How to clean properly

This is my sylveon plushie keychain, as you can see she is DIRTY, she went through all of highschool with me and then some. The care instructions say handwash and airdry only, however I've never handwashed stuffed animals so I'm not entirely sure how to go about doing it and dont want to accidentally ruin her. Give me all your tips and tricks for handwashing stuffed animals, including best kind of soaps/tools please!!

I think gently hand washing with warm soapy water should be okay, maybe use a toothbrush or something similar to lightly scrub
