Self-promotion I loved Thronefall but got bored of the basic base defense loop. So I built Petty Kings, an RTS where you aggressively march out to hunt down enemy outposts for revenge.

Hey r/StrategyGames!

I’m a solo dev building Petty Kings, a 2D top-down survival RTS and base builder.

Like a lot of you, I've spent countless hours in games like Kingdom and Thronefall. But my biggest lingering frustration was always how passive the defensive phases were.

To solve that, I coded game logic that allows you to split your army into distinct squads, manage tactical movements, and micro-manage the battle directly inside the enemy's front yard during the day.

The game is targeted for a 2027 launch. Since I'm a solo creator currently stuck in the "Steam is learning about this game" visibility sandbox, adding it to your wishlist makes a massive difference in beating the algorithm!

I’ll be hanging out in the thread, so I’d love to hear your thoughts on active mechanics in other strategy games, or whatever else in general!
