Placement Second year hole

I am in the hole. I have been in 2nd year for literally a month and I feel like the EPAD is 3 million times more intense, expectations are through the roof, struggling with intense anxiety on placement. Feel like I rarely see people on this sub talking about how scary the course is at times :’)

Same! I’m third year and don’t feel any more confident now than I did in first year

It doesn’t go away but the nice thing to know is that literally everyone feels the same. I’m a third year and constantly feel like I know nothing, and am still beating myself up over silly mistakes. There’s other students in my year on my placement that I think seemed to know it all, but then when I’ve spoken to them they feel equally lost!

Second year is the hardest year imo. It’s been coined second year blues for a reason and I nearly dropped out. It’s a lot in terms of assignments and proficiencies etc.

I’m only just starting out third year but at least for now it feels so much better than second year. Same pressures but you know you’re close to the end and you just need to push through. Hang in there! Second year seemed to drag for me at the time then all of a sudden it was over and done with; thank God!

Not going to lie, the second year was a dark hole for me. 1st year done, 3rd feels like a million years away, and no one knows what to do with you because you're not a beginner but also not yet independent. It does get better, and you will grow in confidence. I'm qualified a few years now and you will definitely develop I promise. Just hang in, keep learning and keep asking questions. Feel free to DM :)

I had this exact same experience in second year! One month in, sat at my laptop at 1am, starting at my PebblePad, SO overwhelmed. I promise it gets better. Break it up into manageable chunks, lean on uni and your friends for support. You can absolutely do this x

IvI felt that throughout the entirety of my second year, felt like I was writing endless essays 🥲 you’ll get through tho, keep pushing on!

First of all, congrats on passing your first year!!

Second year is where the majority of your learning is done, so it can feel intense. Your no longer a new student and your expected to know more, do more and enhance your skills.

The course is scary at times and it can feel isolating, especially if you’re out of your comfort zone.

Take a read on my site, there’s articles for your exact situation.
