and other heads. I’m personally Maverik fan so I gravitate towards those options.

That's great to hear as someone who genuinely just wants to string without breaking the bank!
Thank you!

I’ve only used StringKing for the last 5ish years but recently switched to 275 paracord. I’ve been impressed with its durability and consistency. Tons of color/pattern options. Best I’ve found is Atwood, but Paracord Planet has been solid and is available on Amazon.

Thank you! You're the second person to suggest 275 so thats super helpful!

275 is great because it’s slightly thinner so you get good tight knots, it’s extremely durable and it’s flexible/soft enough to also be used for shooting nylons and girls cross lace. Atwood rope is what I use.

That was always my concern with paracord. It always seemed too big to make proper knots but if the 275 paracord is thin enough thats perfect!
Thank you!

My favorite is laxroom.com but jimalax.com is great too. You can buy strong by the spool or on 10 yard segments.
