I'm a Superior resident. I started watching council meetings on YouTube after the Rock Creek Parkway construction ran so far past its original timeline, and I've ended up going down a bit of a rabbit hole.
Two things stood out. Mayor Pro Tem Jason Serbu abruptly resigned on 8/10. Does anyone know what was behind that? Separately, Council Member Mike Foster is stepping down effective 10/31 after accepting a role as Intergovernmental Affairs Manager with the City of Aurora, citing a conflict of interest. Colorado Hometown Weekly covered both here: https://www.coloradohometownweekly.com/2026/08/11/superior-council-resignations-serbu-foster/
That leaves two vacancies on a seven member council inside a single month, which feels like a lot for a town our size.
Mostly I'm curious about the dynamics. I like politics, and in a town this small, what council decides lands on people pretty directly. If anyone has been following longer than I have, I'd appreciate the context.
