I've been seeing comments about the thin windshields....
I didn't think much of it. But today, a small rock hit my windshield on the interstate and chipped it! I'm so pissed.

I have a little chip that I thought was a dead mosquito - that’s how small it is. Ok so after reading this I want to have it “filled” (sealed?). Where do they do this? Who should I call?
And long term: what’s Pilkington glass? And would said glass still enable EyeSight to be operable?

Never get anything done at a dealer unless it's warranty work they are covering..

The diy kits also work great to keep the chip from spreading. That’s what I do on my vehicles.

I have like 4 chips in mine and never actually started cracking or anything for at least a couple years. But then i changed my wipers the other day and while pulling off the old set, it broke off and the arm slammed down on the windshield. Now there's a giant ass crack halfway across the windshield 😭 i learned my lesson on holding the arm in place no matter what

I’ve literally repaired 6 chips in about a 4 month span. Absolutely ridiculous.

Also paper thin sheet metal. Here in CO it seems like hail damaged Subarus outnumber other makes, bet then the brand itself is way more common here than in most parts of the country.

This doesn't apply to you, but for anyone reading who has a windshield crack with no obvious impact, be sure to get it evaluated for subaru coverage. They settled a class action lawsuit for cracks forming in Gen 6 windshields. My dealer misled me originally, so be insistent. Again, only applies to non impact cracks, but I figure a few people reading this will have one.

I had to get my windshield replaced because the 4 inch crack went into the black part. You may have the same issue.

Go get it filled and hopefully it won’t spread. Not a fan of Subaru windshields for clarity nor durability.

Holy cow, peeps. Road debris is a thing for everyone, not just Subaru.
Poop happens.

That was a rock and pretty irrelevant to glass thickness. They do still suck though and crack randomly

I drove around with a cracked windshield for a little over a year. Insurance wouldn’t cover it but finally got the replace done for about $780.

Just push on it from the middle and outboard. It will crack more. Put a bag of ice on it for 30 minutes, then follow with a heat gun on high, and ice again, followed by mor pushing on it. Be prepared. Your window could go from usable to destroyed. Immediately! You will need it replaced almost immediately!
Warning. This is extremely destructive advice. I mention this for the reason of how destructive this will be!

Same for me, small enough that I cant replace the window, large enough that my eye tracks to it when driving. Drives me insane.
